Whilst standing around scratching my head trying to figure the location I got muggled by a policeman, anyway to cut the story short I think I may have recruited another Geocacher, after a couple of searches one by me for the cache and one by him of the cache he asked all about geocaching, so I told him all I know but being a newbee wasn't much but he wrote down the geocaching.com url Cool

Hadn't been here since I was a kid, spent a few moments reminiscing about flying into Wairoa in their (Wairoa Aero Club) new Piper Cub in those days the runway was more east west and very short, on this day we were flying from Taihape to Wairoa when the weather turned for the worst a great big southerly storm moved up the coat earlier than forecasted, we were about to track north when my father pointed out the cold front to the south of Cape Kidnappers the storm caught us up as we crossed the coast just to the west of the Wairoa river mouth from there to the aerodrome was the scariest ride I've had period. When landing in a cross wind the aircraft is pointing to the wind almost then prior to touch down you bring the nose around then drop the final foot or so, in those days landing with a southerly cross wind wasn't normally a problem as the railway track was much higher than the runway and once you got into the lee of the track you could safely line up the runway and land, well not so this day, just as we touched down south-easterly gust picked us up and tipped the Piper cub on to the left wing it was centimetres from the ground, quick responses and a few expletives from my father we were tracking around for another go and this time he did a manoeuvre called sideslipping which got us down safely.
Until this day I had never remembered that flight or have I ever spoken of it such was the fright.
Special thanks to Te Reo Maori for the healing of my Hinengaro, if it wasn't for this cache those frightening moments would be still locked away.
