Logs for Toyota Trekkers

31-Mar-06
We think the Park police may have found our cache, as it is the 2nd one to have gone missing at Point Lookout. As our aim was to get visitors off the main road to view the magnificent scenery, we may have to try for somewhere else. Our apologies to those who were unsuccessful, but hopefully, like our recent American cachers, you would still have enjoyed the visit.

11-Mar-06
Having visited this lookout several times and driven past it many, I coerced the other half into looking for cache. Lovely warm autumn day, but after much looking, we were not successful. Will check coordinates and try again sometime.

05-Mar-06
Set out to retrieve camera for OzGuff and found coordinates were not in GPS. However, thanks to Mother's great memory, found the cache without any trouble. It was a cool day with drizzly rain, with quite a bit of water going over the falls following a week of rain in nearby range that caused flooding on the coast. Used last 2 shots in camera. Also drove on to check out Ebor Falls which were running a gusher. We never tire of the views in this area. Love it!

29-Jan-06
Whilst everyone else has found this cache easily, we could not find it. Will give it another try soon.

We are bird watchers and have visited the hide many times. Saw about 12 species today without really trying.

Set out to find cache yesterday but batteries died within a stone's throw of it. No troubles finding it today. Took potato peeler, left picture stand. Contents are a little damp probably due to broken corner of container.

As we were asked to monitor this cache last August, thought we should do our duty. It has been placed in an excellent spot and we have promised ourselves to go back and enjoy the river on a hot day.

Found cache without too much trouble. Took a Geo Postal TB and an Isle of Man key ring. Left postcard retrieved from cache in Darwin, and pack of tissues.

It is hard to believe that the terrain here is so close to that at the "Hide and Seek" cache. See photos on respective pages.

21-Jan-06
Travelled from the New England area for a surf at Coffs and this time had our caching coordinates with us. We'd visited this spot several times before but were never organised, so finding the cache was very satisfying. The views are indeed spectacular from here, and there were many tourists enjoying them.

30-Dec-05
SmileIn company with Rav 4 Raiders, found this during an enjoyable couple of days on KI. Despite really hot weather, visit was great.

29-Dec-05
Makes one appreciate how easy our life is in comparison especially after hearing the story of the Lighthouse Keeper's Death.

Took a little searching, but eventually found cache, in company with Rav 4 Raiders. Really enjoying our visit to the Island.

28-Dec-05
Daughter (half of RVR) and I found this cache without too much effort. At first, thought the nearby dead cat was a clever camouflage! Took party popper for New Year celebrations, left 20 cent coin. Having to keep the find secret from her hubbie was difficult but well worth it.

Must agree with Alex about the flies. Wink Male Trekker responsible for this find along with R4R - TNLN. Views were amazing. No flies at top of lighthouse - wind too strong.
Thanks for cache.

My second "secret" find of the day, in company with daughter (Rav4R). Photo says it all (and that's on a good day). Thanks for the cache.

24-Dec-05
First solo find on SA holiday. Quite easy, noone around on Christmas Eve. Signed log, took Joker. Thanks Rav4 Raiders.

Smile No2. find on SA holiday. This was a drive-by. Signed log. Thank you.

15-Sep-05
I couldn't find it either. There were a few people around who ignored me wandering around searching high and low.

03-Sep-05
Found it around 1630 after checking out almost every piece of timber in the area. Had visited Dangars Falls several times previously but had never crossed to the other side. Good walk (tho' probably longer than we'd have liked at that time of the day and with misty rain falling), however a successful find is always good.

Took US$5 (will send to grandchildren in N.Carolina), left shampoo.

Bonus was meeting a young echidna and several rock wallabies along the way.

11-Aug-05
Must have missed the TB taken by Mike by a matter of hours. Found the cache without any difficulty, but there were bugs a plenty. Maybe we'd grown soft after 4 1/2 years away from Darwin.

Left Sacagawea II Travel Bug Dog Tag which is hoping to return to the Lewis and Clark Trail in Oregon, USA.

Toyota Trekkers

PS Where did the Post-card from Dresden come from and when was it left at the cache? Will write details on its back side and try to keep track of its journey.

07-Aug-05
A cloudless blue sky provided a good shadow on the sundial which was approx. 15 minutes out by our clock. We arrived at 2:03pm.

Easy find on a sunny but very cool afternoon. Took SES key ring, left Edward Jones Kitchen handy.

28-May-05
As we had earlier decided to place a cache in this area, it seems only fitting that we should be the first to find Roamin Engineer's well-hidden cache.

The current drought has reduced the water flow but views are still spectacular.

08-Jan-05

An easy walk led us to the cache which is in good order.

Took the Sacagawea II Travel Bug Dog Tag, left an OzeGuff mighty grip.

We spent the morning picking berries at nearby Niangala before heading off to locate the cache.
Except for winter months when the berry farm is closed, it is well worth while to drive the extra ks. to visit.

02-Jan-05
Cache has been taken. So sad - views from Point Lookout made this an ideal cache site.

27-Dec-04
Checked our cache over the Christmas break but did not find it. Apologies to Xixau & Shenzi who tried to find it recently - hope the views from Point Lookout made your visit worthwhile.

29-Jul-04
The "better half"? found this in company of OzGuff and OzMeg.

Thank goodness they return to the US soon - they set quite a hectic pace and are much fitter than us "olds".

Did not sign log book - too busy catching breath.

26-Jul-04
Our first Australian find, although have previously found caches in US accompanied by OzGuff.

Found this relatively easy. Took classical CD, left Cole Porter, signed log-book.

Hopefully, the start of an interesting new outdoor experience.

25-Jul-04
Our first caching effort since registering, and we learned the lesson of checking before setting out. Had printed off coordinates on 22nd July, apparently hours before the cache was temporarily removed.

Did, however, find a zip-lock back containing a stuffed animal which we assumed was the remnants of the cache. We certainly had the coordinates correct.

Look forward to having another try later.
