Logs for kryslazz

24-Aug-23
After miss3 and I had ventured down to the lighthouse for a look, we got in the car and headed of to GZ. It was an absolutely beautiful view and with the wind howling I felt it would push us right off the hill.

Thankyou so much for the cache x

Hahaha when I saw a random 2 caches in Walkerville North, I allocated an hour and a bit to quickly get them and then head to the beach with Miss3 as promised all day.

Again… haha. We had a bit of a search around and nothing really presented itself. Then I read the attributes and looked up for the drop bears.

“Miss3… I found it!”

“Where mummy?”

I did not have the specific TOTT. When I saw that in someone’s log earlier… I thought I was set with my tweezers…. Lol

God I’m glad I’m more agile these days… problem was…. Miss3 demanded she wanted to come with me.

How do you explain to a fully independent 3 year old who you guide and teach her she can try and achieve anything… that this one is beyond her? She wasn’t happy!!!

First thing to tackle… yuckkkkkk, the ants… I had no other way of reaching gz without shimmying on my belly. I tried to wipe off as many ants as I could and ventured closer.

Brand new log was in good condition, but the majority hangs out and is exposed.

When I returned to Miss3… she was still filthy mad. Maybe in a year or so baby.

Loved this one in such a random location. Didn’t see any full sized drop bears today. Lucky I hadn’t promised her one of them.

Aggghhhhhh No! Not today folks. Damn. Today had already been such an amazing, but big day… and I had promised Miss3 ‘proper’ time at the beach. So secretly I was waiting for a relatively quick find.

Jokes on me. Got I wish I had the time. And gloves!!! I started to have a look hoping I may just be lucky. As I picked each one up, I become increasingly freaked out by the amount of spider sacks and big thick spiders!

I didn’t have a good look. And knew this was a cache that deserved time and patience.

Hopefully if I’m ever down this way, I might be able to give it a better go. As for today, that’s a wrap. Let’s go to the beach and relax Miss3.

Hope it’s not another 2 years inbetween caches coz god I missed it and love it.

TFTC anyway ️

The second day down at Sandy point with the 3 year old. I spent sometime last night planning the day around the area and based it around doin this cache first somewhere between 9.30-11.30 at low tide.

We got to the rock at 9.30. I was pretty excited. Miss 3 was happy discovering lots of little caves away and surprised there were no bears in them.

When we first got there, I put her on my back and navigated our way down into the cave. Such a special moment.

That’s where the good times ended. I left her down in the sand playing a collecting shells and tried to keep an eye on her as much as possible. It shouldn’t take too long should it?

I read the description wrong and thought I needed to get the the top of the rock. I tried 3 different routes to no avail. How the hell do I get up there. So i went and checked on miss. You find the treasure mumma? Everytime she asked and I had to say no, it broke my spirit a little more.

Determined I thought I could see a possible path and I ever so slightly and very slowly made my way up. At one point the rockface was crumbling at my feet on a very small ledge and no matter where I tried to get a hold for my hands, the rocks broke off as well. This is dangerous… I looked down to where the rocks had fallen below me and thought… what is miss 3 going to do if I actually fall here… this was a stupid idea.

I got up to the top and looked around the solitary tree for the rocks in the description… nothing. What am I missing.

Then I read it…. Half way up the path… I nearly cried lol. So down I went and it was much more dangerous going down than up. “You find the treasure mumma?” No baby.

Every single step was done slowly. As I moved down I looked around both to the left and the right. Everywhere I could check, I checked. Nothing.

Dow on the beach playing for a second with miss3, I felt defeated. I looked around and saw the rock that wasn’t so big to the left. It was still a decent climb. So I thought. Alright I will try up there and off I went. It wasn’t quite as dangerous, but I still took my time to look both sides of the way up. When I got to the top again nothing.

I decided to look at the cache page images. I used a photo from 2012 and 2015 for reference… I was too high. That Little Rock in the distance is almost at the same height at those photos. I am well above it. So, I came down again.

I went in the direction back at the cave where we had walked past when we first got here, now 1 and a half hours ago. I kept using those photos as a reference and lined them up with what I was looking at.

When I thought I knew round about where they must have been standing, I thought… what? Up there? Path yup, there is no path there and it’s just randomly on the side of the rock no where near a path.

This is my last try. If it’s not here. I give up. I don’t give up easily. And I’d wanted so badly to get a tick on this particular caches. I almost shed a tear with emotion building thinking about how defeated I had gotten.

One last check on miss3 and off I climbed. I looked in the obvious spot to the right, up in a little hole, everywhere I could reach and the tear actually came. So dramatic krystal. Geez. But I was done. Succumbed to the fact that now two hours of searching, grazes and scrapes, I was going to get a DNF on this cache. I was gutted. I was still holding tight to the cliff face, turned around to assess the best next place to put my foot as I started to make my way back down… when I saw a Little Rock in a hole that looked out of place. Lifted the rock… YOU B***ARD!!! Keeping my balance and trying to sign the log was also difficult but more joyful than I could imagine. “You find the treasure mumma” yeah baby I sighed.

Despite all of this… it’s an amazing location and I (kinda) Thankyou for bringing me here Smile)) hahaha

I have to admit…. After the last cache ordeal, I didn’t really have the patience to look properly. Little miss 3 and I climbed up the hill from the treasure but the little trooper was tired… so up on my back it was and we climbed to the top. She didn’t have shoes I so I told her to wait on the path for mummy and I would find it. When to all the obvious places, but nope.

But I wanna help you find it mumma she said. If only you were older kiddo and you could help a frustrated warm out mumma hahaha

I’m done I thought. I need to get her back to the car and maybe we can come back to walkerville south later on in the day after the lighthouse. I wanted to see what the area was like on high tide and do the adventure lab caches nearby anyway.

When I heard… mumma… I found the treasure!!!!! She only started geocaching with me yesterday and we had only really found sistemas, not overly hard ones or camouflaged ones.

I looked at what she had pointed out…. There is nooooo possible way!!! Oh my god… I looked closer and sure enough the little legend had found the little sucker.

How? How would she have even know that was a geocache? I was gobsmacked. And… so very proud of my little geocacher hahaha

Wasn’t long before my name was signed and I was able to put a smiley on this one.

I’m still in shock! Hahaha TFTC x

I recently quit my job of 8 years for a fresh start in an new one in a couple of weeks.

I needed to recharge. The last one had sucked the life out of me and I was spent. That’s it I thought…. I have to get away. Queensland? Hervey Bay to my uncle? It was all too hard and to be honest, I didn’t want to need to have a holiday to get over my holiday.

Somewhere remote. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do but relax and spend some well due time with the 3 and a half year old. She doesnt get enough of my time. I work to hard. And I hate it.

I ended up at Sandy point. I woke up and thought, we need to get out and have a look at this beautiful place. Where do we go? What is there to see? Where are the best places.

Geocaching! I haven’t had the time, energy or patience to really get out and about in years to be honest. Opened my app and thought… I’ll try and get the ones around. Didn’t know what the tolerance and patience of my 3 year would be like. Didn’t know what she was capable or and if a bit of bush bashing would be too much. I was wrong and didn’t need to worry.

What a trooper. “Let’s find more treasure mumma?” And so it be.

When we turned up to this beach, it was good timing, tide was out. I’d never driven on a beach and sand before and was pretty excited. What a cool little adventure.

The cache itself, like others have said was a little further in the bush than GZ

I really appreciate the cache and bringing me here when this would never have been something that would have come up in google search for the ‘best things to do in Sandy Point”

Neither of us were disappointed with this one! We took our time. She walked the dog whole way. What isn’t to love about this cache. The view… the size.. the adventure to find the key. Thankyou so much

This was the second of our finds. Geokid stacked it on the boardwalk and as a result has a big bloody lip. Still worth it. Tftc

After doing the caches in Sandy point, we headed over to Waratah Bay. God this fourth is stunning. I had really forgot that. The competition with the 3 year old has began… I want to find it mumma!!! And I quietly pointed her in the direction of the cute little cache.

The geo kid was getting tired. But spending the time out here with her has been unbelievable. Walking through bushes that tickled our faces, stopping though mid and puddles and not a care in the world other than her and me and our little adventure. She actually found this one before I did… apparently it’s in her blood. Smile)) hahaha

Thankyou for bring us here.

We had finished our time at Walkerville South and the lighthouse. The next destination was Walkerville North. There really is never enough different angles of this view and I bet it never gets old even when you are close by and take it for granted.

The cache was a nice and straightforward one, which I was grateful for, coming to the close of the day. TFTC ️

Can you carry me mumma… I have no more energy. I asked her and showed her the map… no 3 year old should be able to understand a map and direction, but she’s a natural.

Mummy is a little tired to baby. But see all these caches (treasure) we have done all of these ones. If you are too tired mummy will carry you back to the car. Or, see up here… there is one more treasure I think we ca get before we run out of energy. What do you want to do? It’s up to you.

Let’s get one more treasure mumma. And so we did. I let her lead the way. And told her, no adventure is worth having if you don’t get dirty… go and jump thought the puddles and mud. I felt like a kid again. Geez we made a good time of it. And I’m so appreciative of that so Thankyou.

I hummed and hawed about this one. We had achieved the little walk to the look out and didn’t know if the 3 year old after a big day of searching for treasure would have the energy to get there and back.

It’s only a couple of hindered meters. Its an hour or so to dark. I asked her…. You think we can do it? Yeah mummy let’s get the treasure. So off we went.

It’s a casual easy walk but for a tired 3 year old, we got over the hill and saw the path over the next one. Let’s just take our time. We made it up with no issues. How did the orange paint get in the rock mummy?

The log was signed and it was time to start our journey back when she was adamant she wanted to continue down the track in the other direction… and that’s when the tears and arguments started. She refused to walk and I was left carrying the little turd up the hill. It’s been a while since I’d walked and I did struggle a little bit we were back to the top before we knew it.

I convinced her to walk down hill on the last part of the journey and come a gutsa near the end. More tears.

Despite all of that. Just being out here with her not having another worry in the word was absolutely magnificent so Thankyou

Headed up the hill with my 3 year old who was excited to find more treasure. Hard to explain to her that there was no treasure with this cache other than the treasure of being here Smile

Let’s sit here and take a break mummy, the view is beautiful. She’s right.

Thankyou for bringing us here. It’s a beautiful spot that many would completely drive past.

I have just found this in my Drafts lists and missed logging it. Sorry. We were in town for the Womens Basketball World Championships and i showed my mugge friend a bit of caching. TFTC

Netball down in toora today and for the first time in 3 seasons, I’m happy to say it was a nice day. The last 2 times down here has been the most atrocious weather. Thought I’d take the opportunity to explore the area a little and I’ve wanted to see the falls forever. As I walked down I could here the pounding of the water and started to get excited. I tried not to be disappointed that the viewing area was so far away from them and I couldn’t go down and explore more, but I understand why Smile I haven’t cached in months.. almost a year. But I thought I’d open the app and see if anything was around. Took the wrong path in and made it more difficult for myself but then smile fondly remembering many geocaching adventures before it just like that. TFTC

I decided to take the opportunity and explore the area after the game. Beautiful day, but as I opened the car door I was sure the car was going to blow straight of the hill even with the hand break. They don’t build wind farms where it’s not windy I thought hahah. What an amazing little spot and enjoyed my time here.

I’d spent the afternoon with the nieces out at the falls and the mentioned they wanted to try and find a cache “like we used to”… hahaha it’s been a while for me too guys.

I knew there were some changes in boolarra I hadn’t got my hands on and decided we should go and get them.

So the race was on… and I won in each occasion!!! Hahaha evil laugh

Catching up on old logs. Found some time ago initiating a muggle friend into caching

Many council updates at the facility has made this maintenance for this cache too difficult

Its with a sad an heavy heart ive decided, Charli has ran his course. In hindsight.... placement should have been better and away from so many Muggle homesteads. Maintenance is too much for me to keep up with as time with Miss 2 takes priority. Its been an awesome ride mate, we achieved amazing things together. Rest easy with the Caching gods my friend. x

At some point, Kryslazz will be back in the caching world with much better placements and long term maintainable caches.
