I set myself two caching goals at the start of this year.
1) Reduce the number of days in my calendar that I hadn't found a mystery cache to satisfy a challenge cache. Razz
2) Complete my calendar so that I had a minimum of 5 cache finds per day. Razz Tick - done.Big Grin

Then half way through the year I heard a whisper about another challenge cache in the pipeline that required a Multi cache on every calendar day. At that time still needed 129 days so 3) reduce those days became yet another goal. Razz

Then Groundspeak wanted to start a streak at the end of August to get a souvenir. So I did. Surprised And I am still on that streak so I guess I now need to achieve 4) goals.

Today I just needed to find a cache to continue the streak. Surprised Sal was on holidays and happy to go for a drive as we have no geocaches within 20 kms of home anymore Razz And when you have to drive 40 kms for a cache you may as well do a nearby cache as well. Wink

This was the target cache. Never heard of the Bullock Hill Conservation park before so it was good to come an have a look. we decided as time was bit short we would just do the Heathland Hike which was the shortest of the hikes available. [^] This meant we stopped off early and found the cache. Smile in fact you could see it from the track (if you know where to look) so after stamping the log, we put a few more pieces of bark over it. It was a pleasant hike around but it appears the internal path at the end is now a walk back up the closed section of Haines Road. Surprised in any case we will be back to further explore the park. May even be another cache here sometime. Wink

**Thanks TeamUSBUSU for this cache. ** Big Grin

Bare foot in the dark. Acacia plant left it’s fair share of holes in me. Self inflicted so not complaining. Made the find very satisfying. Cache is in good condition. TFTC.

Found It!
I first attempted this one many years ago (and many times since) and just couldn't work out how to get to GZ. Today I came back with a 4WD, in the dry and approached from the western end. And that resulted in me getting to GZ and finding the cache! Nice little park you'd never know about if not for the cache! (mainly due to the persistence required just to find the way in!)

18-Mar-17
We visited the general area around eighteen months ago, but didn't set of on a search for the cache as there was an audience at the parking location.

Today we had the place to ourselves, so set off on the short walk to find the cache. We were probably better off waiting to find this one, as we were rewarded with a new cache container and nice new logbook. Well done on performing maintenance on this cache, I'm sure the community as a whole appreciate it, I know we did!

Thanks Ben and Alex from TeamUSBUSU.

04-Mar-17
Consolidated the two containers and replaced with a new one, and new logbook as the others were drenched. Have taken the old logbooks home to dry out.

Updated description to reflect changes to the access roads as well, Haines Rd is only accessible from the Western end now.

Out for the day with Tomboy and AnyMules caching around Strathalbyn. Big Grin

Had a nice walk on the sandy track and made our way through the thick scrub to find the cache. Surprised As AnyMules has written in his log there are 2 containers and 2 logs so we signed the newer one and replaced all as found. [?]

Thanks for the cache TeamUSBUSU. Smile

Found by The Boofs TFTC. No issues with the road today.

23-Mar-16
Well, the log was wet, so I have replaced the log to a new camo box but as it (the new box) was smaller their are now two containers at the GZ, one dry with log and one wet with stuff. Watch out the ground is covered with prickles, well I have been pricked! Still not the first or last time.
: )

12-Dec-15
Nice dry road to near GZ today. Found the container a little worse for wear and the log book was saturated.

I put it out into the sun to dry a bit, hoofed it back to my car for some gaffer tape and scissors then returned to do some temporary repairs to the container. The log book was dry enough then to put my signature on it, but it needs more drying. TFTC Team USBUSU.

There seemed to be a 4x4 club convention at the parking spot today, putting us off of searching for the cache. As we were the only 4WD fitted with road tyres, we felt really under-dressed with the quagmire further East of here. We will reattempt this one another day.

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia.

The rain was fairly pelting our van overnight and so with a poor nights sleep we were not exactly rushing out the door this morning. Once we finally had our '....' together we headed off plotting a course for Milang and collecting any geocaches we could find to/fro. Razz

The weather turned out to be quite nice today with bright sunshine and only the occasional cloud to worry us. Wink

Thanks TeamUSBUSU for helping us to tour SA whilst using Geocaching. Big Grin

Today was planned as a day to broaden our focus a little beyond caching. The Strathalbyn area offered everything we were looking for - including some caches Wink
The scenery was splendid and the old buildings with their iconic SA architecture scored many favourite points from us and the Suscoes.
That prickly acacia was really on guard today!

TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks to TeamUSBUSU for the hunt.

Suscoe headed out this way today in the company of Phetlern as we worked out way through the Strathalbyn area to enjoy some caching in the Bremer Valley and beyond.
It was a magical day with scattered cloud, a gentle breeze, a good variety of caches and good company.
The country side was starting to look green mixed in with some bushland settings that still looked dry.
This cache was found, logged and returned. One of 27 finds for the day.
Thanks to TeamUSBUSU for this cache.

After a fair bit of searching, I had a bout of quitter's luck. Just as I was about to give up, I looked across GZ at just the right angle ans saw a corner of the cache sticking out. All is well with the cache.

01-Feb-13
Spent about 30min searching the bushes for this local cache, unfortunately the phone GPS had me walking around in circles through the prickly acacias, but to no avail. Was running out of daylight, so will have to check out again. Hopefully it is still there! Road in from Wattle Flat Road end (west) is not accessible without a 4wd, should be easier from the Signal Flat Road (east) end.

04-Jun-11
Found this one with White Dog as we start started our track back home.

The drive in was OK, but I'd like to drive on that track to the cache.

I spotted it mainly because I looked down and spotted it. Wasn't any great skill just luck.

Found this one on the first day of the new year! Moster was with us this time.

08-Aug-10
We came in from another direction. The track was closed but I enjoyed the walk, did lots of photography along the way. After much prickly searching did not find the cache even though was standing on ground zero! Maybe next time.

08-Aug-10
Wattle Flat road access was a mess! Really churned up by 4WD and water damage. Road closed at both ends of the track, so walked the 1.5K uphill to the site. At thye location I encountered lots of nasty prickles/ muddy track. Almost decided to turn back, Two of us spent almost an hour at GZ but did not find it. I have the feeling that this one may be a lost cause. Rain started and fortunately another 4WD came along and gave us a lift back to our car.

Will keep an eye on this one to see if anyone else was lucky enough to find it

09-Jun-10
No luck today. Scratched around for about 20 minutes then had to leave for an appointment. Will have to try for this one again as I pass close by quite often.

Wow... this one was an achievement..... tried to get to it via Wattle Flat Rd. .... bad move... track churned up and blocked by trees. Approach this cache via Signal Flat rd and then Haines rd. ,,, very easy this way. Then, feeling very pleased with myself i hiked the 120m to the gz..... took 20 minutes of searching and prickles to find it. Where i first looked ( but i was looking too high!!!) A great little park. Its well worth walking up the track another 750 m. to see the view!!!

2nd of 6 FFTD on our way home from our week away in Port Elliot. Mrs E did a great job driving in from the east. Thankfully a quick find albeit a prickly one with Mr E in tow! 10th find of the day and 1897th total find at 13:50.

It's not often that we get to go caching this far from home, but as we are both very fortunate to have a couple of weeks off - - -. By good planning or design this cache was on our list.

In the right spot, but took a bit of scratching around to come up with the goods

I came in from the east which was fun with the GeoCommodore but made it. As I was approaching the cache 4 little bundles of spines crossed the path - a family of echindas. Left the Little Feet TB. Left using the western road - a lot better road.

Nice muggle free walk to the cache a few birds around we saw a few wildflowers starting to appear.
This is our kind of cache, pleasant walk, birds in the trees and no muggles. Took Nothing and Left a Boomerang key Ring. There was a few prickles on the way in but as luck would have it I had thick gloves in my bag and proceeded to remove the prickles for the trip out.

The road was dry and dusty today and presented no problems for the Commode. Found the cache easily after a short walk (if you discount the #@&$ Spiny Acacias [xx(] )
Attempted to continue further east as the shortest distance to our next cache on the hit-list, but after about a kay, decided it just wasn’t worth the risk of bogging and turned around.
Thanks for an interesting drive-by Ben & Alex. Cheers Big Grin

21-Mar-08
We came in from the fun end too, because TomTom told us it was a "road". Lucky we were in the Subaru! After finding the cache we headed up to the top of the hill because, well, its one of those hills that you wonder what you can see from up there... the answer is... pretty much what you could see from further down.

Cow of a cache. Wonder what is up the top of that hill? Came in from Prefect and journeyed out via the very dubiously named Haines Road. Goat track more like. At least we had a kayak on the roof racks if it got wet.

Thanks guys for a fun cache.

At the cache, the kids ran all the way to the top of the hill, while we looked and Mrs Uni got a splinter. Thanks.

What a great track. An area we have never been to before so it was a nice surprise find. Took some photos of the wild orchids.
Thanks Ben and Alex, really enjoyed this one.

21-Sep-07
The track in was no trouble for our Corolla but could be tricky when wet. We didn’t see any cows. The cache was an easy find and the prickles not too bad.
The most enjoyable experience was being serenaded by a beautiful Golden Whistler while we filled in the log – haven’t seen, or heard, one of these for years. There were a number of wildflowers and a couple of sleepy lizards out on the track.

Thanks Ben & Alex for a most enjoyable visit to an area we haven’t been to before.

Pleasant drive along the track today, cache located easily on a pleasant autumn day. Left by the east track, a very pretty drive in the trusty GeoCruiser Razz
Took a parrot and left a koala. Also left Geocoin "Rolly the Beach Ball" coz it's nice and sandy here.
