Had a quick search on the way through. Didn't have much info so were searching blind. Wasn't sure whether it was private property but did have to jump a fence. Then we had to run so we left disappointed. Another time
Spent 5 - 10 mins looking for this one without any success, gave up as it was wet and cold, the grass to wet to get down on hands and knees, so will have another go next time we are passing by, also I didnt have the hint.
didn't find this, even with the clue but didn't use the gps. Maybe this was my problem. Took a good 10 minutes while looking over my shoulder after reading many logs about cranky neighbors. From the logs that follow it was clearly there. Next time.
Cool rig!!!, this was a supper quick find with a quick jump when no-one was looking....oh the hint really helped too.

disregarding all the signage we had a quick sneak without success. With the info sign, the rig, the table & seat & the iron fence behind is it an official history site or what? Lots of people seem to want to know.
Good hide. Was able to get in and out quickly without being chased away by anyone. TFTC
Was about to attempt this when i was approached by a very irate couple warning me that the rig was on private property!!! Rather than getting involved in an arguement I retreated back across the fence. Are they correct???? Will watch the logs on this one.
Didn't find it

Despite a truckie parked nearby and a couple of u-turns made on the road we were able to make a good search. Unfortunately not good enough for us to strike oil on this big rig.

Travelling from Meadows to Mundulla via the 'scenic route'.
Another piece of history pointed out by geocaching!
After reading a previous log about a screeching muggle I was very nervous here and after a quick look or two, decided I'd move on.
Next time I'm in the area I will try again.
Thanks anyway for bringing me here.

whilst trying to locate the cache we got shoo'd off by a screachy muggle that it was her rig and her property
I wasn't sure about jumping that nice new fence, but there was a cache beckoning...found it immediately thanks to the hint, then nearly cleaned up a carload of Japanese tourists who decided that the middle of the main road is a great place to stop! TFTC.
TFTC, Had to first find a way into this area as it has recently been fenced in but succeeded and TNLNSL. Great overnight spot across the patch at the Servo and enjoyed a hearty meal there too. Wonderful area and a birdwatchers paradise with many difficult species seen there.
[:o)] almost got rained on, drizzled a bit, bitterly cold. nice cute little town. Thanks for the cache

Didn't realise Salt Creek was the first oil exploration site. Thanks for showing me this interesting site. Nice easy find. TFTC
Found the cache OK but had to cross what appears to be private property. A new house is being built on the site :{ The builer eyed us with suspicion. There is something wrong that memorials etc get fenced off from the public.

This is a really interesting location, it's a shame that after all the work that they didn't find any oil, although we have been to a cache sight in Lakes Entrance, Victoria where the first inland oil was actually discovered. Part of the old poppet head is still there but is nothing compared to this replica. It's a shame that the area is fenced off, it takes away from the enjoyment of the cache.
Thanks Kermit Jagger for showing us this spot and for the cache

Yes, the fence is confusing, as are the signs, but persevered and found it, despite a bump to the head while looking but not seeing. Left boomerang magnet. TFTC
Didnt want to cross the fence due to signage saying not to enter. Perhaps best to move it nearby outside the fence so people still enjoy the cool Rig but dont disturb the structure itself. Cheers for the stop anyways!
Black stuff coming up from the ground?? Where is Jed Clampet when you need him (Kids google it, if you don't understand) TFTC.
Sign clearly states autherised personal only and fenced therefore against geocaching rules unfortunatly. So we too did the right thing and didn't go in. Needs to be moved please.
Couldn't get in without climbing over the fence, felt very naughty given sign.
I am sure the cache is still all well and good, however it also appears that we were good enough to take notice of the signs and not go over the fence (unlike plenty of others apparently). I think it would be a good idea to move the cache a bit to outside the fenced area so that it still brings people to this interesting spot while still allowing them to retrieve the cache.
Took a while but found and logged eventually. The sign indicates authorised persons only.
Interesting bit of history. Had a good look over the machinary (legs long enough to step over the fence!).
Thanks, Robmc.

What a great spot to stop on our way from Adelaide to Mt Gambier.
I agree with others about the fence, what is the point of having the tables on the wrong side.
Almost had an accident in the nether region climbing through the fence
Thanks for the cache!

Are we allowed to climb over the fence? We waited until the coast was clear and jumped over. It is an interesting and unusual spot. We were staying nearby for a family renuion and thought we would pick up a few caches while we were in the area.

We felt very naughty climbing the fence so were were reluctant to get this one, left the kids in the car for a quick get away but took a great shot of Grover and the rig in the setting sun.

Olga and I weren't too sure how you are supposed to use the nearby picnic table, which was enclosed by a fence.

Why is there a picnic table in the fenced-off area? Found cache after climbing the fence when noone was looking.

After some erring and aaahing about jumping the fence, we waited till the coast is clear and hopped over. Awesome hiding spot!
What's this [?] Another Freddo cache to increase my restraint orders.
The owner found the cache for me almost where he placed it. After that, he place an order for mullet/chips and dim sims and a pot of tea at the Salt Creek Restaurant. Loovely. We all partook of the delicacies on offer.
Clear skies Buddy [^]
Dont fence me out.
Found after and signed.
There certainly is an interesting history to this rig. Fools oil and not Texas T.
The nearby border information was intersting as well

I have always wanted to stop and place a cache here too , but never did
I spent some time looking at where the hint told me but walked away without a smile.

Found by Mary & David at 1415. Took a while owing to passing muggles (very inconsiderate of them to stop here for lunch) and some compass glitches. Strange that they have fenced off the picnic tables. When the coast was clear, we braved the fence and grabbed the cache. Our thanks again to 'Kermit Jagger'
all ways wanted to stop for a look at this rig but never got around to it. thanks for the excuse tnln
A quick stop to visit the rig that I've driven past many times. didn't even break the GPSr out of it's cradle for this one.
I made hard work of this - Had to read the clue then it all became clear.

15:40 Found on our Touring Tassie and Beyond 2009 Trip!
M had to jump the fence and do the hard work whilst A sat in the car and ate chocolate. Something's aren't always fair
Quickly located the cache, and took care of the logging before going back over the fence, and to the warmth of the car. We are slowly getting closer to home, after being away for nearly 3 weeks.

Started looking for this one, but when we came around to the opposite side from where we started we found the no entry sign and we thought that we are here already so we might as well finish the job.
However, even with our searching we still came away empty handed?

With a fence around the cache and signs indicating no public access, it would be a good idea to review this cache.
While it is an interesting site, maybe it is getting to be a bit unsafe for the public?

I'm a bit concerned about this one. The new fence clearly deliniates where people are and are not allowed, and the big sign states that access isnt allowed. I will admit I didnt let this stop me logging the find, but I really think the cache should be moved to outside the fence to be safe. Nothing would be lost from the spirit of the find, and there would not be any problems with the sign or fence.
Found at 1315 hrs, 5th for today.
