WayneAPN has been all work lately and no play lately so I flicked him a message during the week to see if I could drag his sorry looking butt out for a few caches today And so a plan was hatched to head down South to Callington, Woodchester and Strathalbyn for the day.The weather is cool and some showers are expected but that wont deter us at all.Cache quickly found here and log signedTFTC

Knowing I was going to be in the region today, I looked at this one last night and ran the required projections to get a worthy final.Today I was out with Doineedthis to attend the local event, and to grab a bunch of caches in the Strath area. Thakns for the cache, quick find and sign here today. Found at 9.36am on the way into town.

Three Confused Puzzlers out for another Tuesday Trek. After the Rat was delivered to my cave, we trekked down to the Starfish's pool and then set out to see what could be found. The growing series of trads around Mount Barker were probably my main aim (all the newies were found, even scored a FTF on one) but quite a few others were found as well and we ended up in Strathalbyn before it was time to head home.Luckily I had a couple of previous finders with me to help me past the confusion to the arithmetic which I could handle and now my stamps in the log. Thanks to imhidingsa for making this cache available to be found.Cache #14406 for me.This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).****SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. Back in Syrathalbyn with Hellyonfire so gave this one another shot. Returned to the starting point with the nudge I needed from Hurtle. Aaaahhhhh that makes sense. Then off to the cache and quickly signed the log. Tricky to calculate but fun in the end. TFTC

I don't think I'm particularly stupid but this one seems unnecessarily confusing. I can probably work out some of the Co ords but reading the logs doesn't entice me to spend any more time on this one.

Think we got the coordinates, but failed at GZ. We will return!

06-Jul-22
A rare day taking the non interested other half for a drive to Strathalbyn where she allowed me to find a few hides. I did agree to stop at some arty farty shops and buy her lunch at a bakery which was enough to make her happy.

All caches were in good condition unless noted otherwise.

Hmm definitely no information at GZ. The owner might want to acknowledge that trees nearby are being cut down/trimmed and poisoned with many branches left lying around.

The cache is however safe in it's hidey hole at the moment.

Thank you for the cache imhidingsa Find Number 9815 on 5/07/2022

This makes just as little sense as when we visited last time. One for the Do Not Bother list.

We almost managed to solve this one without any help but our GZ revealed no cache. We appealed to geobuddies and they confirmed we had one number wrong…poor arithmetic…DUH!! Always check you sums

With the correct coords we soon had the cache in hand.

Thanks for the hide imhidingsa

Day 8 of our trip away, staying at Strathalbyn for a few nights on the way home from the Millicent Mega.
53 finds for today and 578 for the trip.
Dropped past WP1 yesterday and couldn’t make much sense of the task. Went home and through some solving unknowns and process of elimination, was able to extract the coords from the cache page. Dropped past this morning for. A quick find.

Full time nomads exploring SA, currently staying in Strathalbyn.

Okay we had no idea what to do with this so looked and looked to no avail. Using some deduction we started seeing some logic we managed to calculate the coords. Bit further than we expected but once at GZ it all came together. Thank goodness.

Found on a Barossatrip

It has now got to the stage where we have over 750 draft logs waiting to be completed. These range back over at least a couple of years.

We are not a fan of generic logs but with everything that has been on our plates recently we reluctantly have to admit this may be the only way we can get this back log cleared. If your cache is in our backlog it usually means it is one that we wanted to spend more time creating a much more bespoke log than this. But we are not managing to achieve that goal. So in the interests of getting the backlog cleared we have decided to resort to this long form of TFTC as a way of getting a large number of them cleared.

We apologise for the lack of commentary specific to your cache or event. We are somewhat targeted in what we go after. There are unfounded caches within a few kilometres of our home which we published before we started 8 years ago. We have just never got around to o looking for them. We like unusual cache types, puzzles in particular, older caches, and tend to target a much more wider group of caches when we travel. We like remote caches and caches that bring us to an interesting place. It is likely that this cache found its way into our find list because it fits one of these criteria.

As cache owners we appreciate the effort that goes into hiding and maintains caches so thank you for that.

Heading to Strathablyn to have lunch with a friend from Tassie...I arrived in Strath early so thought I would check out the caches that I had nearby...
I was stopped by the side of the road when I heard beeping from behind...
brisal5 was returning from his birthday puzzles & saw me so stopped...when I explained what I was doing...I said I had a DNF up the road from some time ago...
He offered his assistance and although the cache itself had changed considerably I found the replacement and added my name...
I thanked him for his help before we were both on our way in opposite directions...

Spent quite a bit of time here trying to decipher the clues with Wal & Ol and CacheClosed1847. It beat us, and with a number of other possible finds on our list today, we didn't linger. Another day perhaps.

31-Aug-17
This was a no show for us today. We id the PAF to check our co-ords and it was confirmed that we were all good. So we returned and looked a lot harder and still came up empty, maybe lady luck will be with us next time

29-May-17
One we'll need to return to. Way too messy for today!

23-Mar-17
Data collection at WP1 was straightforward but we could not decrypt the information in any meaningful way. Instead we used mathematical properties to deduce as much of the required information as possible. That led to two possibilities for GZ with one being much more likely than the other. We went to that location on our way back towards Adelaide and were able to make a quick find as the cache was laying on the ground. Thankfully the cache and contents were in good condition. After signing the log we placed the cache within 30cm of where we had found it but in a common hide location. Thanks imhidingsa for the cache.

This would have to qualify as the most confusing multi-cache description we've ever come across.

I spent about 10 minutes at the listed coordinates, but returned to the car just shrugging my shoulders.

I grabbed some photos of the boards to try and work it out back at home.

Out for the day with Tomboy and AnyMules caching around Strathalbyn. Big Grin

I had looked for this one on my last visit to Strathalbyn when it was missing. Sad Had worked out the numbers and had the correct coordinates and it was only after spending a long time looking and 2 PAF's that we decided it was missing. Sad

After seeing that the cache had been replaced this was one of our first stops today. [^]

Thanks for the cache imhidingsa. Smile

John and I noticed that this cache hider is no longer playing the game, so made the decision to replace this cache for others to find.

I'd just got back to Adelaide from a spontaneous caching trip to Victoria and made plans with the lovely Ozibags to go out caching for the day. We talked non-stop, laughed heaps, got attacked by masses of mozzies and flies, enjoyed the nice drive/walking tracks and stopped for a yummy picnic lunch.

GEOCACHING ROCKS!!! [:X]

Thanks for the cache imhidingsa! Smile

I had worked out the coordinates and they were confirmed by my geocaching buddy. We agree with JJ52 that the cache was missing, so decided to place a new cache at GZ. Ready to go again. TFTC imhidingsa.

Had stayed in Strathalbyn overnight and decided to do some caching on my way home. Big Grin
Like others I had no idea how the information board could be used, so worked out the numbers logically and got some coordinates that made sense. [^] Headed off there and started looking, but had no luck. Sad Read logs, but still no luck so made a couple of PAF's to be told at least I was in the right location, but still couldn't find a cache. Sad
Maybe with all the wild weather we have had this one has gone. [?} I will keep a watch to see if anyone else has any luck.
Thanks imhidingsa. Smile

Finally! Finally! Owl can now drive through Strathalbyn without this annoying yellow box popping up! She got help from another cacher, but still couldn't figure out how to get enough numbers. Another call for help got her there (after some debate about reading the numbers correctly). She almost didn't want to go to the final GZ, but the lure of a finalised smilie was too great and it is now gone from her map forever!

16-Jul-16
Dr Owl had a free day and invited a fish out for a caching run.... This means a day of good company, many laughs and a bit of caching thrown in for good measure. My tally was 26 finds, including a couple of unexpected bonus finds and 4 dnf's. After my disastrous directing
I don't think I'll be asked along again.Big Grin

I've tried to start this multi before but with no more information could work out what to do. Dr Owl thought she knew what to do after discussing with a previous finder but we couldn't get anything to work. I PAFed on friend who wasn't much help but wanted a chat. Dr Owl PAFed another who was more forthcoming and we soon had a final location in hand.

Thanks for the cache imhidingsa.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on route to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn (where we are at present), Coorong, Mount Grambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!

We couldn't work out exactly what we were supposed to do at the signboard, and so after scratching our heads for a while we worked the co-ordinates out logically, first by what certain numbers simply had to be and then by what numbers A B and C couldn't possibly be. With the updated co-ordinates entered we then took a short drive and arrived at the right spot by our GPS, in what was the most obvious area for the cache but not quite right. Fortunately a quick double check on our maths had us making a slight correction that then immediately took us to the correct Ground Zero. For an after dinner cache we had a lot of fun, but having worked out the correct co-ordinates we remain puzzled as to how the information board was supposed to have helped! Thanks for the cache.

Worked out and found by The Boofs TFTC ☺. Didn't really understand the clues but the maths worked out. Found the tin but it was empty so I added a log sheet.

I don't have to do this no more! Stood at the info booth and totally clueless as to what to do. Then noticed someone had done this yesterday so kindly contacted them to ask for pity to be taken on us. They kindly did and we got this today on our way home to Adelaide after a lovely couple of days at the nearby motel. Log soggy and sorry didn't have a replacement. CO may be inactive. Thanx

Stop here on the way back from the Nurrangi series with CPWanderer, Locus Cache & Dennis52. Glad I had not decided to place a trad here as it would have been declined. The cache was in good condition, but somehow the log had got wet. Unfortunately we were running against the clock with the driver so the log wasn't replaced. Thanks for the multi & cute camo Smile

The three of us were in Strath today visiting some family and on the way back some maths was done to find the location of this cache. Mr Tardis must have been in the zone today, I found the cache in the first place I looked. A really good hide, I think I was just lucky.

Signed the log. Thanks for the cache imhidingsa.

well had done all the work with no prevale last time i was here looked and looked

We weren't at all sure we had the right coordinates here but decided to drop in a check anyway. We spotted something and "bingo" there it was. The log was in bad condition. It was tattered and wet, even though it seemed well protected.

I was headed to Strathalbyn to visit my auntie, who was stuck in hospital, so what a great excuse to make a day trip of it and get some caches on the way!
Sadly, I stopped at 26 caches but for various reasons, I only managed to locus cache at 19 Smile, the rest were DNFs Sad
Saw some amazing sights and dodged rain and hail all day.

Another good multi-cache find while on holiday in the area.
Late log - nearly forgot it!

Cache log quite damp / wet

03-Jan-13
Having sorted some numbers ages ago, but never got around to going to gz.
Then came across the numbers again, awhile back, only to come unstuck at gz with my coords in the paddock! Gleaned a bit more info from a frog to find I was a few metres out. So stopped here after lunch with Mum in Strath, on a 40C day!
Coords I had still had me in the paddock, but the tipoff I had me search for a little bit and then found the sneaky hide!
Not found since May '12, log is a lil damp, but otherwise the log is a lil sneaky but in plain sight at same time. Just have to look in the correct spot I guess.
The dry grass around gz is very trampled, so I think more than the previous dnfs have been here in last few months! lol
I am open to bribes for a spoiler pic I took of gz! Wink
Thanks, last Strath township cache crossed off now! Smile

Out with the Rogue again to do some Strathalbyn caches. You had me stumped at wp1, but not the rogue. Very sneaky. Put in the new coords and drove out to find GZ. Funnily we had thought on the way down that a cache about creepers would be good. Not now. This is much better. Another excellent hide and deserving of another favourite.

Managed to sort this one out without much trouble and once at GZ also managed to spot the clever hide! Thanks imhidingsa.

25-Jan-12
Funny thing, I "worked" this out about 12 months ago but ended up with GZ in the middle of the field. Thought my numbers were incorrect and let it be, but the "thorn" on my side was getting more and more annoying especially as I passed by WP1 quite frequently. A couple of days ago decided to revisit the calculations and got a result that looked feasible. Ventured out this am and, bingo, the prize was in my hands. Wohoo! Thanks imhidingsa for the "torment". SmileSmile

We visited the sign gathered some info but had absolutely no idea (this was a year ago). We came back last night could only locate what we found last year but had no idea either. We had to use the phone a friend option again for this one and were soon on our way to GZ. Mrs C found it straight away, awesome camo. We've found very similar ones in NSW before. TFTC.

Looked at that board for ages. Finally gave up and tried to remember 20 years back to school to all those confusing maths lessons. Something must of seeped into my head back then because I came up with some numbers that actually worked. Big Grin Not bad for an art student! Wink

Who should we meet here but MD and the 4B's. We had just done a cache called 4B but it wasn't their's. Nice to have a chat and exchange stories. Astro lined everyone up for a photo.
The weather was so good that we had to move on.

We tried this one a few months ago and I had no idea with the co-ords.
This time it suddenly dawned on me, not sure why I missed it last time.
Well done imhidingsa.

Calculated co-ords seemed to look like a likely spot, so off we went!

D and a few of the Bs looked for a little bit, then over strolled M, "There it is"
Retrieved log JUST, almost paper mache.
Was drying log on the radiator hose when a car pulled up, and 2 guys hopped out and walked STRAIGHT over to GZ with something in their hand.
I approacked them and pointed out it was currently with me in the car.

The 2 guys turned out to be 'TeamAstro' with fellow cacher 'feathertop' from Victoria!
In a little over 12 months an 360 plus finds, this is the first time we have bumped into ANY other cachers!

I dried the log and placed in a small plastic bag, SHOULD be ok for a while now!

SL TFTC Smile

Once again, thanks and well done 'imhidingsa', as usual!

The interpretation of the clues had me puzzled as well! The calculations of Plan B came into reckoning and a likely spot was found. The final hide is very cleverly crafted. Thanks for the cache imhidingsa!

I solved it without working it out properly.

Unusual hide.

Quick find early in the morning. Nice hide. Calcs were a bit tricky!

Solved a while ago. Thinking back I'm not sure I used the correct method, but relied on the hint. Whatever, I must have found the right coords.
On a lovely autumn day I was in area for work. Quick stop off and pleased with myself for the speed with which I had this one in my hands.
Very wet!!! I managed to use a safety pin to extract the soggy log.
Whilst I wrote up some of my work, I placed the log on the tyre of the car, which was warm and had the sun shining on it and also some heat from the engine. The log was nearly dry when I had to leave, but I'm guessing it'll get wet at the next rains. I tried to face the top to the north because the majority of rain will come in from the south and or west.
TFTC imhidingsa - another of your 'talented hides'. Surprised)

Couldn't understand how to solve the puzzle, so used some deduction in the car to work out GZ [8].
When we got there, two women were fencing near GZ Surprised, so went and did some more caches elsewhere. Came back later, but they were still there, so off we went again [8)].
After doing our loop on the other side of town, decided to give it one last go before heading home and the coast was finally clear [^].
Quickly found, but as others have said, the log is damp Red Face. TNLNSL.
But there is some good news - the female fencers didn't find it Big Grin!
Thanks for our second major muggle challenge today I'mHidingSA Razz.

Had the scratching of the head on this one for a while but eventually the penny dropped. GZ seemed a bit to obvious for a imhidingsa cache so looked in close proximity to it and soon had cache in hand. The log is very wet and needs replacing as you cannot write on it. Did manage to scratch a mark on log but needs urgent attention. TFTC imhidingsa.
