It is with heavy regret that I am archiving this very old cache.
The current climate of the GZ is one of discontent from a neighbour.
Not due to geocachers upsetting his serene lifestyle, but rather him not wanting 'outsiders' from going near GZ and possibly seeing the illegal activity allegedly going on near there!
So as to not put geocachers at risk from unsavory behaviour, I have decided to archive rather than move the GZ and replace the cache. As any new GZ would need to be a significant distance away, and not befitting Barry's original hide.
Thanks to all the finders, alas there is one less cache to help your with your Jasmer grid now.
R.I.P.

This 2003 cache has been adopted by myself, when Barry passed away, with the blessing of Beryl.
It has run into a little difficulty, with the neighbour stealing the throwdown, and possibly the original.
Despite it being on public land, and near a publicly accessible track, in a conservation park.
I WILL be in the park on the weekend coming, to source a nearby spot to preserve this old cache placed by an icon of the early caching days.
Currently there are only 20 Cache placed in April 2003 in South Australia.
With old cache being maliciously being placed with NA logs, when those placing could actually work with me to preserve these oldies for future generations of geocachers, then these will disappear.
I have had correspondence with a reviewer about this cache, and it's intregrity... It WILL be replaced and re-enable for all to enjoy the walk to it..
In the meantime erroneous 'Needs Archive' logs by faceless sock puppet accounts and their owners will be reported to Groundspeak for breaching the Groundspeak membership rules, and harassment guidelines...
Please show some respect on this, and other old cache, showing respect for their owners and their willingness to either place these cache all those years ago and those trying to keep them going, of which it is not just many but many other geocachers paying it forward around the state of SA...
PS: Any logs other than genuine finds and reviewer notes WILL BE deleted and their posts reported to Groundspeak for harassment ....

More harassment, keep it up and not only will you see this very old cache get archived, due to your actions and not accepting my previous note... you will also find yourself being reported to Groundspeak for the said harassment !
Show some respect, and let it be dealt with. I am following procedures, clearly not fast enough for you!

Respectfully Hurtle, if future Geocachers have trouble filling their Jasmer grid in future years, then it is because of your lack of maintenance.
If you agree on taking on old geocaches, then you also agree to take on responsibility for maintaining geocaches within the 30 days.
If they are going to be disabled for months to years on end, then maybe it would be better to just have them archived.

Four months since this geocache had been disabled.
Hurtle, it may be worth sharing with the community your update for trying to rehide this cache, just so everyone is aware of your progress in the background, and the Reviewer is aware?

Here is an example of a seemingly intelligent person, harassing COs, so he can get a smiley on a cache.
I have been corresponding with the person whom took the cache, to ascertain a viable GZ that won't cause concern.
There is no need to archive this VERY OLD cache at this time, and certainly no hurry, as I don't see anyone else looking to place a new one within a reasonable distance to justify the NA.
If the only reason Davidwazza has placed a NA on this one is cos he didn't like being told that such actions gets old cache archived, then grow a skin...
In the meantime I will be back here soon, like I told him I would be in previous correspondence...

I asked the CO to provide an update to the community on this geocache, and I got an angry text message outlining how I was acting like a dick.
I only wanted this oldie cache to be restored and offered assistance with maintenance, however the CO does not appear to be at all interested in helping to restore this cache, so after four months of being disabled, perhaps Reviewer attention may help, or otherwise clear this cache.

Dang, I was nearby here earlier today mountain biking around Kuitpo / Prospect Hill. Had I known, I could have probably swung by and helped out with a new hide.
Hoping this 04/2003 oldie can survive, thanks Hurtle.

The geocache has been removed by the adjacent landholder (see comments). Sadly we did not read this till we got there. This cache needs to be removed from the app.
Maybe if I received a NM for this very old cache, I could do something about it! Instead of an 8 find cacher telling me what to do!
This GZ is now removed. I am the owner of the adjacent rural property and while cutting branches overhanging my boundary I noticed the Mentos tin on the ground in the open. I have googled it to find the source of Geocache reference. Please review the last few of years of logs and you will notice that it has been reported as buried and not in the tree hollow numerous times. If anyone had taken the time to inspect the hiding spot they should have noticed that the tree hollow was inhabited by wide life. Possibly a native Ring Tail Possum. I have removed the cache in the interest of reducing disturbance to wildlife. Another negative factor is that the track leading up to the cache is a fire track only and not intended for public access. Due to frequent vehicle access the Dept of Parks have had to install a locked gate. I understand that geocachers have particularly good intentions and this cache has had negative impacts that would have been difficult to predict. Please enjoy your hobby while being mindful of it's outcomes..... P.S. there was a negative comment written on the log, that was not written by me but by another local landholder (perhaps with a little justification). Obviously he had noticed it becasue it was not in the hiding spot as well.
Quick trek in to recover this one. worried it was a small but was not to bad managed to found quickly. TFTC.
An after work geocaching hunt for me today. Went the long way home. I was so surprised to be able to drive right up to this one.
Thanks to Hurtle from mogni

Found cache ok...it was open and log was elsewhere...dried inside of container and signed log..
Just because a cache cannot be found after a year from last find, DOES NOT warrant a NM log!
I was not aware the cache container had been changed, by the thoughtful Kookacrew trying to help keep an old cache alive!

A lot has happened since I was last here.
Suffice to say, the bones were not good.
But it is still a great spot.
Found after a little digging.
Thanks for the cache, Barry and Beryl

Had a solid look for a good 20 minutes. I noticed that he last log was 2016, and that there is 'caution' tape nearby suggesting a landslide or tree fall. Can cache owner please check: the tree at GZ is custom made for a cache: it would be great to come back to this spot soon.
Found it in the obvious spot but it took awhile to find it because it was buried. TFTC
**Out and about cleaning up some caches whilst house sitting in Mount Compass**...
*Out for a drive today with Tomboy 711 letting our GPS be our guide*... Found log and bag strewn around. replaced in a Mint tin (as replaced by Kookacrew)...
A short stroll, a short search, found the cache, stamped the log and returned...
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment Barryd_SA...

Found this while out to grab a few caches with Snap Happy...This was our second unloved cache for the day.... The log and bag were on the ground but are now back in the cache container....Thanks Barryd SA for placing this cache and bringing us here.
2lt container has turned into an eclipse tin, pink no less; a munificent miricial
There was no intention to go geocaching today, but had a minute to do a quick one whilst up here to pick up my son after a scout hike!
Nice spot

The 2 litre container has turned into a bright pink/red eclipse container, a magnificent miracle!
Yes a magnificent spot, pity it was spoilt by some bodies selfishness and the dumping of horses. Found the log no container only thing we had we could replace it with was a eclipse container sorry. Thanks Barryd SAfor the cache.
We walked the last bit as it was very wet and slushy today!! On getting to the GZ we realised we had stumbled on the spot that had been in the news so much recently for the illegal dumping of dead horses. "crime scene" style tape was stretched in front of the pit but this didn't interfere with us getting the cache from a little further along!!
Woth the company of CPwanderer and SOSE Officer, we walk straight to the cache ^^ but a bitter sweet find for me after realise that here was the place were the body of the horses where dumped just next to the GZ ... :,(
RIP for all of this precious ... animals

Out and about and we stopped here at this one, first thing we spotted was all the bones in the gully, what's with all of them here ??? after looking in the obvious spots and turning up nothing it was phone a friend time, we had the right spot but the spot was empty and after confirming the cache hiding spot from a previous finder we have placed a replacement cache here, if you don agree with this please feel free to delete this log, the cache now is a round 500 ml container. TFTC
Had a good look in some obvious spots, but there are a lot to look in if you broaden your search. It's a shame as I brought along an appropriate TB to drop off. I'll keep a watch on this to see if it turns up.
Pile of bones is a bit macabre.

Looked for a while here but with so many other caches to find 'time' was called and sadly it's a DNF for us today.
There seems to be even more dead animals dumped nearby! [:(!]

Found with the kids. Kids very happy with their trade. Lovely spot....but look out for the dead cows in the creek :/
Found it in good condition. I just rehid it when a couple drove up wanting to know if this was the start of the track to the top of Mt Magnificent. I had seen a trailhead back on the road so directed them there, then I continued on to the multi nearby. TFTC Barryd SA
Beautiful views and nice little walk. Geo wife found it. took army man left eraser. TFTC
Great location...shame about the horse carcasses in the nearby creek.
Just a quick scrawl in the logbook before making a quick dash away from the awful smell and back down to the car which we parked at the bottom of the track.

Nice easy find and nice to celebrate JJ52's 100th find with Roma123 and JJ52. The cows nearby seemed to be less than impressed. Thanks for the cache.
Found on a fun day of caching with Gemini7 & JJ52.
Left this one for JJ52 to find for her 100th cache. Great spot. Much celebration and photos taken for the event.
Thanks Barryd SA, enjoyed this one.

Phwaaaarrrr....what a magnificent smell
Hmmm something dead here and I was right; about 10m from gz are the carcasses of a horse and a skinned sheep. Both look (and smell) relatively new.
Advice to seekers for the next month or two....give this one a miss, especially if you have horse mad kids. I am so glad I didn't have geogirl#2 with me on this one.
Signed the log a made a hasty retreat....
Cheers

I'd already done the climb to Mt Magnificent so it made sense to come round to another magnificent spot. Bloody magnificent! Muggled by a half dozen cows, apart from that, not a soul in sight. Might have been a biut differenrt yesterday during the Heysen 105 Ultramarathon. TFTC Barryd SA.

We enjoyed the magnificent views. Well worth the walk up from the road. We did not venture up the track in the Geogolf. The nearby cows were happy for some company, I bet they are loving the green grass at the moment.

One of our favorite parts of SA. Great to find a good size cache well hidden too. Took a keyring and left the little book of calm for someone else to enjoy. Tftc
Agree on title after having to kick 4 kangaroos out of the way. Swap pen for beads on string. TFTC SL.
Nice easy find in a nice spot. Pity I was about an hour late otherwise it would have been a nice spot for some lunch. TFTC
First find of the day, the 99th find for this cache, and amazingly my 999th "Traditional" cache find! On the drive through McLaren Vale I was saying to Ms Shonky that B&B live here somewhere!!! Thanks for the cache. An easy drive by in the subi!!
Fantastic spot. A great way for the family to start their Easter caching, camping and calories weekend. TFTC.
Easily found, I was expecting to have a short walk into this cache and was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a drive in.
Nice cache you can drive right up to with really lovely views.
Plenty of curious cow muggles watching us and edging closer and closer but we figured they wouldn't tell.
Went straight for the cache, made some swaps, SL.

Had to pick up GeoDaughter from a Scout Hike in the Kuitpo / Cox's Scrub Area so left a little early with the GeoDog to grab some caches.
The kids had hiked through here with one of the leaders stopping to log the find. I brought the GeoDaughter back to log our find. TFTC.

Wasn't sure how far I needed to walk but then I saw something and all was well. A neat hide found on a windy day regularly threatening to rain. Thanks Barry and Beryl.
Magnificent spot, though I foolishly drove up in a 2 wheel drive car. Made it there and back okay, but when I gunned it to get through the water filled dip at the start, I rammed the nose into the mud and lost the plastic skirt at the bottom. Whoops, I should've walked it...
