Logs
The last log had us all a bit worried but we needn't have as this old cache was found without issue, the cache was in good condition, thanks for looking after this one. This was the first trip to the mainland for this group of Tasmanians in a while, we flew over on the 24th and left early on the 3rd. With 4 days in Goolwa followed by 4 in Glenelg we managed to get some caching done in different areas and pull in a select list of caches we all almost all needed, old caches were on the list as normal but also some different D/Ts with some high fav pointed cache making up the remainder. The trip didn't start well with Qantus losing a bag which made us rearrange a couple of days but we got some 4WDing in and a even some driving on the beach to get a couple of different caches, boat trip to Adventure Island was a great start on the day of the Mega too.All caches were stamped "Team Tassie" which consisted of myself, gooseandegg, Budgietas and Tassie TrekkersFound on 28/02/2024 at 11:09:00 thanks to Hurtle for placing this cache for me to find. Like many others in todays list, it was a bit off the track we'd planned today, but worth the detour. We found it pretty easily. The usual trio of myself, stainless steel rat and Budgietas was joined by Tassie Trekkers for The Great Leap Forward trip. We decided to cache down south around Goolwa, Victor Harbour and extended reaches for a few days, before basing ourselves in Glenelg for the second half of the trip where we cached around the city, the hills and the Barossa Valley with a highlight being a couple of hours on Adventure Island. Many thanks to the Mega Committee, all the helpers and many local COs who kept up busy and entertained. Most logs were stamped with Team Tassie.
This was the first GC cache of the day. It is always great to get an old cache which was the theme of the day.A long days drive toward from goolwa overnight to Glenelg via quite a few caches down towards kangaroo island. Some brilliant caches for the day including a walk through a cave at the cache surrender the booty and walk around the oldest EarthCache in South Australia at sugarloaf. It was a very pleasant day including a number of beach walks. Luckily it was a perfect day for these walks. Tftc
Today is day 5 of our SA Great Leap Forward Mega adventure. Based at Goolwa, Mr T, Gooseandegg , Stainless-Steel-Rat and Budgietas concentrated on finding caches with appropriate D/T 's to fill their Fizzy Grids and this was one of them. We signed the log Team Tassie. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
Then you need to log a DNF NOT a NM, if you can't find it. Given you not got any finds yet, maybe some experience needed also...
Di insisted the kids wanted me to go caching for fathers' day, and beyond... so a full day and late night, early morning it was!
A nice old B&B cache. The container seemed quite new, but the logs dated right back to tht ftf!
Impressive. Fav for the location, history, and resilience!
Sincere appreciation for the cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance Hurtle .

Country, Coast and City... Caches and crazy company!
On the roads again, with Jack, and Purrfect Di driving and caching along the way wherever we go

- - - a cache a day keeps the boredom away
--------
Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]

Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on
(Covid cancels caching! - Flu finished fun!))
Keep a safe distance - clean and cache the countryside
Special thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas,
in sensible safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!!
[:o)]
C'est fini... For now... ... until next time!

And don't forget to put the June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... it'll be out of this world
Mr Tardis was on a trip down south and stopped by here to find this one. I found the cache in the first place I looked - don't you just love it when that happens?
A great old cache and a nice big size too.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Barry and Beryl and Hurtle for the maintenance.
PS: Sorry for taking over a year to log my find. I really need to get my logging more organised!

I know it can be a short walk to this cache but that’s not how I found it. I walked approximately 1.5 kilometres to the cache from where I parked my car. I dropped off 3 trackables. TFTC

To check on Daviswazza's handiwork. Well done on replacing with a likewise sized cache!
Tweaked the 16 year old co-ords whilst here. The original logbook still in situ has plenty of room still too.

found with mogni. out for a drive to cheer us up since we are both recovering from medical procedures. Took the 4 x 4 track up to this one. Not the best idea after having your wisdom teeth drilled out of your jaw but more fun. Drove down the 2wd track on the way out. Always good to get a 2003 cache. quick find. still the original logbook.
Thanks to Davidwazza and Jesswrigley for replacing this old cache to keep it alive. I am sure Barry is very appreciative as well. R.I.P.
Jesswrigley and I were staying for an extended weekend just outside Cape Jervis, and today was a small detour to Victor Harbor and surrounds. We attended the 5 km Parkrun in Encounter Bay, followed by breakfast, and a drive to Port Elliot and then Goolwa, collecting a few sporadic geocaches. We then drove back and stopped off at Ingala Falls and drove to a few oldie caches along the coast before arriving back at Cape Jervis just in time for dinner!
This cache was one of the targets for today, as some months ago, I saw this cache had been disabled, and so was on my watch list. This weekend, we were in the area, and so I messaged the CO to whether he wanted me to replace the container for him. And so following a visit to the Ingalalla waterfalls nearby, we took a loop road around up a high high 4WD track that tested my jeep like no other test before, but thankfully we made it up.
This cache had us looking around the area with bouncing coordinates, and eventually made the find. We thought there was probably much better tree hide options than its current spot, but left it like-for-like, but with more camouflage. We transferred all the contents into a new sistema container, and voila, this cache just had a new facelift to last another 16 years! Even found the current caretaker CO's first log back on 15/06/2006 haha. Thanks guys.

Found with Davidwazza! With coordination with the cache owner, replaced the container to perform the necessary maintenance for him! Davidwazza will elaborate, I’m sure. Fun drive up, although the road certainly needs as much maintenance as this cache did!
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention.
I am temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary.
Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
If you require more time please be sure to post a note (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require.
For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date or the cache will be treated as an abandoned cache and archived without further notice.

I chose the hard way to get to this one via the 4wd track. Well that was unexpected but fun. The exit route I chose when I left the cache explains the T1 rating. The cache container is telling it's age and may only last another one opening. Took TB. TFTC
Trying to knock out some empty spots on my hidden by month calendar.
Loved the road in to this cache. We were greeted by a young kangaroo who hopped all around the cache - cute!
Nice old cache still in a great place and in good condition

A great day to be out and about doing some caching. After chores at homes earlier we decided to hit the road.
Chelle picked out some that helped her fill in her "Hidden Month" grid and this and Ingallala were on it so here we are!
We were greeted by a small brown scrub roo who took us to find the cache. (Just about)
It's great finding some of these older ones and seeing the finders actually wrote a little story in the log book.

Found it. Unfortunately the container has some large holes and needs maintenance. The contents is a little wet and some creepy crawlies have taken up residence. Have slightly moved the cache to try and protect it from the elements. TFTC
Found on a day out around the area.
Came to this one via the "Dry Weather 4WD Only" track from the north. A fun little track. One of the reasons I bought the "Voodoo Blue".
Reaching GZ, the co gainer was easily spotted - and also looking a bit 2nd hand (it has quite a few holes).
Thankfully all the co tents were in good condition (apart from the spiders nest in the sunglasses case).
Great to see a log book going back almost 14 years! Had some fun reading through the names and noes.
Thanks for the cache Barryd_SA. Found on 25 Mar 2017 at 2:38 pm. Find #4345.

By the time I got here, I was pretty exhausted. Followed the perimeter of the forest with some enormous dips in the track. Quite a roller coaster. Anyway, I collapsed next the cache and signed the log. Phew!
Thanks for the cache, Barryd SA

Found all the Ingalalla caches today - started walking from the waterfall carpark and managed to get this one on the 6km round trip - lovely forest to walk through. A well-kept cache and log book.
Quick find on a beautiful day, Quite a hairy track coming from the Ingallala cache, but we made it in the end. TFTC
I drove to this cache from the Range Road after wimping out of the drive up from the North in my low-slung Magna. Nice spot here. TFTC Barryd SA
Always like finding caches that have been out for awhile. After brisal5 looked I looked again. How did he miss it?
Thanks

June Long Weekend with brisal5 and mogni. Today was a day of taking the long road home. Something we cachers seem to do more often than not.
Surprisingly we drove all the way to this one as our first of the day. We can only assume that it is only 4WD wheelchairs that can access this cache. It took a little hunting for such a big cache, but eventually we found it. TFTC Barryd.

After a great June Long Weekend with Aussie M&M and Mogni it was time to head home and collect some caches along the way. . I walked to the right tree and had a boy look. Looked at the GPS which was erratic under the tree cover and walked away. Mogni came over and had a girl look and of course found the cache. It had been a long weekend, Thanks Barryd SA

We enjoyed the drive up to this cache, along the quiet, serene track to GZ. We ate lunch in the car before setting off on the short stroll to the cache.
It's good to see such a large cache container, especially one that's been out in the wild for quite a while.
Thanks B & B.

Another spot we'd never been to. Found easily. Stil in good nick. Took kangaroo and left cow puppet. TFTC (and there really were fields of hay as we drove in)
Sunday afternoon caching with Irac and Anana after orienteering. Nice easy find. Left a sheep to eat all the hay.
Had a quick look around, but a friend who was with us had left her sunglasses back at the waterfall, so was anxious to return and find them. Felt we couldn't spend any more time here, hopefully we will get a chance to return another day.
Found this one just on dark, this could be a cool picnic spot! Might also explore the dry weather track one day!

Stood back with the teacher while 14 year 11 students and 4 GPS's had a crack at finding the cache (not sure why they were 20 metres from GZ) [?] we could see the hide from 10 metres, eventually Jake found it. Took Sinker (which was used that night) left... darn it I forgot, I'll get back to you I'l also attach a photo!
Getting towards the end of a long day.

Our next cache is only 1.8 Ks from here but it will be a lot longer drive.
Put the 80 cacher racer TB in the cache.
But SA Parrothead isnt finished with it so he will be taking it back out.

Looked for this after visiting the Ingallala falls - went via the Mt Hatfield road from the eastern side. Normally for 'local traffic only' but we closed the gate as instructed and enjoyed a great little 4WD TRACK - great view to the west near the top. Kids went on an Emu bob and found this cache with much excitement.

The actual find was easy enough, but had a bit of difficulty finding the right roads to get here. Not to worry though. If we hadn’t taken a wrong turn, we would never have seen the great old ruin, complete with shingle roof, along Parawa Road. When I found the cache, I couldn’t believe that it contained the EXACT model of oil filter that I was going to be looking for in the near future. Left a colourful gold clown in its place. Thanks B & B
