Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Had a great walk up hear in the morning winter rain. Lucky I pushed my bike up with me. Great views. Well with the effort.

Pleasant walk this evening in pursuit of a gnome. Stiff climb up to the ridge that was a test even for legs accustomed to Tassie, but an enjoyable stroll after that.

With some time to spare today and lovely weather for a walk, I decided that it was time to climb a hill, Brown Hill to be precise!
It looks so easy on the map, not very far at all, well that's what it looked like. My legs however will tell a different story tomorrow I think Embarassed
Got to the top eventually and was rewarded not with one trig but instead tow for the price of one climb. You have got to be happy with that Mr. Green

An early morning hike up to the top of Brown Hill sure got the heart rate up!

Got a nice clear photo of the marker plate and discovered a benchmark as well.

An awesome afternoon was spent out yesterday climbing to two separate trig points! I've climbed this hill many times in the past, but today I was on a mission. I rode my bicycle in and locked it up just across the road from the caravan park. I then proceeded to take the most direct and steepest route up the hill. I'd almost forgotten how amazing the view was from the summit since last time I was up there. Things at the trig point have also changed. The big metal tripod is gone, just replaced by blue stakes. And they've installed a convenient bench for walkers to recover after the climb! After I took my photo here I moved on to Wylie Trig. An afternoon well spent!

Enjoyed a great walk up to the trig point following the path from the North (parking near Elmglade and Hillside Cnr).
A great test for the knee following my recent op, but I think I'm paying for it now.
With it being a public holiday there were a few walkers heading to the top, but they'd all parked in the closer car park.
At the trig point we rested and enjoyed the view before heading back down and homewards.

Whenever I'm on top of brown hill it always seems to be green. Seems I only climb it in winter! Nice clear day today, with great views of the city.

Having dropped the geoson at Mercedes so he could umpire the football, it let me have time to tackle Bald Hill and grab the 4 caches on there.

Great view from here and you could see the 4th Alarm Warehouse fire burning away at Wingfield.

Can't believe there has been no finders for this one! It is a great view, with a traditional cache on your way up here. Not to mention the start point for 4fun's Lofty Peaks #9(final).
Anyways, it is a great view of at least 240 degrees!
Hoping pic gets in here.....
