Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ. In this case it is at the top of the tower, an easy climb up the ladder.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

When we got to the trig saw the grassy easement straight to the road! So park on the road if you want.... I thought about climbing up this one, that's for sure....
There are magic views of the city of Darwin across Fanny Bay as you walk or ride back towards town from here on the coastal path.
A cache to be approached and departed from slowly to enjoy the trip as well as the find.
TFTC GA.
Thanks

Found with Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n. When I lived in Darwin I loved East Point. Love the history of the area. A nice Trig to find.
TFTC !!
(Photo will be added when I get home to Canberra - IT isues !)
A trig point showed itself.
It was obviously at the top of a column of concrete around which an observation tower had been built
No way I was climbing up there to find out
GZ seemed to be aiming at a concrete pillar inside a steel tower, so I climbed the ladder, stepping around the "don't go past here" barrier on the way, and on reaching the top confirmed that it was in fact a Trig Point. I took the requisite photo, with my gpsr and portions of my chest, legs and shoes also in frame.
To my surprise I found the name of the Trig Point was East Point, not Dudley Point. The name is clearly stamped on the brass plate, but for more clarity I've enlarged it at the top of the photo. I make this a Difficulty 1 Terrain 2.
There is quite an impressive view from the top of the tower too.

My first FTF and the first TP i've ever seen and known what it was. Coudln't find the little disc that is supposed to have the coordinates on it, but there is a big concrete thing in the middle and I figure the disc would be on top of that but I couldn't get to it.
Great views from here and I discovered a nice little beach that I didn't know existed.
