Description
A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.
A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.
Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.
These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.
To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.
The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.
Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Definitely one of the most challenging and spectacular trig points I have found to date and also I think the highlight of my Victorian adventure
The last 25m are a doosey!
Cheers and thanks for a challenging find Geocaching Australia

What a great trig to access. We worked our way to the bottom of the trig, not seeing the arrows pointing the way to the top. Grabbed a couple of photos and then searched for a way to the top. LL spotted a second arrow and from there it was plan sailing to the top. We snapped a few photos, enjoyed the views before heading back down to the lowlands and continuing the trip south.
Excellent trig and a bit of fun exploring the area.
its a bit of a struggle bur well worth it for the view.
and this much fun to reach ?
This TP is visible from the township of Pyramid Hill
The stroll to get to the TP is a damn good and fun rock scramble
If you have a few rock climbing moves in your caching bag, you will probably feel a bit more confident climbing up here !!
The last little bit of the climb should sort the TP finders from the wannabes though !!
Just look for the white painted arrow on the rock face pointing to the right for directions to the top
Best of all you can see the Trig Point all the way to the top.
Mocking you !!
Oh yes !!
The view from the top aint bad either
Max negotiated his way to the top while Roma arranged our find log on the Earth Cache only recently published for this prominent hill
We agree with Phetlerns estimation of the terrain level as it is the most difficult Trig we have tackled to date.
Thanks, Robmc.
Well, the tucker at the Gunny Pub is great and a huge feed.
At the Hill we stopped to have a look and with a bit of a shove the others agreed to make the climb. I'd been up the top a couple of years back chasing a GC cache so had a fair idea of the difficulty level of the climb.
Like Phetlern I'd rate it as a 3.5.
Great view and the chance to claim a GCA smilie made the climb all that more enjoyable - even in motorbike boots
The lady at the Mitty store was on for a yack and we spent quite some time there a bit of the story of the new liquor license laws. Her license has gone from around $170 to just under $1500 per year. This has made selling booze a non profitable sideline for her business. The increase is to be used to better police alcohol problems. I suspect there are very few booze problems in a quiet country town and that the money will end up being used to try fixing an unfixable problem in the trouble spots of Melbourne. Yet another example of State Government of Melbourne only looking after its own backyard.
Enough rant - we had a great day and look forward to another ride.
We visited this TP Cache, otherwise known as Pyramid Hill, after doing a GC cache just down the hillside - two for the price of one. Access to this cache is relatively difficult and we would give it a 3.5 on the terrain scale. There are a couple of very narrow ledges to negotiate with reasonably vertical drops if you are not careful.
