Charlie Delta founds it!!
Nice to have a cache within 1km of home! Makes an easy find for me! To celebrate the occasion i've dropped off 'little nic' TB after taking it for a wild and crazy journey to the northern territory and back..
Its funny, Little nic has travelled over 6000kms via every sort of dodgy road across qld and NT to finally arrive within 50kms of where it started from!! LOL
Well, we had fun and there are photos to show for it..
Nice cache i was wondering how long it would be before someone put one around here..
Good placement..
Cheers,
Charlie D

Charlie Delta founds this on the way back from the Northern Territory.. nice spot for a cache!! I wanted to drop a TB i have in it but it wouldnt fit!! Grrrr.. I noted that the Wild Blue Yonder travel bug has been placed in this cache but isnt officially logged as being here!!
Anyway.. nice cache..
Cheers,
Charlie Delta..

Route has been redone today. There are no fence crossings anymore. I've marked the route with pink tape so it should be a bit safer and more easily navigatable. I have found a few times that the trails have signs stating the tracks are closed to the public due to pest control. At the moment it seems the trail is currently closed. I just ignore it as i'm not going to eat baits and i've avoided any bear traps so far! However, if you choose to go up the trail its your call.
Greets to mantra! In such a place the odds of running into another cacher out there at all, let alone on a tuesday is out there!! Glad I did as seeing that you made it back via the path you took helped a lot in working out the new route. I went some crazy ways the first 2 times I attempted from the east and the current route i've got i'm quite impressed with.
Hey Four Bears or Mantra.. Did either of you loose the mouthpiece off a camelbak?? If so, I found it. Though I found it on the way back so I didnt place it in the cache. Contact me if its yours and i'll arrange to get it back to you!! I also found the sole of somebody's shoe/sandal but i'm sure nobody wants that back!
Four Bears, I know a cacher who was going to do it soon. I'll give them a heads up and see if they are keen.
Oh and btw, Mantra all 3 transcoders are identical so its all good.
Cheers,
Charlie_Delta.

I'm sorry that 4 bears did not succeed in getting to this cache. It would have been an awesome achievement for your 100th cache.
I have to reply to some of the points raised for those that may wonder...
First, This is a hard cache. When I gave 4 and 4 and a half stars, I meant it. Yes you will need lots of water, I would actually suggest about 3 litres per person.
Most treks like this should not be done alone, this is certainly no exception.
They often have pest control in this area, not just the track we take but others. I tend to ignore the signs. They are just baiting and i'm not really going to eat any baits so i'm safe Smile However of course if the track is closed due to pest control the decision is yours.
The barbed wire fence mentioned is not private property. The track you take is in fact the official walking track most of the way. When you take the left fork, you actually pass through a 'gate' in the fence. You simply re-cross that fence again at the spur.
Now, from what I understand, scouts use this trek to gain a hiking or such badge. At the site the grass is pushed down in the manner it does from large groups so I assume this is true.
The dead tree is the true start to this quest.
It is not easy.
***NOTE***
There are multiple ways to this cache. Some will result in more hardship than others.
There are rock pile type areas. I avoided these.
You should not have to tear yourself up on lantana but you will have to navigate around or through some of it.
Nor should you have to do any sort of dangerous rock jumping etc. Again if you find yourself in this predicament, backtrack and try alternate routes.

Finally, I did the final stage alone, 4 times in 2 days. The last 3 times were with a fully packed 80litre pack full of gear.

I personally didnt find it too difficult. I did it muliple times and took different paths each way. Some were worse than others but overall i didnt give it 5 outa 5 as i thought it wasnt that bad.
The first time i did this i did it from the east. Let me tell you, that was hellish!! I still have scars from it.
I meant this to be a challenging cache but not one to kill yourself on. 4 bears is right. Please dont risk this cache if you feel like you may injure yourself. Best to live to cache another day rather than break a leg doing attempting some extreme bush bash.
My final note is simply, this cache has its rewards. Its one that you will remember and for those that reach the final goal they will certainly feel they have achieved something. And the place itself is awesome.
I hope you give it another go one day 4 bears. Dont let it beat you.
Cheers,
charlie D

Nice spot, come past here everyday on my way to work.. Visited a little while back but there was a 'wino' convention happening so I aborted the mission. No such happenings this time so it was all green lights for the hunt.
Stopped in and found the cache.. Would have liked to have traded for the swiss $ but someone had beat me to it Sad
Ahh well, was nice to sit and enjoy the view.. Cheers..

ARRR.. A Pirates Cave just be the place for some buried treasure.. and maybe some pirate ghosts!!!
Found the cache.. quite trickly hidden.. took a while for me to spot it..
That was a cool little cave.. pitty about the garbage that was in there but it seems like a heavily used area so thats to be expected i suppose..
At first look i didnt think you could go through it but the little side shaft leads through to the first of the big holes..
Cool geocache.. thanks Big Grin

Lovely view from here.. very impressive.. Nice location for a cache..
Tell you what, kids cubbies have come a long way... lol
Though judging by the burbon cans, they are either older kids or some hardcore young hooligans Big Grin
Thanks for the cache.. was nice little mission..

Went for crazy bush bash getting to this one. Coming back down the track was a nice change Wink
Cache is very obvious and not hidden. Container full of spiders. Didnt have to look for it as it stands out a mile. Personally if I was to recommend going to this one, i wouldnt, its not worth the effort. Needs a smaller container, better contents and an attempt at hiding it. Plus needs a geocache sheet, sorry I didnt have any.
Cheers

Nice cache, found without any probs. Mental note to read logs and plan better. I got to this one via aboriginal art track! I've never been this way and thought the track wound back around but doh, it doesnt! So took the direct root from the back of the hill.. straight up and over! My legs are like steel springs!!

Ok.. my second geocache.. Took me ages to find this one.. My GPS was sending me in circles.. and i got my descriptions mixed up with 'really useful' so i was looking for a tree stump.. DUH!! In the end I followed my gps and it dumped me ontop of it.. Well hidden and a nice cache.. The feeling of joy when i discovered it has got me addicted!!
Took a picture..
Took 1x smiley stickers
Gave 1x small crystal from a forest in northern nsw.
cheers!

Ok.. popped my GeoCache cherry on this one.. hehe.. Found it after a little search. Had to wait a while before starting this trek as someone was at the carpark and i didnt want to cross trek to it considering the slopes. Cache is in good condition. Camera is full so couldnt take a pic.
Good directions made this a cool one for me to start on..
Didnt leave anything didnt take anything except for code Wink
Cheers!

Loved this cache.. best container!! I wasnt going to do this after spending way too much time at 'cache in the middle'.. as it was going to be a night mission back.. But i did it anyway.. was nice walking through the forest by the moonlight on my way home..
Cache was all good..
No travel bug..
I took $2 cause i'm sooo poor atm..
I left.. Minidisk and American Quarter..
Cheers!!
