Logs for Dritz65

04-Jul-10
Wasn't able to find the cache here, although we had the whole team looking under the front of the truck and on the ground under the truck.

We will have to return when Madstars visits to have another look.

Still the truck brought back a few memories.

Mrs Dritz65 found this one after only 15 minutes.

My beautiful wife has found more geocaches than me.

What a lovely park and the golden statue of the cow. Geokids loved running around on all the green grass

03-Jul-10
Mrs Dritz found this one.

Chocolate Factory, Fantastic have never been here before although have lived in the area for over 10 years. Grand kids loved it, and enjoyed the grass area outside where we took lots of photos.

Richlink thanks for the treasure hunt we all enjoyed it. Credit card will never be the same.

Sam found this one. I looked and looked and looked but could not find it.

Well done Sam.

Found it this time.

Raining like anything though and the grandees learnt a few new words as we scrambled though the rain in search of the elusive.

Thankyou for the cache and the directions wassuup, it was a great morning out. Brekky at Palandris (a great meal) again and on the way back we stopped at Cowaramup and the kids zoned in on the lolly shop whilst we took pictures of the 'cows'

We took out a geocoin "Varuna 0970660" (Actually it is a Path Tag) and put in three toys.

Sorry I cannot find the coin described in the inventory, probably someone can advise me which coin it is?

E-mailed Varuna who explained to me what a Path Tag was so will place Path Tag in another cache.

Went to Palandri Wines for breakfast the food was fantastic and the grandkids had a great time. And it is cheaper than most restaurants in Busselton.

Decided to look for this cache but was not successful in locating it. Will wait for Madstars to show us how it is done.

Apparently we looked in the wrong place and will be attempting another search tommorrow Sunday 27th June 2010 (providing it does not rain) thanks to wassuup telling me where I went wrong. Many thanks for that.

Took a bit of time to find this cache. But on the second attempt after a cup of coffee we located it.

Lovely bush setting and a great place for a picnic.

Beautiful day.

Sunshine and the paddocks looked lush.

We even saw some kangaroos

Thanks for the the great location Spangles

Many thanks Richlink for the Cache. It was a good reason to get out the house for a drive on Sunday morning after a lovely breakfast of eggs benedict at the Goose Restaurant. And our first cache in a long time.

Weather was a bit cloudy and was a pleasant relief after so many hot days.

Whilst not too far from home it was a great excuse to take the grandkids out for a spot of 'treasure hunting'. And what a lovely place it is too. I have driven passed this spot many times, but never stopped and 'taken time to smell the roses'.

Whilst I could not easily locate the cache Sam did after we read out the clue as to where it was hidden. We took a rubber aeroplane and left a caveman.

Whilst we were there we spotted a playground in the new Vasse Township, so made most of the opportunity to drive into the Newtown Vasse area, another first. The park is really laid out well, a fantastic job done by the landscape designer. In a few years when the young trees mature it will be a great place to bring visitors.

The kids had a great time playing in the play area.

I unfortunately was not able to take any pictures as the batteries in the camera were flat, (first rule of geocaching make sure you have batteries) however, Sam has taken some and hopefully I will be able to add pictures to this log at a later date.

08-Nov-09
Went to maintain site today but a car load of muggles present enjoying a few beers between fishing.
We were unable to wait them out as they were set in for the day.
We however, had our lunch there and again enjoyed the wonderful view.

Will try again another day

Well this certainly had me stumped as my handheld kept changing its mind as to where the cache had been hidden.

I was quite convinced some junior muggle had appropriated it and of course once this paranoia had set in I was ready to call it a day. I was even looking up the trees for it.

And then of course along came Mrs Dritz with her very postive tenacious approach refusing to give up as normal and by thinking outside the square again located the cache. I think I have found only one since we have started and she has found all the others.

I notice no one else has had any problems locating this one which makes me wonder if I should take up some other hobby such as knitting

Youre right the B!!!!! **** mozzies they are a real pest.

Thankyou for the challenge

Dropping coin in.

Unable to find this one.

Although I see other have.

So must go back again sometime to look for it.

19-Jul-09
We went out to look for this cache today Sunday 19th July 2009.
There was a slight rain which made th grass wet and we got wet feet.
Being overcast and in amongst the trees made the readings from the satellites a bit skew wiff.
Mum again found the cache. She is like a bloodhound, and is an important piece of equipment to take along.
The team had given up trying to locate the cache but of course Ann found it yet again.
Well done Mrs Dritz

Thought we would look for another cache as Ann had found the last one.

I left the team in the car in order I could redeem myself but after 20 minutes I returned to the car empty handed and had to persuade Mrs Dritz to help me.

It took her less than a minute to locate the cache with her comment "is this what you are looking for!'

Well you gotta love them don't you.

11-Jul-09
Found this fantastic cache at 9.30 am this morning.
Took the grandkids out for a drive to this great location. Again we live locally and did not know this sight existed.
Mrs Dritz is very game although she suffers vertigo and we had quite a problem getting her accross the bridge at the car park.
Quite a few people on the trail taking their kids fishing also a keen jogger passed us.
The climb is possible not really a good idea for us older geocachers as one slip and they would have to get a helicopter to fly you out. I left Mrs Dritz halfway up the mountain in case she fell.

However a great cache thankyou.

31-May-09
We took off from home about 8.30 am, all 5 of the team.
The smallest team member fell asleep on the way out there, so his mum had to stay with him in the car whilst Mrs Dritz and I and Geocacher Ash (2 year old) went to look for the treasure.
Our 2nd smallest team member however decided it was not a good idea without mum who was still in the car, so Mrs Dritz (Nan) had to head back whilst I (Grand dad) the formidable explorer (Like Scott of the Anatartica) went on into the unknown for the sake of science.
I found the cache, many thanks for the experience and loved the saw pit and the saw blade. To think this is just sitting out in the bush and no one knows about it.
I wonder who was instrumental in setting up the site, as the fence around the pit would have to be about 30-40 years old.

However, on my way back to the car out came the rest of the team to search for the treasure. I gave them the GPS and let them search for the cache themselves,
Needless to say our very junior Geocacher 18 months old found it.
We had a great tea break in the Car Park before heading home.
Again many thanks for the cache and a good reason to go out on a lovely day.

Hi richlink

We had the same feeling as you when we were there, only thing missing was the tune from Deliverance "Duelling Guitars" .

24-May-09
Well that was an experience.

Had to park the car by the side of the road and had to walk in on this one. 1.09klms.

Not a good idea for the aged as the GPS kept changing its mind all the while, first this way and then that.

It however it did give us a good insight into how the timber companies decimated this region.
We had heard how they would start logging a couple of hundred metres back from the road so that the public was not aware of their activities and their logging was uninterrupted by public/green criticism

Madstars you would of been proud of your mum leading the way charging ahead to find the cache before I did.

As you can see from the photos she did endeavour to give me a few wrong directions in order she could get their first.

Please congratulate mum as she did find our way back to car when I was hoplessly lost and confused

From now on her nickname will be The Bloodhound.

The travel bug was retrieved by mum (yet again, I wonder why why I go along) and will be forwarded to Madstars in Newcastle to continue his/her travels.

17-May-09
Sam found this one today. approx 9am Sunday 17th May 2009.

What a wonderful experience, just to wander through this old growth forrest with the family.

The grandkids loved it and little Dritz65 the most junior one of the team would insist on wandering off on his own quest for hidden treasure.

The grandkids loved the little pressies inside and Mrs Dritz popped in a few extra ones for future junior geocachers

The forrest reminded us so must of the Kirup area.(Donnybrook)

Many thanks for this experience.

Still a long way to go to catch up to Madstars.

10-May-09
This was an interesting search.

Madstars will be proud of us as we have increased our team by 3 members.(refer photos)

We at first ended up on the wrong side of the river in the Capel Dairy Depot and the only way forward was to cross a rickety railway bridge with a 50 ft drop on either side which boasted signs indicating danger and trespassers will be prosecuted.

However on approaching the cache from a different side we avoided the unpleasantness of trying to cross the bridge and Ann was able to locate the cache cleverly hidden by Spangles 22

Again we have passed through Capel many times over the years and thanks to geocaching we have now seen a diffrent side of Capel.

The childrens playground was fantastic and the grandkids were thrilled and spent nearly and hour here playing on the playground equipment, which is far better than we have in Busselton.

We hope to return to this area next week to find other caches and enjoy Capels BBQ facilities.

This is not one for the oldies.

Mrs Dritz and I went out to find this one. Got to the "stream" and I in true tribal fashion, and being a gentleman, stood back to allow Mrs Dritz the pleasure of crossing this "stream" first.

I stood back with the camera to observed and record her comments which by the time she got a third of the way across were none too pleasant.

We had been to mass that morning and all the good benefits we received were fast dissipated

We will however leave this cache for another day when the Madstars team visits next.

01-May-09
Mrs Dritz65 found this one (I have found only one cache so far, after 3 visits) and she has found 2 in less than 5 minutes of arriving at the caches.) I feel this is not very good for my ego.

However I realize my place in the pecking order and I can either leave her at home in the future or tell everyone else a lie and say I found them.

However after 43 years of marriage I realize the consequences are not worth it.

Joking aside this is a really beautiful place and will be ideal for picnics. We took Dr Zeuss finger puppet and left a Rottnest Island key chain.

What amazes me is that we have lived in Busselton for nearly 10 years and again have never been to this pretty little hideaway.

Geocaching certainly introduces you to these out of the way places.

19-Apr-09
Went today Sunday 19th April 2009 10 am and Mrs Dritz located this one. Girls seem to be so much better at this than us guys.

Was our first multicache that once you found the way point then you then had to use a bearing.

Many thanks for this one.

Although we live local we never stop the car to get out and have a look around. But thanks to you we were able to explore the old railway bridge.

This is the 2nd Cache we have found. Quite thrilling. At least we did not do the walk for nothing. Well placed.

We have lived in Busselton for nearly 10 years and did not know this place existed.

Both Mrs Dritz and I were quite exhausted by the time we got back to our car. Will have to take oxygen bottles next time.
The track was soft sand which made it a bit hard going for Mrs Dritz.

Well done in placing this cache, it certainly gave us a good reason to get out of the house and to test the GPS.

Thank you. Please keep up the good work

My first find, very exciting to think other people from all over Australia, have been there and added their comments to the notebook inside the cache

3rd time I have been to the spot to try and find the cache.

I was amazed how accurate the GPS was.

Now I know what I am looking for I can't wait until next weekend.
