Logs for Lacknothing

BFredericks and I decided kind of last minute that we needed a road trip this weekend. We made a plan and off we went with counties, oldies, a webcam and some Jasmer caches on our agenda! This is one of the caches I need to look my Jasmer for the third time - so was super excited when this trip came to be. What a beautiful park and we enjoyed the walk to GZ and actually, Mr. Lacknothing called from Scotland as we were walking. We found the cache without any issue, signed the log and took photos. Dropped 17 travel bugs here. Thanks for keeping this oldie going all of these years! A favorite for sure!

Day 2 of our epic west coast adventure with the Hacks. Of course, no big celebrations happening this year, but we decided to come anyway and we are glad we did. And this was one of the main reasons for our journey west - the iconic (1 of only 2) APE caches in the world. We decided to take the tunnel and had a blast walking through it and doing shadows on the wall. We got to the other side, stopped to grab one cache and then on to this one. It was Kim who spotted it first, followed by the rest of the gang. It is definitely in here secure for now. We loved, loved, loved being able to find this one with great geocaching friends - Hack1of2. Of course, we took many, many, many photos and had to drop some trackables - one a very special trackable given to me for my birthay this year by Ranger Boy and family and the other a trackable that some other good geocaching friends won at a Leap Year event this past year. Dropped a pathtag also and as we were finishing up with our photos, a group of ladies from Texas showed up and helped with photos and we also traded pathtags. Thanks so much for keeping this iconic APE cache active after rescuing it from down below (and I did look down below). So glad that we had another option beside hiking through the jungles of Brazil - which, of course, I still want to do. We just have to talk Mrs. Hack into it!

As mentioned in previous log, we are down to the last caches needed for our Jasmer. We just found one from December of 2000 and no we are on to this one - the oldest cache in Arizona and another needed for our grid. I was very excited when I found out that my National Meetings would be held here in Arizona....as these caches placed in 2000 are few and far between and to find two that we needed and so close....we just had to. We rented a Harley for today and tomorrow and hit the road. Found a place to park - with the bike, there was no going on roads that required 4 WD. So it meant a hike for us. Off we went down the trail. It ended up being about three miles round trip, but well worth it. Had plenty of water and enjoyed the pleasant walk through the desert. Much different terrain than back in Wisconsin. We arrived at GZ and wouldn't you know, it was Mr. LN who spotted this one again (second in a row). We signed the log, took photos and dropped three travel bugs. Then we did a very happy dance ... well I did....Mr. LN just laughed at me. As we made our way out, we ran into Rojo464 and his crew and geochatted a bit. They were in from Colorado. Always fun to meet fellow cachers along the trail. Onward we went hiking back to the bikes. Mr. LN overturned every log along the way in search of a scorpion. He did find one, which was captured and now is living in Wisconsin. I searched out other caches in the area while he amused himself with bug chasing! Thanks for keeping this cache alive and active all these years. So crazy to think it has been here for over 13 years.

This was a very interesting earth cache. I knew nothing about estuaries prior to reading the cache page and doing some research. Found that I learned a lot that I did not know previously. It was fascinating to know the differences between the Hudson and the East River. Loved the view here, but today is a chilly and windy day so did not stay too long. This is definitely another favorite. Thanks for all of the work on this one. Loved it!
