Logs for McMacy

27-Nov-05
While looking around Oak Hill Cemetery, in Evansville, Indiana, I came across this marker honoring 24 dead Confederate soldiers. Below are the names and the inscription on the monument. There were two soldiers from Mississippi, but not from the 29th. I have five photos showing the life-sized Confederate soldier in corroded bronze, the brass plaque and the granite monument. There are not individual grave stones, just this one marker. I don’t know any history of these men or of the prison where they were located. I am intrigued and will visit the library to get more information about the local war activity.

Freezing cold in Posey County Indiana the morning of November 24, 2005, Thanksgiving. The family are still asleep, so I snuck out and logged a few locationless sites. Visited the following and took pix. Thanks for the finds. Mike

I got as close as I could. I didn't feel comfortable getting too close, national security, and all.
It was very cold the morning of Thanksgiving out in Posey County, Indiana. Thanks for the find

I have been going to this neat old Library for years. It is in the vortex of the annual Nut Club Fall Festival. It was a very cold morning of Thanksgiving in Evansville, Indiana. Visted these other sites:
