Logs for Team Madog
15-Mar-06
After eating a quick dinner at the local pub, we moved in to locate this one. I made the quick grab. TN, left a Team Madog wooden coin. Thanks for the cache near this interesting building.
What do you do when you have half a bus of muggles asking you about geocaching? Why you take them on a gorup hunt. Our tour bus consisted of folks from all over the US. About 10 of them were interested in caching and when I told my wife that a cache was only a few feet away, they all jumped at the chance to see what it was all about. With many of them looking on from the viewing platform, I and one other intrepid searcher scoured the area. We were running short of time and several were making the trek back to the bus, when I spotted the cache. Several of the group gathered around to see what the cache consisted of. Since we were short of time, I scribled my name in the log. TNLN. Thanks for the cache at this great stopping point.

After finishing breakfast, I started up the mountain to get this on. I started at the Kingsgate hotel and made my way up the trail to the site. Unfortunately, I only had 80 minutes for the trip and find. With my terrible GPSr reception in the cache area, I was unable to make the find. I did find, what I thought would be the right site, but time was against me. Oh well, a nice hike up the hill.

As part of our bus tour, we drove up to visit this site. Definitely worth the trouble for the view. I have a picture which I will post when we get back home. TFTC

Karen and I were up before our tour started and make the trek up to the park. Karen pointed out the general hiding area and I made the find. Took a NZ 5 cent piece and left a Where's George $ and a US nickel.
We were on the road south during our bus tour of the SI. We stopped near this cache for a lunch break, and seeing that it was so close, I just had to go for it. Of course we were on the wrong side of the river, so the walk was a little longer than planned. TN, left a package containing a Team Madog carbiner and wooden coin.
Our bus stopped at the restaurant for a break, so we walked down the beach to the cache. There rocks are interesting. This was my first encounter with a Gorse bush. TN, left a Team Madog signature carabiner.

My first day in New Zealand and I had to grab a couple of brews at Galbraiths, and then grab this cache nearby. Excellent cammo. I zeroed in and made the grab. TN, left a Team Madog wooden coin, a Team Madog Carabiner and TB Dash of the Invincibles.

Got to the gate for the cache garden about 1800 and found it locked for the night. I wasn't brave or brazen enough to jump the fence, so I'll have to save this one for another time.
