Azonic back to geocaching after a long time away. Waiting for a flat pack brekky and found the cache. Great to be back!!

Wow...
On the face of it, this seemed a pretty easy find. We took a leisurely walk to the cross before heading back to the carpark area for some lunch.
We consulted the trusty iPAQ and then the Meridian Platinum... then set out to walk the 350 odd metres to the cache. Piece o' cake... NOT!
Heavily grassed and treed area meant that the evidence of previous visitors (flattened grass) really stood out... a pity really. We found GZ based on the coordinates, though it seemed to float quite a bit. The Magellan had a pretty good fix with 4+ satellites, but they were low signals due to the tree cover. GZ was floating in about a 10-15 metre radius circle, meaning discovering the cache was nigh on impossible.
Luck was not with us, and we were doing more flattening of the landscape than we're really comfortable with, so we bailed... The 4WDer's maxim of "tread lightly" applies well to geocaching too!
Our experience seems consistent with other logs for this cache, so it may be worth rethinking the locale and placement.
Anyways... a gorgeous day and a nice drive up-country. Certainly NOT spoiled by the DNF.
Cheers!

...and a Great Walk we had indeed!
We set out a little while before sunset from the Marengo Caravan Park, intent on a leisurely walk on the beach. We weren't disappointed and found some fantastic surf-beaten rocks, soft sand & lots of shells to collect.
Sunset was coming on fast as we approached GZ, a surprisingly slow walk with the distractions... Imagine our dismay when we discovered that the cache was still 15 metres away... vertically... when we arrived. A little back-tracking and a deviation has us at GZ as twilight was deepening.
We logged, swapped & bolted... making it back to our starting coordinates in the dark.
All things considered... a very pleasant evening's walk/work.

What a place! We visited on a warm, humid afternoon (big rain just after we left!). It's amazing how much history is hidden here... So many families and so many stories untold.
We were visiting the in-laws in Bendigo and took my mother-in-law and introduced her to Geocaching... She loved it! Note: Not our intention to take her every time though
Took a little Smiley sucker & left an LED clip/torch.
Cheers,
Azonic

This was our very first geo find! Guess you could call us Neo Cachers! Great location, what a pity the mighty Hawks still don't fly here. Go Blues
Bit of a shame about the demise of the stadium... and how 'bout that architecture?!
Looking forward to many more... what a buzz.

Nice cache... notwithstanding the wafting scent of chook poo from across the way. [xx(] Outstanding effort with the location and the cache... details to get to GZ just enough. Nice hidey hole!
Sorry couldn't do a label, but left a log on a vintage CUB coaster (and signed the book too... don't mind a cup of tea every now and then!). Took a key-ring clip thing and left a Toohey's Red golf ball.
This was our second ever find... having a ball so far!

Thanks Ducks!
You may not remember us..., but we know you . We met you at "Wooden Work 10" on a day out with friends who were introducing us to Geocaching. Suffice it to say, the bug bit hard and we're all tooled up now with a nice Magellan Meridan Platinum & an iPAQ... thanks eBay!
Back to business...
Great multi with the potential to slow at least one of us down... I just love old aircraft! The same elderly gentleman that most others experienced was there still, ever ready to explain (again!) the old jet on the corner.
A bonus was the range of parrots hanging around GZ... got some happy snaps! We visited at 1355hrs.
Good day out for newbies (and we shall be called: "Neo Cachers... but only for today!)
Took: Small padlock
Left: Small stapler
Cheers!
