Logs for Walrus36

19-Nov-06
Saw this cache sitting right on my doorstep and just had to take a look. Not a bad spot, just watch for Geomuggles coming through from time to time on weekends. The whole area could certainly use some rain unfortunately.
Thanks for a fun afternoon's diversion.

Found with Duck + lings after a little mucking about. Lovely spot, great exercise. Thanks guys.

Found with seals and Duck + lings. Good spot, took the little ones ages to find. So obvious once you see it. Thank you!

TNLN. Lovely spot, like the container. Did not have anything really useful to swap. Thanks from Walrus36 + seals, Duck + lings.

Visited with Duck + lings today. Nice short and simple cache close to home. The lings and one of my pups found the cache very quickly and were quite excited. Thank you Deco, for a reasonably urban cache without the muggles.

T: Nemo TB, wooden spoon, wallet
D: toy truck, small electronic game

Scratched about here for over an hour. No luck. We think we were looking in the right place. Maybe next time.

We were in the area to find Rock On in Keperra when GPS Sonar showed this cache was nearby. When we had no luck with Rock on, we tried this one and Success! Nice little cache Wingaap. Thanks for helping me salvage an afternoon's caching.
T: kaleidoscope and small top.
D: Childs watch and hat.

Lovely afternoon cache with two young first timers. No muggles bothered us either. Was good!
T: Compass keyring
D: Stubby cooler.

Our tribe as well as Duck+lings went for a pleasant Saturday afternoon cache. We actually drove past it twice, before we figured out where the car park was even though it was bleeding obvious. Oh well. The lantana had been freshly cut, and that made it so much the easier. Thanks Georgie and Co!

Only had about 15 minutes to try to find this one. Didn't want to stomp all over the plants and there were plenty of GeoMuggles about. Oh well. Will try again another day.

Nice easy one with Duck + lings along for this one as well. For someone who has been associated with this object, it is a shame to see the decay over the years. It's certainly a good tourist attraction though. This cache could not be easier to do. My nine year old led the charge to find it with two littler ones trying to keep up.

After we read Hot and Sweaty's comments, we just had to go back for another bite at the cherry. This time we took Duck + lings with us and Hurrah! Found the beast.
T: Spinning tops, Woopee cushion.
D: Tennis ball, Key Car, Stevie Mariposa Travel bug.

Thanks hotandsweaty. Didn't know about the dino site here either. I'm a local too. Guess there's a lot a person can miss even in his local area. Looking for the cache site, we found a hole that looks like it could have been the cache site. I hope that our navigation was wrong.

Went back to pick up Oinks as promised. Took a few photos is all. The place is just as nice as before, but at least this time the cobbler's pegs were gone. Someone had moved the cache though. Looked in the log and someone had indeed visited. Hope they write in here.

Good easy one. Brought Duck and his lings with me for their second Cache, but first with their own GPS. I think there are some new members there! Thanks Steve and Deb.

Ahh, at last. On my third attempt to get into the local area of this cache, I finally made it. Brought a bunch of GeoMuggles with me to try it out, and I think we will have a new recruit soon. Lovely view, although there was a bushfire in the area the day we visited, which made the air very hazy. Took Puss-in-boots, left some pain killers.

What a fun day! Brought some curious friends that live locally along for the ride. They are now hooked Cachers and are probably looking through GPS webpages as I type. Swaps: A pen for a pen, 2 toy cars for a roll of tape, and a stubby cooler for a cork screw. Dropped off the "Oinks" travel bug, returning from the NT. If he is still in the SE Qld area later this year, I will pick him up again and take him with me to the USA. The kids walked out covered with "Cobbler's pegs" prickles, but with grins on their faces. Thanks HotandSweaty. Good work.

Not bad. Mind, you are right about the bugs! My legs are covered in bites. Never mind, that's what you get for not coming prepared. A good easy find, even right on dusk. Didn't have anything to trade, so I took nothing but the Oinks! travel bug. It can come back to QLD with me, and be planted there. If it hasn't moved far by the end of the year, it can come to the U.S. with me. Thanks for a fun find.

What a great wander about some of the sights of Darwin. Thanks ThomasS, this was a pleasant way to spend the good part of an afternoon. I had to drive a bus for some people part way through and come back in the dark, but it was still good fun that way too!

Took a bunch of Caching virgins with me to find this one. We hunted about for 15-20 mins, and finally had to call it quits because we had to be elsewhere. Ah well, we had fun anyway. Beautiful spot. Half the reason we didn't find it was the guys were just as busy taking pictures!

Came to this cache with the specific purpose of grabbing the SNAFUADV FUN BUG. But it's not here! Never mind. Not being a Territorian, I was a bit concerned about the chance of snakes. But liberal slashing with a tyre iron on the way into the cache helped ease my fears. Had nothing to trade, so took nothing. Noticed the paths in to the cache are becoming a little well trodden. Maybe the next wet will help that. Thanks for a fun find!

Visiting Darwin, and a friend didn't know what Caching was. So, we visited this one! Good work ThomasS, I like the spot. It took us about 10mins of scratching about before we finally tracked it down. Had nothing to trade so we took nothing. Thanks for some good fun!

Had a lovely day walking through the scrub finding this cache. Thanks davenshell for this lovely spot. I had no idea there was anything like this area so close to Brisbane. I question the difficulties though. We found it dead easy. Didn't take or leave anything, and Zippo the travel bug is still there. Oh, perhaps the plastic bag could be replaced, it's in pretty bad shape. We tucked the cache away out of the weather as best we could.

Our first Cache.
We should have read the text a little better, because the lady wife had a sore foot and the steep slopes didn't help it any! Still, our young boys had a ball using the compass and GPS, and were so excited to find the cache! We took a box cutter and a stubby cooler, and left some toy snakes and AA Batteries. We would have had an easier time finding it if I had used the correct Datum in the GPS in the first place!
