Logs for Bunter Hund

10-Mar-11
These are the coolest falls we came across during our NZ trip. I like the effort that went into making the cache. Great job! While I was logging, my 11 month old sun had fun tossing my shoe that I had taken off off the bridge. Fortunately, it got stuck between the rocks so that the stream wouldn´t drag it further down.

This car park is where we spent the night. In the morning we had a bill over $40 stuck behind the wiper. Pretty stiff for only cold water and no shower Smile
The famous wave wasnt running while we were here.
I wasent able to locate the cache. Figured it might have been removed when that new trench got dug.

After spending the night at the car park, this was where our morning walk took us. Nice views and so deserted early in the morning.

It was pouring rain when we got to the cache site, which didnt keep me off leaving my signature. There are some pretty big trees around here Smile

Funny, how the ban of food and drink makes you want to eat and drink at the car park. The cache was quickly found thanks to the well tread geo-erosion.
There lots of water inside the cache. The log is soaking.

I found this one on our two-month NZ trip. I figured there must be two equally tough ways to reach the cache. I decided for the western route, put on my flip flops (or gandals?) and started scrambling along the rocks. I was making good progress until I hit a bluff to wide and deep to cross. So I had to head in land which turned out to the much easier way. Fortunately, I found the cache much higher than I expected. The views around here were spectacular especially against the gray sky that started raining in that very moment. Following the track, the way back to the beach was too easy.

comprehensive log will follow soon.

I found this one on our two-month NZ trip. We had spend then night at the Matapouri car park. After diving in the Mermaids pool (what climb, but so worth it) I went along the beaches to whale bay where I met my wife and the baby. I didnt know about any other caches along the way as I had to limit myself to only storing 1500 caches in my GPS before leaving for NZ.

I found this one on our two-month NZ trip. Decent waves and a nearby surfshop gave me the only opportunity during the trip to go surfing. After bringing back the gear to Mount Surf Shop (way nicer staff than Backdoors) I climbed this hill. I was surprised ho steap and high it is.

Woke up, took 11 month old son and left so mum could get some more sleep. It was a tough walk with bare feet while carrying the baby. Its good to see that some people put good effort and decent trading items in there caches. Of all the caches I found in NZ, this one had the second best box. Four clips simply hold tighter than two do.

Pretty cool to see what the quest is. Carrying my baby son I decided to leave the cache untouched.

I found this one on our two-month NZ trip. After having been to the look out I went down to the road just to realize how close to the cache I had already been. The cache could also be called irony as the panels at the lookout tell about protecting the forests while all around you see heavy logging going on.

We found this one on our two-month NZ trip. At the Cascade River camp ground we spend two days, so we could tidy and clean up the inside of our van. The nature walk was very cool in this rainy misty weather. First, it seemd like the cache was on the other side of the river. Though soon it became clear where to search and find!!

Wow, what an awesome view!! The summit itself is pretty cool, too. We found this one on our way back from Milford Sound. Bunter Hund says thanks from Berlin.

I found this one on our two-month NZ trip.
After the find we continued to Jacks Bay where we parked the car and walked to the blowhole. On the way, my wife lost the car keys and our baby a red sock. Fortunately, the nice Irish couple walking behind us collected everything and handed it back to us. What a nice place to live. I guess that is why someone was moving his house here today.

We found this one on our two-month NZ trip.
After exciting encounters with penguins and sea lions down at the beach we had carried our baby son back up the dunes. On the way back to the car I quickly put down my signature. As the sun was already setting we made dinner and spent the night in the van at the car park. This was a very cool part of our trip. Sad to be back in Berlin now.

We found this one on our two-month NZ trip. After spending the night at the camp ground we were curious to see the caves promised by the sign. So the baby was strapped to my wifes back and off we went. On the way in, the very bad GPS signal made me search at the completely wrong spot. Continuing down the track we didnt pass by anything that would meet my definition of a cave. Eventually, we found ourselves climbing up to the top of the cliffs. After enjoying some fantastic views the track looped back to the cache site. And this time, my wife had the right intuition. The inside of the box could do with a little dry up. At first glance, I was put off by the dead rabbit laying right next to the box. Probably poisoned. That wouldnt keep me off leaving my signature and taking the TB that wants to go back to Germany. After putting back the cache, we saw all the wildlife promised in the listing. Bunter Hund says thanks from Berlin.

I found this one on our two-month NZ trip. And judging from the previous logs I am not the first visitor from overseas to find this one. Concerning terrain, this was still alright to look for while carrying our baby son on the back. We had a great day walking up Mt John and back along the lake shore. We had started our two-month trip around NZ in Christchurch. On our first day we didnt make it very far and spent the first night by the side of one of these gravel roads near by. The fully lit plant makes for an impressive sight at night. Bunter Hund says hi from Berlin.
took TB.

After the thorough study of the previous logs it didn't take too long until I found this one. The log is pretty soggy. This can be prevented by moving the cache to a very similar hide that is about as far from the given coordinates as its current place. Even the clue could stay as it is. Just a suggestion, though.

Soon was clear where this one had to be. I just couldn't see any kind of container. Eventually, I could still do a successful grab. Thx.

I just wonder why the leafs of this tree are so small.

After checking-in my luggage I walked across the bridge to look for this cache. On the why I had to scale a few fences. I found the easy way when I was walking back.

That's an awesome tree!

It took three attempts and the encouraging aid of Nordlicht to eventually find this one. Thx!

This cache was the only one that I would get close to during my trip to Sydney and that is large enough to leave most of the TBs and coins that I had brought from Berlin, Germany. So I HAD to find it. These rocks provide a thousand potential hiding places Sad So I was happy when I eventually found a spot that was matching the hint Smile And soon it was clear to me where the cache had to be. I was just about to go back to the car and get the abseiling gear when I had another idea. That worked out well, which was fortunate because I don't have a car and no abseiling gear either CoolBig Grin

IN: 6 TBs, 3 Geocoins
(One of those coins is kind of volatile, so it will virtually disappear soon whilst actually remaining inside the cache.)
OUT: compass, surprise-egg

Great Cache. Thx!

I didn't catch the train but instead walked to get here. For the first 10 minutes my most valuable found was a comb that was soon followed by a cache [^]
As yet, this is the best maintained cache that I found in Sydney. There some badly neglected ones out there.
Thx.

Here, true stealth was required. I'm not sure though, whether the darkness at 10 PM actually made it easier to find the cache. Found it anyway. Thanx.

When looking for caches in cities I usually rely on GoogleMaps. Though, it looks like GoogleMaps in Sydney is not as accurate as what I'm used to from Berlin, Germany. For instance, this one I found about 20 meters away from where Google had lead me. But thanks to the description and the hint that wasn't too big a deal.

As stated in a previous log, the pieces of paper are all full. However, I don't think any maintenance can be expected as this cache is the only contribution that the owner has ever made to geocaching during his 3 day career.

Fortunately, I could see this one from above which allowed an unobtrusive grasp. The log was in a bad condition. I did some basic fixing. But I think it should be replaced. I left two TBs.
cheers

The smaller muggle density as compared with the rest of the Darling Harbour area was a welcome change. According to Google Maps, the coordinates are about 15 m off.

I found this one quickly a couple of metres off the coordinates at about 10 pm. The Logbook was a little wet probably due to the heavy storm earlier that day.

I took some time to scan the scene for potential hiding places. There was basically just one. A closer investigation produced a cockroach and a cache. I opted for the cache Wink

My first cache outside of Europe!

All logbooks are full. Maybe the pen could be replaced by a fresh logbook Wink
