Logs for Butterfly_lady

Called in today after seeing the DNF logs.
Found the cache exactly where it should be. There is a rather large fallen branch nearby, but it is not on the cache, it just makes the approach access available from one direction only.
This cache has been hidden for 9 years, in a very busy park, and is a reasonably large box – the hide has never gone missing – one of our lowest maintenance geocaches!

Called in for a quick maintenance check - all secure and hidden as it should be.
We were driving past another Jeremy artwork, and decided we should log our call. This one took a bit longer, as we made an assumption of similarity with others that did not work out.
After some thinking it was found adn logged.

We were driving past and had time for a quick stop and record our viewing of yet another Jeremy art work.
The log was full, and unfortunately we didnt have a spare log this time, so we signed sideways.

Called in for a check today, and the final was missing again. Replacrd, and hidden behind some rocks. Please please hide it well.
Checked the hide today and it was gone again.
Replaced with a non-themed standard bison tube, hooked on the bottom wire by a post. Please hook it well, the cows like to chew things here!
Listing and hint updated.

A fairly easy find - was able to see the container from close-by, then had to wait for a gap in the stream of muggles... a quick reach while tying shoelaces gained the prize.
Returning it took a repeat performance.
No sign of the listed TB - could the cache owner mark it as missing please?

No chance to search today - a cruise ship in and the wharf was all locked up securely.
We really enjoyed this earthcache, both the walk in a lovely garden, and seeing how high the floods do come in this place.
Researching the additional detail was fun also.
Logged with cache owner's permission.

We did this cache on a reasonably early Saturday morning's stroll, when the streets where mostly empty.
Unfortunately there was a family of dog walkers chatting with some locals, straight across the road, and even though we could see the cache, we wanted to avoid the grab with too many eyes upon us. After walking around the block in the hope they would move on, we eventually gave up and did lots of muscle stretches against the post, with a quick grab in the middle, retuning a few minutes later for more stretches after logging, to return the cache.
The watchers were pretty bored by this time and ignored us.
The log is pretty munched up, so it is probably time the cache owner checked it out.

This was an interesting area to explore - our GPS map did not show roads here, and even the google aerial view shows a waste-land. In is always interesting to see areas where everything is new and still growing.
The cache was easily found, after a quick read of some recent logs and the hint.

While attending a 3 day meeting in an adjacent building, I had a couple of unsuccessful attempts at this one - thwarted by multiple close muggles.
This evening we decided to have dinner nearby and view the light show - well worth the diversion, and after some thinking and reviewing previous logs we found the hide.
The waypoint was pretty close for us, so if you have a good GPS it is probably worthwhile trusting it.
Thanks for bringing is to this fantastically well restored piece of industrial history, and providing such a good detailed write-up of the story..

Found the rather brightly coloured, un-camoflaged tin, signed the log and returned all to where we found it.
A search we made a bit too hard by over-thinking - the waypoint was good and should have taken us there quicker.

Did the calculations - some of the questions did not directly produce single digit numbers, so adapted a bit - but ended up in an exposed area clearly not where the cache was hidden.
Was our last day in the Sunshine Coast, so no chance to return and try again.

A very nice island in a surprisingly peaceful and large park.
The cache was a bit exposed, so we covered it with leaves and sticks a bit.
The TB listed is not there - could the cache owner mark it as missing please.

Found in an evening stroll. It was great to find something that was not a micro - getting rare these days!
The TB listed is not in the cache, maybe the cache owner could log it as missing.

A little lateral thinking brought us to the cache, and an easy logging. We did not spy the table mentioned in the cache notes though, so write it up nearby and strolled past again.
We thought an early-ish search on a Saturday morning would be a good idea - wrong! A very popular walk it seems.
The technique adopted of seek from a distance, swoop on what looked out of place, grab it, walk off and examine - worked. Then log the find, stroll back to GZ, drop the object near, and shuffle it back to the correct location during short gaps in the traffic.
A good hide suiting the location well.

We usually ignore puzzles when on holiday, but this one stood out - firstly with a reference to Kiwi, then recognising the cache hiders... Hi Ross and Marion, great to see fellow New Zealander's names on the GPS while here.
The puzzle was easily settled, and the final in hand, although seemed a bit further away from the waypoint than calculated.
A nice quiet spot within 300metres of our motel.

A nice area, and pretty easy find - although some muggles relaxing on the grass nearby collecting some sun were a bit of a problem. Entered stealth mode, and was glad to be able to have the tube in hand quickly as we passed, and return it just as quickly on a second walk-by.

A fascinating spot, and great to see the remnants of the ship showing on the beach.
The log was a little damp, but still able to be signed.
No sign of the listed TB though.

Our last cache of the day on our visit from New Zealand, another very nice beach!
A great hide, at an interesting walkway - and the biggest cache we have seen so far on our Oz holiday from New Zealand.
We took the opportunity to drop off our two racing zebra TBs, for another race back to home.

On arrival we found a worker busy in the electrical cabinet next to the cache, but he headed off for a break, so we closed in rapidly.
The log was folded tight, and very difficult to extract from the tin, but we got there, logged the find, and quickly returned the hide to where it came from, just before the worker appeared again.

There is certainly no 200ml cache at the base of the tree the waypoint points to - from the number of DNFs, we wonder if the special thing about this cache ia an inaccurate waypoint?
We called in today, around 32 years after our last visit from New Zealand to this tourist stop... we had noted the publicity of the hard times here, but were still disappointed with the run-down facility.
The caching was pretty amusing though - trotted across the footbridge, and searched around the waypoint without success - rather close to lots of fast moving traffic, not our favourite searching scene. Then, a squealing of brakes, a toot, a bus stops quickly down the road a bit - obviously expecting us to run after it.... with a cheery wave to the driver we headed back to the bridge, and gave up on the search.
The cache is certainly not at the signpost the waypoint takes finders too, so we do wonder where it is.... maybe in another 30 years or so we will be back to look again?

An interesting location, with lots of detail we had not known. A quick grab got us the cache, then another quick pass to return it after logging, between the passing muggles.
A very busy spot for muggle walkers, some with dogs, many with bikes.
Managed to get in and out and log the cache without being spotted.
No sign of the listed TB today though.

Found it this morning, and saw the log too full to add our names, so headed back to the motel, trimmed some paper off the bottom of our travel itinerary, and returned this afternoon with a replacement log.
Now ready for lots more entries.

Disabling until I can check it out.
It was not in a hole in the wall... But at foot level.
Will replace with a container soon

The last log is a surprise. Would the next finder please report what they found, if is a loose piece of paper, it is not the cache. Please look around for the real container.
Thanks

Dropped in today for a good coffee, and a nice walk through the gardens, and to drop off Peter the Penguin, , to enjoy some time with the ducks after a little too long in our swag bag.

Replaced the tube again today. Will have to rethink this one if it goes missing quickly again.

After a few reports of the final waypoint being a few metres off, we called past today, and found the population of Butterfly's Friends has changed! While the number is the same (it last increased in 2009), it seems some have flown away (escaping from the vandals), and when replaced, had (unlike the leopard), managed to change their spots!
The count was carried out again, and a new formula entered into the page. If your maths are right you should end up right on the spot again.

Found this one on a catch up morning, trying to clear out some of the local area caches.
Good camo but not really waterproof hide, so many entries in the log are very smeary.

What a fantastic place - Radionut works nearby, and has noted this hide close to his occasional lunchtime walk route - but did not know where the entry point would be..
Thanks for the hide, and the parking waypoints to show us the way in.
This is a sanctuary in the city, the walk was surrounded by continuous Tui songs.
The hide was something special too - an enjoyable experience all around.

Radionut enjoys Vegemite, but the butterfly only participates in Marmite sampling...
We have briefly looked for this before, but did not put much effort in. Today an approach from a different direction made it much easier.
good waypoint helped too.
Thanks for the hide.

Smaller than first expected, but obvious when looking in the right place. A little trouble getting the log out, but done without any observers - needed some stealth on a Saturday morning, with the Soccer going on nearby.
Searched the wrong object for far too long, dodging in and out as muggles passed, digging through all sorts of rubbish... then stood back and noticed another location better matching the hint.
Easy to find after that..
Another sports park we had not looked into

Noting the recent DNF log, we called in today with replacement hide prepared, but found the cache, exactly where it should be.
No problems here, all good for the next search.

Our family calls this Gillie Dog park, after our spaniel who always loved to be brought here to run, and swim in the river. Gillie passed on many years ago, but we remember her enjoyment here every time we visit.
Thanks for bringing us back, it is great to have a few caches in this nice park.
A good sized container too - the largest found on our morning's caching.

Called in today and replaced the box - for some reason the existing one was letting the water in.
Now down to a 200ml systema, which may be easier to hide in this busy spot.

Certainly finding nanos is pretty boring - this one an exception - well done!
Extracting and inserting the log was typically tricky as with any nano - but possible.
And.. that hidden underground Jeremy is really worth the look.

What a magical spot - a hidden path through a quiet reserve...
Found the hide where expected, thanks for bringing us here.

We have had a couple of half-hearted attempts at this, while attending the farmers market, but that is pretty much impossible with the crowds.
Passing by on a cache hunting morning meant this was the day to get serious... many muggles walking through the parking area did make it tricky, but the hint and good waypoint together made it possible.

Another similar hide, this one is special as the Tui picture is spectacular.
