This caboose is actually a remote controlled caboose! One of their employees told us that Montana Rail Link is the only RR that uses remote controlled cabooses. The first time we saw one of these in action, the caboose was traveling along all by itself. It was really quite a suprise, so we stopped one of the railroad workers who explained its' use.

The lesser known alphabet rock in Missoula, MT is just as visible as the "M" above the University of Montana. This "L" , located on Mount Jumbo, represents Loyola Sacred Heart Catholic High School. The rocks used to be moved around a lot to form different letters and shapes on the hillside until 1999 when high school seniors went up and made the "L" permanent.
