Logs for Gyrosweeper

26-Nov-24
We were having an impromptu Sunday picnic here when I opened the app and saw a traditional, an adventure lab and this virtual all begging to be bagged. Reperio was in our picnic party and it was he who introduced me to the craft. Reperio junior is not yet up to geocaching so it was just the two of us who tackled the traditional and this one. We investigated the lab, but time constraints and consideration for our ladies and Reperio junior caused us to stop after stage 1. I am old enough to remember the sad cages that used to be here as a primitive zoo. The macaque monkeys are a much more acceptable attraction!

Impromptu Sunday afternoon picnic has us here in the park that I am quite familar with. I had anticipated that balance beam act, but Reperio, my partner in crime, located an alternate access to avoid the possibility of dunkings. The past logs helped more than the hint (which made sense once the find was made). TFTC

04-Oct-24
I did a maintenance run this afternoon and replaced the TOTT. All now works as intended.

16-Sep-24
I am camped at Bakers Point with my CotE, so I took the cache-mobile to the car park at the Visitor Centre in the late afternoon. I nabbed the cache at the bird hide before setting off for this one. These old legs managed the walk and the clinb OK and the find was made in time for me to walk back as the sun set. It rought back memories as this was the last walk I did with my late father. Thanks for bringing me back here.

15-Sep-24
A well placed cache where the find did not interfere or impose on the dedicated bird watchers in residence on my arrival. Thanks for the find as well as the walk.

02-Aug-24
Following two DNF's reported while I was interstate visiting family, I called by to check on hootie today. He had indeed flown the nest (been muggled) so I have replaced him and he is now back in play. Thank you to amandapotts86 and SaucyJack1972 for posting the DNF's!

12-Jun-24
I made like a troll, I made like a spider. I searched diligently around where the GPS said to search. I am a long way from home with nowhere to change, so was very wary of the muddy bank offering to slip me gently or less ceremoniously into the creek. Then I picked up a landscape clue, moved my search to the other side and quickly had CIH. Log signed and all restored as found. Thanks for maintaining this one which I recall walking over some years ago on an evening walk with my muggle "Chancellor of the Exchecquer".

What a bonus! I took myself to GZ over the river and through the park, arrived at GZ, began my search and the cache came to hand from the first place I looked. My annual trip to Parramatta happens at this time of year so the garden is not at its best. I would like to see it in full bloom! Thanks for bringing me here and for the hide.

10-Jun-24
No sign of it where the GPS said was GZ. Past logs gave me the good oil and once I got to the actual GZ all was immediately obvious (to a geocacher), but.... I travelled to this "North Island" from the southernmost state, lodged my bags at the hotel and promptly left without grabbing a pen. The Dollar Shop across the road provided the necessary implement, log signed, cache replaced as found and on to the next one! Thanks for the hide!

Not for me today. I searched, accessed the hint and past logs. I even did the lay on the ground trick to see if I could nab this one. Never mind, I enjoyed the walk and the attempt.

10-May-24
Out on a maintenance run to try and restore a lapsed cache here. Of course, with this new hide in place, we were not going to pass by without making the find. There was a bit more bark than we expected but once we recognised the container we were able to avoid being bitten! Smile

01-Apr-24
After a few days camping in the FAR North West, we stopped here on our liesurely journey home. Nice spot, thanks for bringing me here.

After enjoying the best weather this area has to offer, I came up here to be blown away by the wind! I did manage the find and the picture through the frame but these old legs certainly told me that the walk up from the town centre was something they objected to! Thanks for bringing me here also.

27-Feb-24
I should have noted the terrain rating and read the cache description before coming here! The climb might be easy/possible for someone carrying a few less years than my 72! And I have already experienced one of those sudden stops at the bottom that causes bodies to be broken, so I will claim discretion as MY better part of valour! Thanks for bringing me here just the same.

I must be out of practice or losing my touch. I needed the hint and a past log to find this one! As for my hero, he was also my Dad, not of Heathmont, but of Launceston, Tasmania. Having lost his father when he was 7 years old, so not having a role model, he had to invent himself as a father. He did a mighty fine job of it and it was a privilege to become a mate of his in the latter stages of his life.

26-Feb-24
Now, if I was hiding something here, where would I hide it? Now that is exactly where I would put it. Without that thought process, I could have looked for a long time for this well como'd hide. An evening walk, well seasoned with a satisfying find. Thank you for enticing me here and for the find.

13-Nov-23
I left my CotE in the rouen centre before I came to this one. Coords had me at a natural feature with no place to hide a "small" cache. A pause for a look around soon had the cache on sight, but I had to wait for a couple of council employee muggles to move on before I could retrieve, sign and return it to its spot.

Completed the Adventure Lab, recorded the clue numbers, did the maths (even this old, numerically challenged bloke managed that ) and completed the bonus. All signed and returned as found. Thanks Budgietas.

28-Oct-23
Apologies to the last few logs that reported a DNF on this one. Today was the first opportunity that I have had to come and check/maintain this cache. It was indeed missing and I have replaced it in the same spot that the late Robtas placed the original.

Thanks for the message AJ AND HOL. The much weathered and much loved cache has been replaced with a construction mimicking the original that was due to Choppersrule and his creativity.

03-Aug-23
Contents in good condition but the outer hinged lid needs to be re-attached. This visitor from Tassie enjoyed the walk while his CotE wandered the town.

What is an adventure without adventure!? I can follow the road from my last our straight line it (a long as I can cross that creek). Step down into the creek bed (clearly an animal highway from the tracks) and relieved to find the sandy bottom supports me. Now, to find a climable exit... That might just prove to be more difficult... Persistence pays off, and I probably didn't save tinge or effort, but boy, I sure had fun!! Log signed and returned. Log is full and needs replacing. TFTC and the adventure!

Exploring new country on a family visit from our home state Tassie. What a discovery this day out has been. The only regret is that the motorcycle is still naccçv in Tassie and not on these twisty roads! Quick find, but the contents are soggy and tired. Could do with some TLC. Thanks for the hide just the same.

02-Aug-23
That was a great walk around your city with a good mate. Thanks for the adventure, the education and the excuse to spend time with a friend.

Back here with a mate. An easier find second time around! My old brain has not completely lost its ability to remember stuff! To his credit dangel1214 found it with almost no help from me...

On an expedition from the southernmost state with my QLD mate, and he gets the credit for finding this one. TFTC

25-Jun-23
I visited yesterday and restored the cache to its intended function. Tested and all good for the next find (as long as no muggles interfere again!)

22-Jun-23
Thanks for the log bluewrentit, I will do a maintenance run in the next couple of days because you were looking in the right place for the required tool. Sorry you missed out on the chance to log a find for this one.

This type of hide has often frustrated me, but on my wanderings thus morning the cache came to hand without undue stress and to much searching. Log signed and restored. TFTC

No lizards observed this morning! Having completed my commitments in Church Street yesterday and with most of the day available before my flights to one of the southern states, I had time to walk here (dragging my luggage ). Thank you for bringing me to this part of the park. In spite of the luggage, I enjoyed the walk and the find. Log signed, cache restored to its location and camo replaced as found.

27-Apr-23
Back in play.

Hootie has been restored and is back in play.

26-Apr-23
I checked in on hootie today and it does appear that he has flown off. I will replace him tomorrow.

27-Feb-23
I have pulled this one out of service to see if I can give it a rebuild. It is getting pretty tired, but with this number of favourite points I will try to keep it in play.

05-Feb-23
Camped nearby with friends, this one was a short stroll and quick find to add a smiley to the map here. Thanks for another one Angus!

26-Oct-22
Here to meet colleagues as they take a break from their conference at the nearby facility. I dropped my CotE at her appointment and had an hour to spare on arrival. What to do? You can already determine the simple answer! Thanks for the encouragement to get out in the strong, cool wind for some exercise Angus, but four legged company would have been welcome too!

I walked here from the conference venue that is in this locality as I had time to fill before meeting with colleagues. My first search was very limited as I had only a few minutes st GZ before it was time to retrace my steps to avoid being late. I could not leave this one as a blue frown and returned after my meeting (by geo-vehicle this time as I figured I had earned the ride having walked here for the first visit). A thorough inspection of the structure mentioned in the hint made it clear that there was only one place a "small" hide could be. The log paper left by the last finder is also too wet to sign. I added the stub from a receipt with my signature on it as that was the only paper I had with me. I will post a "Needs Maintenance".

Made like a troll when the caching brain kicked in. Did the balance beam thing, hoped the rocks, managed to avoid getting these aging feet (unlike my youthful adventures) but struggled to make the find. Accessed the hint and revised my school geometry. After a decent search, this combined approach had me looking at the "right" angle. Glad to make this find and thank you for the effort invested to provide this hide for us.

11-Oct-22
Took a new friend to introduce him to the craft.

At this site for rest and restoration. Adding a smiley to the map here will remind me of the worth in these few days.

29-Jul-22
Out on the regular date with my CotE, we stopped here to honour those men on the land who are struggling (and to log this cache). Well camouflaged, so it took a few minutes for me to locate this one, but log is signed and restored. As noted, log is a little damp.

22-Jul-22
Out for a morning hunt with a mate from the "North Island". His second for the day, my first in the chilly morning air.

Enjoying the walk with my mate as we notch up the second in this trail.

Credit to my mate for lobbing onto this one before me! Number three turned to a smiley, on to number 4...

This one had us searching a bit harder. We'll done AddisonPascal.

Another one turned to a smiley on this glorious winter morning with good company!

Another credit to my mate! Good find Dangel1214.

By the time we got to this one we were getting short of time. I expected it to be challenging, but we have it a shot anyway. Not surprised that the cache was not in hand before time ran out. My "North Island" mate was insisting on coffee before he heads back north! I am intrigued and will be back...

16-Jul-22
Given the last log and the previous permission from the CO to maintain this one on his behalf, I made a visit with the geo-hound this afternoon. The puzzle is restored to its proper operation and broken equipment replaced. The timing was dictated by other responsibilities in this area and maintenance completed in spite of the gathering darkness, cold rain and the geo-hound that kept insisting I throw a stick for her to fetch! Smile

Visited today to replace log. Thanks AddisonPascal for the Needs Maintenance log. Log is "Rite in the Rain" waterproof type, that sometimes does not like a pen, so I added a pencil stub to the cache. The last one did not last long, so we will see how this goes.
