Logs for Lostcourse

Out and about running a couple of errands this afternoon, on this fine spring day. This hide was, more or less, between two errands so I made the effort to detour slightly and stop and collect the smilie here. The obvious ground zero was clear as day as I drove up and secured a convenient park nice and close to ground zero. Once at ground zero the cache was quickly at hand and the formalities completed. Cheers for the cache placement!

Out and about to run a couple of errands this afternoon. This was nearby to my travels so I made it my first stop. I parked up on Devonshire Road and took the alley way into the reserve. I soon spotted the oresct ground zero, but missed the container on the first pass. No where else seemed particularly likely, so, the container was found not.much later, on the second pass. On finding the first dummy I quickly got the correct principle on what might be at play here; though I had it 180 degrees the wrong way around in my head. A few more dummy caches later and I was soon signing the log, after correcting my earlier assumption. I just initialed the log sheet LC to.save space. Favourite point applied! Cheers for the cache placement!

The younger future finder and I were on this side of the bridge to run an errand. As we were nearby we took the opportunity to swing by and collect this recently placed cache. We managed to park up only thirty metres from ground zero. A quick find once we were at ground zero. Cheers for the cache placement!

As I was in the office, for work, this Friday, it was an easy decision to hang about a bit longer and attend this event. It is, after all, just a six minute walk from my office to the published coordinates. Also, my second event cache in Albert Park this week. Anyway, I made the short walk from my office over to the fountain in the park. Fences for an upcoming celebration, in the park, have been erected. I was glad to find an unhindered route to ground zero. I arrived a little early, but was soon joined by our hosts, and then a couple of other attendees. It was nice to meet everyone and talk about geocachibg. As the only Aucklander at the event, let me wish everyone safe travels! Cheers for organizing this event!

This event is a six minute walk from work, so I was, most likely, able to make either date for this event. I wandered up to Albert Park, from work, and arrived right on time for the event. I found the event organizer already there. Nice to meet you and have a good chat. We popped over and found a nearby traditional before wandering back to the fountain and meeting up with a late comer to the event. Cheers for organizing this event and all the best for your travels!

I had just started getting the dinner on, having come in from a day of doing gardening, when I noted this recent cache publication. I continued the dinner preparation, but once it was in the oven I headed out the door. Five minutes later I was at ground zero. Did I mention this one is just around the corner from Lostcourse HQ? Anyway, once at ground zero I, I initially, overshot the mark. Back tracking I spotted a likely ground zero and came up with the goods. Nice came job on this one; favourite point t applied. The blank log sheet confirmed the first to find (FTF). I was door-to-door and back home in twelve minutes. Cheers for the cache placement!

Stoped by to do maintenence on this one. Unfortunately, 1) the cache hidey spot is now a mud pit; I had to dig the cache out of it, and, 2) many markers are missing, as the environment is unkind to them here. WIth infrequent visits now, relative to maintenence requirements, I am reluctantly archiving. Final has been removed. It may be recycled in the future. Cheers to everyone who visited!

After attending a midday event in the Viaduct I decided to make the most of my extra day off, after Labour Day, and find some more hides. I n the end I settled on a bush walk around Kepa Reserve. I was able to cross over to this ground zero, and back again, as I found a couple of spots where the creek us crossable; saved me going the long way around. Took me a few minutes to spot this one, where themenzies had left it. As previous logs have noted the log is saturated and unable to be signed. Needs a bit of TLC from the ca he owner I would politely suggest. Cheers for the cache placement!

I became aware of this puzzle cache when the cache owner asked if I had had a look at it yet, a few short days after publication, while we were chatting about something else. We'll, obviously not. But I put it on my to do list.a day or two later a did have that look. Spent a bit of time researching the skillset required and a bit longer again examining how the puzzle had been designed. With this ground work in place the puzzle was an easy solve on the first attempt. After catching up witht he cache owner at event in the Viaduct, I decided to take further advantage of my day off work (for an extended long weekend) and complete the formalities on this one. No problem getting a park here. I got to searching and after try a few spots came up trumps. Cheers for the puzzle cache placement!

After attending a midday event in the Viaduct I decided to make the most of my extra day off, after Labour Day, and find some more hides. I n the end I settled on a bush walk around Kepa Reserve. I parked up on Dudley Road, crossed Kepa Raod and entered the reserve. A short walk, while I ate my lunch, soon bought me to ground zero. The first place I tried was no good but the second was a winner. I think both the difficulty (D1) and terrain (T1.5) are on the low side for this spot. Cheers for the cache placement!

I took today off for an extended long weekend. So, this was a nice little event to attend. Nice to meet you and to catch up with Gorby. I am glad the weather held off for the duration of the event. Cheers for organizing this event!

After attending a midday event in the Viaduct I decided to make the most of my extra day off, after Labour Day, and find some more hides. I n the end I settled on a bush walk around Kepa Reserve. After finding "trolls treasure" I climbed my way up to the green shed. Not particularly muddy today. Once at ground zero the spoiler photo meant I new exactly when I had found the correct ground zero. All in good order here. Cheers for the cache placement!

After attending a midday event in the Viaduct I decided to make the most of my extra day off, after Labour Day, and find some more hides. In the end I settled on a bush walk around Kepa Reserve. With that completed it was time to head for Lostcourse HQ. But not before I make one last stop here. I parked up at the suggest spot and made the short walk over towards ground zero. Once there I walked around in circles for a bit, trying several potential ground zeros before getting the correct one. Then the real effort started. But I was lucky and had the log signed on the fourth go. I have seen a few home made versions of this concept before, bit not one quite like this. Cheers for the cache placement!

After attending a midday event in the Viaduct I decided to make the most of my extra day off, after Labour Day, and find some more hides. I n the end I settled on a bush walk around Kepa Reserve. After making the find at "green shed" I continued along the trail to this ground zero. My.phone thought I should be on the higher trail, but the cache owner's recent log but me right. Still took a little searching, but I got there much quicker than I would have otherwise. If I recall correctly the log sheet was rather wet. But, as it is a waterproof log sheet, no need to worry at this stage. Now, I wonder if I could find an alternative route out of here...a shortcut of some sort...Cheers for the cache placement and the exercise this afternoon!

28-Oct-24
I am taking advantage of Labour Day to find some local caches on the shore this afternoon. While there are showers about, they stayed away mostly. I parked up at the suggested parking area and made ny way into the reserve. I followed the trails and my nose and soon arrived at ground zero, or at least where my phone was pointing. No dice around here. Reading the logs helped. It took two passes but I soon uncovered the goods. Cheers for the cache placement!

Out and about this Labour Day for a spot of cache detection on the Shore. The weather was mostly good. Anyway, I parked up at the bottom of the pedestrian alley way and made the short climb up to ground zero. Good coordinates meant I found this one in the very first spot I checked. Cheers for the cache placement!

Out and about for a spot of cache detection on the Shore this afternoon. Making the most of the public holiday today. The weather was pretty good except for a passing shower at the previous stop. Anyway, this was my last stop of the trip. I parked up and got to searching. Searched most of ground zero before coming up with the goods in the lady spot I checked; funny that. Right, time to head to Lostcourse HQ. Cheers for the cache placement!

I am taking advantage of Labour Day to find some local caches on the shore this afternoon. While there are showers about, they stayed away mostly. After finding a cache on the other side of Unsworth Reserve, rather than driving around, I decided to enjoy a walk in the bush and traveled the 500m via foot, through the reserve. Unlike the earlier bus stop hide I was onto this one straight away. Cheers for the cache placement!

I am taking advantage of Labour Day to find some local caches on the shore this afternoon. While there are showers about, they stayed away mostly. I parked up at the end of the street and entered this micro park. I made my way through the bush and down the slope towards ground zero. Cache was in a logical spot, for sure. Found in the second spot I checked. Cheers for the cache placement!

I am taking advantage of Labour Day to find some local caches on the shore this afternoon. While there are showers about, they stayed away mostly. I parked up on Caribbean Drive and made the short walk along the track to reach ground zero. I tried a few spots, including the correct one, bit missed the hide on the first pass. After extending the search area and then researching previous spots I found the well camoed hide on the second pass of ground zero. Difficulty 1.5 may be a tad bit low on this one. Well done on 2600 hides! Cheers for the cache placement!

I am spending this Labour Day afternoon caching on the Shore. Pretty good weather for most of the time out. I parked up and entered this patch of bush. The coordinates were spot on despite the tree cover. I didn't get the cache on the first pass, however. Tried a few spots before getting the cache on the second pass. Lucky it didn't take me longer to find this one! Anyway, cheers for the cache placement!

I popped out this afternoon for a spot of cache detection on the Shore. This was my first stop. I parked up and made the short walk down the grass slope to access ground zero. Ground zero was obvious based on the cache name. Once at ground zero the cache was found and the formalities completed in short order. I had a short walk around the park before moving on. Lots of little fairy houses have been dotted around here. Cheers for the cache placement!

I am taking advantage of Labour Day to find some local caches on the shore this afternoon. While there are showers about, they stayed away mostly. I parked up near the obvious ground zero, crossed the road and got to searching. I read the cache page so should have made a quick find here. Alas, I misinterpreted the cache page twice and tried several incorrect spots before getting the correct one. Cheers for the cache placement!

I am taking advantage of Labour Day to find some local caches on the shore this afternoon. While there are showers about, they stayed away mostly. But not here. Here I got caught in a shower. Still, ground zero is relatively sheltered, so it didn't stop me searching. It didn't take long to track this one down. Cheers for the cache placement!

Out and about for a spot of geocaching on Labour Day this afternoon around the North Shore. The weather mostly played balled. I spotted this one as I drove towards ground zero. I parked up and made the short walk across the road and completed the formalities. Nice to make a super quick find. Cheers for the cache placement!

I have been rather busy lately and haven't managed to go out caching in a few weeks. Running a few errands around midday, in this general area, today, so I decided to collect a couple of hides first. This was my second and last caching stop. I parked up on a side street, crossed the main road and entered the park. Took a little while to track this one down but I soon spotted something out of place. Closer inspection revealed a dummy cache and moments later another. Got my thinking cap on and tried a few things. I thing it was the fourth idea that actually produced the logsheet. Nice field puzzle; favourite point applied. Cheers for the cache placement!

I have been rather busy lately and haven't managed to go out caching in a few weeks. Running a few errands around midday, in this general area, today, so I decided to collect a couple of hides first. This was my first stop. I parked up and made the short walk back to ground zero. Took me a while to get in the right spot once near ground zero as the phone kept sending me in the wrong direction. Once in the right area it was a quick find. Cheers for the cache placement!

29-Sep-24
I decided that this event (and one this evening in the city) were the perfect excuse to get out of the house and enjoy some cache detection this afternoon. It was nice to catch up with some familiar faces and meet some new people. Of course, there was the simple matter of spending an hour picking up rubbish; an impressive haul in the end. Cheers for organizing this CITO event!

After attending a CITO event down in Papakura I spent a few hours caching out that way, before heading into the city to attend this unique event. I parked up and made the short walk down to ground zero. A well attended event in an unusual setting; it ended up being a lot of fun. Ark also gave us a brief presentation on "A Day in the Life of an AT Bus Driver"; interesting stuff. I hope you got to sleep in on Monday morning. Safe to say this has to be the event with the hardest end time I have attended. Thanks for organising this event tramyard!

I was attending the nearby CITO event, so made sure to collect this one along the way. We collected rubbish along the way and arrived at ground zero (with Lumin) to find that the Menzies and NZT had the find well under control. Our names were soon also added to the logsheet. Thanks for performing some cache maintenance before the event. Also, cheers for the cache placement!

I had attended a nearby CITO event in Papakura earlier in the afternoon. As such, I took the opportunity to find the cache owner's hides around Red Hill. I parked up near ground zero and got to searching. It took a few laps of ground zero, without success, searching the wrong spots before I had a brainwave. Another couple of laps later, I had the goods in hand. Cheers for the cache placement!

I had attended a nearby CITO event in Papakura earlier in the afternoon. As such, I took the opportunity to find the cache owner's hides around Red Hill. While I had success with the previous three it was not the case here. I gave the footbridge a very careful examination, but to no avail. I suspect this one may be missing again; The cache owner may wish to check on it.

I had attended a nearby CITO event in Papakura earlier in the afternoon. As such, I took the opportunity to find the cache owner's hides around Red Hill. This was my second stop. I parked up on the other side of the road from ground zero. I crossed over and made the short climb up to ground zero. I had gloves in anticipation of the blackberry plants. However, they were not that bad at this time of the year. Cache was actually found super quick, in the very first spot I checked. Nice when that happens. Cheers for the cache placement!

I had attended a nearby CITO event in Papakura earlier in the afternoon. As such, I took the opportunity to find the cache owner's hides around Red Hill. This was my first stop. I parked up near the trailhead and made the short walk along to ground zero. The phone GPSr lead me on a merry dance around the trees before it settled down. I searched several potential spots, more than once, before I tried something different and there it was. Excellent use of camo here. I identified a potential issue with the hide; I have messaged the cache owner about this. Cheers for the cache placement!

TheMenzies log has pretty much covered the details on this find. I will add, I really should have turned my GPSr on for this one as the phones lead us badly astray. For some reason I thought this would be a quick find after the CITO around the corner. I don't know why, I thought that. Clearly, I did t check the difficulty rating until after I starred the search. A big thank you to the cache owner for helping us out; talk about five star service! A devilish hide for sure. Nicely constructed. Favourite point applied. Cheers for the cache placement!

19-Sep-24
After finishing up at the office this afternoon I decided to take advantage of the break in the rainy weather and head down to the waterfront to find the four newish hides down this way. This was my first stop. Coordinates were bang on here. However, a few muggles were sitting near ground zero, overlooking proceedings. As such, I soon retreated and gave the cache owner a quick call in the hopes of an extra hint so I could execute a super quick and stealthy find here. We'll, this plan worked a treat and I was soon signing the logsheet. On return, an old lady was feeding the birds not far from ground zero. With everyone's attention firmly on her, I was able to replace the hide with ease. Cheers for the cache placement!

After finishing up at the office this afternoon I decided to take advantage of the break in the rainy weather and head down to the waterfront to find the four newish hides down this way. This was my fourth and final stop. Cache was in the first spot I checked...except I missed it on the first pass. Tried several other spots before getting it on the second pass. However, their was no log inside it; I think it may have been whisked away by the strong gusts of wind today; but I am not sure. So, I replaced the logsheer with a scrap of paper. Should do a job for the time being. Cheers for the cache placement!

After finishing up at the office this afternoon I decided to take advantage of the break in the rainy weather and head down to the waterfront to find the four newish hides down this way. This was my second stop. This turned out tome my fastest find of the day. Nicely hidden. Cheers for the cache placement!

After finishing up at the office this afternoon I decided to take advantage of the break in the rainy weather and head down to the waterfront to find the four newish hides down this way. This was my third stop. The correct ground zero was obvious, but I hand to do a couple of circuits (muterring "who's left" as I went) before I came up with the goods. Not to difficult at all in the end, really. Cheers for the cache placement!

10-Sep-24
I was over on this side of the Bridge, this afternoon, running an errand with, and for, the elder future finder. With that out of the way, I decided to collect this cache as we made our way back to the motorway. I parked up at the end of the street and made the short walk over to ground zero. Using the information on the cache page I was ale to execute a super quick find; I didn't even use the GPSr on the phone. Team Lostcourse used to live just around the corner from here, some 15 odd years ago. Cheers for the cache placement!

23-Aug-24
Out and about on this sunny late morning to do the grocery shopping. However, I decided to make a short detour and find the cache owners relatively new hides. This was my second stop. I managed to nab the last park next to the park, before scampering up the slope to access ground zero. Coordinates were very good here, but I did miss the sneaky hide on the first pass. Got it on the second pass. Right, shopping time. Cheers for the cache placement!

Out and about on this sunny late morning to do the grocery shopping. However, I decided to make a short detour and find the cache owners relatively new hides. I parked up in the car park for the sports fields and crossed the busy Archers Road to access ground zero. Good coordinates and a clear hint meant I soon found what I was looking for. I was surprised with how busy the park was today. I went for a short stroll around this park before returning to the auto. Cheers for the cache placement!

11-Aug-24
Mr LC was asked by Mrs LC to head out and do the weekly shop this morning. So, here I am doing an early morning supermarket run. But, between supermarkets I took the opportunity to swing by ground zero and have a go at this hide. No one at the bridge club this early on a Sunday morning. But with plenty of street parking I actually parked on the road side of the side street. I made the short walk over to ground zero where I soon had my hands on the cache. Took me a lot longer to work out how to get into it though! I had the right idea, but my execution was a little off. Anyway, there is more grocery shopping to be done before I return to Lostcourse HQ. Cheers for the cache placement!

10-Aug-24
The younger future finder and I are heading back to Lostcourse HQ, but not before we collect just one more hide. I parked up in the car park in the park and made the short walk over to ground zero. This one had me going for several minutes. I think I was taking the hint a little too literally. Got there in the end. Right, home time. Cheers for the cache placement!

Out and about with the younger future finder, this morning, for a walk around Wenderholm. Of course, some cache collection would also be occurring. This was a nice easy find once we arrived at ground zero. Cheers for the cache placement!

After finding "white trail marker" the younger future finder and I headed around the track to access this ground zero. Ground zero was pretty obvious on approach. Once at ground zero the hide was soon spotted and the formalities completed. Thanks for the exercise. Cheers for the cache placement!

After returning to the auto, having completed Vin's Track, the younger future finder and I took a short break to have a snack and rehydrate. After that, I parked up in the main car park to start a mini walk out to the point. Some 600m later we arrived near ground zero. The hint was very helpful here and greatly aided a quick find. Cache is letting water in. Though the waterproof log sheet is doing it's job. It really is a lovely spot out at the point here. Cheers for the cache placement!

I was in the area with the younger future finder, having lunch after an earlier walk. As I had solved this one relatively recently I was keen to sign off on it. The solve was straight forward and I got agreement from the checker on the first go. I managed to park up pretty close to ground zero and get to searching. The hide was as I expected for a super quick find. Nice to complete the formalities on this puzzle cache. Cheers for the puzzle cache placement!

After finding 'dunes' the younger future finder and I continued our second walk, out to the point and down to this ground zero. Excellent coordinates and clear hint resulted in a nice quick find here. Well, that is all the caches in the park found for now. Time to go find some lunch. Cheers for the cache placement!
