Logs for Pappy'sPosse

Well, this is another day of our marathon caching trip in which we are planning to find caches in 61 counties that we do not have. Accomplishing this will give us cache finds in all 254 counties of the great state of Texas. This will qualify us for the final cache which will be done in the near future.
We found this cache, took nothing, left nothing but our footprints, signed the log, and replaced the container exactly as we found it. Thanks for the cache and the fun we had in finding it. Now on to the next one....
This was county find number 197 with 57 more counties to go........Pappy'sPsse

We had a wedding to attend in Plano, TX and figured this would be a good time to pick up some more new counties of North Central Texas while driving in that direction. Soooo, we picked a route that carried us through eight new counties on the way to Plano and a different route home that carried us through another eight new counties. As a result, we found 45 caches in 16 counties that we needed as we work toward finishing the Texas County Challenge. After completing this very successful caching trip (and attending the wedding of course) we now have 193 of the 254 counties in Texas. Only 61 more counties to go! I think that the panhandle counties will have to wait until spring. I don't want to venture up there and risk any ice and snow encounters.
These days are sure getting short and dark too early. Thanks to the good hint it was fairly easy to find. We found the cache, took nothing, left nothing, signed the log and of course replaced it where we found it.
We wanted but decided that we didn't really need the chocolate! Thanks for the cache and the thrill of the hunt........ Pappy'sPsse

It was still early morning when we found this one and too early for a burrito. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log, and replaced the cache where found. Thanks for the hide.
This cache was found while on a "Texas County Challenge” Caching Road Trip from 10/7 – 10/15/2011: This trip resulted in 9 days, covering 2,900 Miles, finding caches in 59 Counties, with a result of 199 Cache Finds. We actually traveled through 71 counties on the trip but had previously found caches in 12 of the counties. We saw hundreds of deer, 2 foxes, prairie chickens, and saw many dead skunks (smelled even more) along the side of the road. We also saw too many oil wells to count in Midland and Ector Counties, and also hundreds and hundreds of wind generators in West Texas. What a sight! We also had several encounters with the Border Patrol while caching through the counties bordering Mexico. Summary: A great trip with spectacular results. Only about 100 more counties to go!

This has to be one of the best sights in Venice. It wasn't too hard to find with directions from the conciere at our hotel and the GPSr which frequently lost signals between the buildings. Fortunately, there are enough open plazas that you can quickly recover the signals and keep on the right track. Unforturately, my wife did some major shopping for Murano Venetian Glass while we were in route. Boy... some of those streets and canals are really small. It was kinda fun...getting lost and then finding your way out of the maze. We attempted to find a way to go up, even ringing some doorbells, but were told that it was not possible. Photos attached for proof.

WOW.....What a location for a cache. The view was spectacular and amazing. This is my first cache in Italy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of muggles around of course, but we were very sly and found it without any problems, thanks to the hints. Pencil is gone, but I had a pen to sign the log. I can only imagine the crowds of muggles when this was an active arena. Thanks for the cache.

Couldn't find it so I called the owqner for a hint and my partner spied it while the phone was ringing. A great day of caching with Jigsaw Jim. TN LN SL. TFTC.

This Artesian Well is located just South of the city limits of Ponchatoula, LA and just off U.S. Hwy 51. It is one of many in this area and they are all approximately 540 feet deep. It originally flowed out of a 2 inch pipe and has now been reduced to flowing out of a 3/4 inch garden hose. It flows 24/7/365 and is frequented by residents of New Orleans who haul this excellent drinking water back in gallon jugs. They fill the back of trucks up with the jugs and take it back for drinking, ice, cooking, etc. The public water system for New Orleans comes out of the Mississippi River which is the septic pipe for half of the U.S. (uch)and therefore dosen't taste very well even after being purified.
Ponchatoula, LA 70454 which now has a current use as a Country Market with craft items and local jellies and antiques.
This old Steam Locomotive was used to pull cypress logs out of the Manchac Swamp in the height of the lumber industry. The company was Louisiana Cypress Lumber Company located in Ponchatoula, LA 70454.
