Logs for miiinee
20-Nov-14
Drat. That's beaten me, I'm afraid. Still, it gives me an excuse to come back to Maleny one day.
TFTC! My last full day in Maleny, and Australia for that matter, before we fly back to Scotland. While Mrs Miiinee looked for souvenirs, I went to see if I could find more caches. This was a quick find. I think I'm more afraid of what might pounce out of the cache hiding place than I'm worried about ticks, but i checked myself over just in case.

TFTC! The view has taken the afternoon off, but at least that means I've got the place to myself. Parked next to cache and made a quick find.
TFTC! Travelling South from Agnes Water to Maleny and saw that this rest stop had TWO geocaches nearby to break the journey. Got 'em both. Took the geocoin from this one.
TFTC! Heading south from Agnes Water to Maleny today, and cache-hunting is the perfect way to break the journey. Took a TB. Hello from Scotland.

TFTC! It's my birthday today, so, as a special treat to myself, I got up early and walked from my holiday accommodation at Agnes Water to grab a cache. Do I know how to live the high life or what?! Saw a kangaroo and a flock of red-tailed black cockatoos on the way here, which is not something that happens every day in my native Scotland.
TFTC! That was a mini adventure! Half hoped one of the official paths would lead me to GZ, but soon realised a spot of gentle bushwhackery would be needed. Worth it for the view.
TFTC! Hello from Scotland. Staying a couple of nights in Agnes Waters, so a spot of geocaching is in order. This was a speedy find.
TFTC! Whizzing through Maryborough on our way from Rainbow Beach to Agnes Water, and Mrs Miiinee decides to stop for a pic of Ms Poppins. I fire up the cache finder and whaddaya know - there's one right beside me. Quick find in 35C sunshine. Hello from Scotland.

TFTC! Last time I was in Maleny, Woolworth had either just opened or was about to open. Either way, its presence was causing a bit of a stooshie, as we Scots say. Almost nine years later on, and I'm stood where the protesters stood, fumbling around for hidden treasure. Ain't life queer.
Thanks to CO for email confirmation that I was looking in the right place.

TFTC! A lovely walk and a nicely engineered cache as a reward. I wish more town centres in my native Scotland had rain forest trails, but somehow I don't think we have the climate for it. Rain, yes - sub-tropical temperatures, errr...
TFTC! Search for a stump had me... stumped! An earlier log made things clearer, and cache was quickly in hand.
TFTC! That gets the blood circulating and the lungs working! Watched some lads sledging down the dune on tea trays, then searched every tree I could find until the treasure was found. Top view!

TFTC! I last visited this park in 2006, when my then six-year-old daughter helped Gundars the artist with a paintings of the Glasshouse Mountains, which now hangs on our living room wall back in Scotland.
Today marked our return, and the first person we saw was Gundars the artist, still painting his favourite view. Had a good blether, then tootled off to find some treasure.

TFTC! Finding the cache was nice and quick, but claiming my spot at GZ took a while, after the couple I followed along the trail from the lookout at the waterfall (tiny dribble) decided to take a seat just as I was about to commence my search.
So I made myself scarce for a while and when I came back, they'd left. Then I noticed a couple had already signed the log today and wondered if it was them.
If it was you, I was the breathless beardie Scottish guy 20 yards behind you!
Took a geocoin.

6.30am: TFTC! Two weeks into my Australian adventure and it seems I'm still on UK time, which means all sorts of crazy wake-up times. But you've got to be up insanely early to beat the Maleny Growers, who are already filling the community centre fields with market stalls. Luckily, cache is out of their sight and I was left to my own devices.

TFTC! Hello from Scotland. I last came to Maleny/Witta in 2006, long before I'd heard of geocaching. Ever since I started this crazy caper in 2009, I've hoped to return. Well, here I am.
It's 7am and the sun is streaming through the trees. If I was back home, it'd be pitch black and near-zero. I'll settle for Aussie weather.
No idea what the hint means, but didn't need it anyway.

TFTC! No finds for nearly six months?! Well I'm just going to have to travel half way round the world to check everything's in order!
I last visited Witta in 2006, long before this geocache existed, and long before I'd heard of geocaching. But I got into it in 2009, roughly at the same time this cache appeared 10,500 miles from ma wee hoose, and I've been plotting my return ever since.
A million favourite points, if I could.

TFTC! A wee day trip to Straddie and just enough time before the ferry arrives to find a geocache. Dropped a couple of TBs that want to stay in Australia, otherwise I'd be taking them back to Scotland with me.

Yay! What might have taken forever proved to be a speedy find. Was buzzed by a helicopter.
TFTC! Buried treasure! Unfortunately, the log book looks like it's been in a bar brawl and come off second best. Thanks for the series. I've really enjoyed my wander.
TFTC! How do I explain my behaviour if a muggle wanders along the trail while I'm bent double in the bushes. Luckily, none did. Took the trackables.

TFTC! This was a quick find. I'm glad, since it's getting dark and those jumbo-size bats are giving me the creeps! Tipped a little water from the cache, found a random space in the soggy logbook to sign my name, and took a TB tag that's not attached to anything. I'll put that right and add a few miles to its tally.
TFTC! My first Queensland geocache! After a few days in NSW, we've landed in Main Beach for a couple of nights. No better way to get to know a place than by wandering about in search of tiny hidden boxes. Hello from Scotland.
TFTC! Easy enough to spot where the cache was going to be - actually spotting it was a different matter! Got there in the end.
TFTC! After taking forever and a day to find the turtle cache, I expected another long search. Instead, I got this in an instant. Woo-hoo!
TFTC! The cache was well hidden, and I pretty much found it by accident instead of caching skillz.
TFTC! A tractor is whizzing up and down the sand. Is he trying to erase yesterday's footprints?
TFTC! A quick find. You don't have to stray far from the main path to pretend you're going walkabout in the bush. Or is that just me?
TFTC! We've just arrived in Main Beach and this cache marks the furthest point of our wee evening stroll. Only here for two nights, but will try to find a few more in the series. Clue made sense as I approached GZ and it was a speedy find. I'm a big fan of Australian weather, even when it's overcast. Temperature this evening is a full 20C warmer than back in my native Scotland.
TFTC! After a DNF at the last cache, this was a speedy find. A jogger stopped and did some press-ups in front of me. Is this normal behaviour for here, Should I applaud?!
TFTC! Prodded the undergrowth with a big long stick before committing myself to climbing into the bushes. Took TB.
TFTC! I'm the second visitor to this cache today. Wonder if I'll get to meet Pedalpower14 on the trail.
TFTC! Mrs Miiinee found this one. She pretends not to care about geocaching, but the evidence suggests otherwise.
TFTC! Hello from Scotland. Going to see how many caches I can pick up along this path. This one was a quick find.
TFTC! Looks like I'm the third visitor to this cache today. No TBs or geocoins for me to take back to the frozen north, but at least I've learned what a pandanus is, so that's a bonus.
TFTC! Wandering GPS and lots of things that matched the hint item meant this took a bit of finding, but I haven't travelled halfway round the world just to log a DNF, so I persevered.
10-Nov-14
TFTC! It's a lot foggier and cooler this morning, but I don't care - it's still 15 degrees warmer than where I come from, so off I go in search of treasure. This was a reasonably quick find. Will try to pick up a copy of the paper as i meander round town.
TFTC! Hello from Scotland. We are staying in Dorrigo (or Doritos as my phone insists on auto-correcting it) for one night on our way to Queensland.
Cache was guarded by a sausage dog that was doing its best to be fierce, before its owner called it back to the houses near GZ. To be honest, I've seen more aggressive cauliflowers.

TFTC! Choo-choo! Look at all the old locos, sitting in the sunshine, waiting for their second lease of life. Good luck getting them back on the rails.
