I am no longer in NZ. This GC has apparently disappeared, so time to say good-bye.

I am no longer in NZ. It appears this GC is all washed up, so time to say good-bye.

I left [Trickle Track](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC44T1V_track-trickle-nelson?guid=4aeaf39b-a4cd-4749-9f23-99aeba678a85) and made my way along what I thought was the track. I soon lost the track and found myself on the hillside above the creek, wallowing in a tangled web of vines and very lose footing. I had to make the decision to go back or make my way down the creek. I was about 100-120 m of Reservoir Waterfall, so I (probably stupidly) decided to climb through the undergrowth and along the creek to the GZ.
Every once in a while I thought I saw the track but it was not the case. I took me a good hour to make it that 100-m. I kept thinking of the stories you read about people getting lost in the bush and in the Richmond Hills. I hoped that when I eventually reached the GZ I would find the track and things would get easier. When I finally reached the GZ, the track was obvious and I was greatly relieved. After a short rest, I searched for the cache. The GPS was unreliable for pinpointing a location (+/- 20m). I searched everywhere that I thought the cache would be, twice. I did not want to give up, but I didn't know what the rest of the track would be like. Sadly, after all the effort, I had to give up and move on toward [Weta Motel](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC44T1W_weta-motel-nelson).

I did not find the pipe/culvert but I did find a 'trail' that was marked with a cairn, so down I went. GPS readings were erratic to say the least, but I kept at it knowing I probably wouldn't be this way again for a while. My plan was to go from the top of Reservoir Track and head back down to Easby Park picking up the series of geocaches along the way. Having secured Trickle Track, I headed off toward [Reservior Waterfall](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC44T1K_reservoir-waterfall-nelson) following what I thought was the track.

It was my own fault, because I did not heed the warnings or the terrain rating. Be advised before heading down Reservoir Creek that it is worthy of the **4-star terrain rating** and that the track is overgrown and not for the novice, at least as of this posting. There is a warning sign at the other end of the track (see photo) which I wish I seen prior to going down Reservoir Creek. Smile

Continued on the Reservoir Waterfall log...

I made my way along the track from [Reservoir Waterfall](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC44T1K_reservoir-waterfall-nelson?guid=0409a17d-9c16-4781-a412-9e6f09b76aa9). Very glad the ropes were there to assure me I was on the track and to keep me from plummeting down the ravine. The footing was loose and along the track I slipped more than once. The GPS was a bit more reliable (+/-10 m). Using the hint, I searched the obvious location thoroughly, up and down, above, below, inside and out. No luck. I found the Weta Hotel (vacant) to make sure I was on the right track. I went back and searched again, but no luck. Sad

On to [Big Timber](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC44T9K_big-timber-nelson).

A particular busy night at Queen Street Fish Supply had me playing the tourist enjoying the NZ fauna while muggles ran up the street to get their 1/2 scoop of chips. I was soon on track though and found GZ but had left my pen in the car. Instead of signing I've taken a snap and preserved room in the log. Then it was off to the Sprig for a pint of Wai-Iti!

Today was Day 2 of the Garin College Geocaching Grad Challenge. Its was a brilliant day. Teachers and students both had luck geocaching on Rough Island, which is a geocache gold mine!

Surprised at how fast we found the GZ. Excellent clues. Had to backtrack the original path, but not as far as Godwits! TFTC!

Lid is broken and will not last too much longer.

Returning from an overnight at Browning hut I took the second half of the Hackett Hut loop. I knew enough French to get me in the right area, though I went too high to a very likely tree. Fortunately I persevered! Viva la Geocache!
