Papaikou Hongwanji Mission
Hilo, Hawaii
We found this mission, one of many on the Hawaiian Islands, while on vacation. This mission is on a scenic drive off a main highway north of Hilo. It was built in 1909, damaged by the tsunami in 1946, and rebuilt in 1955.

We'll post our picture once we get back to the mainland next week.

Kaimu, Hawaii
We found this "ALOHA" while vacationing on The Big Island of Hawaii. It was on highway 130. They call the drive the triangle. In the southeastern section of the island. If you ever get there, make sure you make this short and enchanted drive.

Waimea, Kaua'i, Hawaii
The plaque here commemorates where Captain Cook first set foot on Hawaii. It has been slightly defaced but it appears that it has also been cleaned up.

Well???? Can't remember?? Well, Elvis filmed Blue Hawaii here. Hurricane Iniki in 1992 destroyed this place and it has yet to be rebuilt. It has been bought and sold about 10 times since 92' and no one knows for sure if and when it will be rebuilt.

While driving to Las Vegas to see "Frozen Fury 8" we stopped in Primm @ Buffalo Bills to ride the Roller Coaster. Inside I spotted this Indian in front of a smoke shop. A unexpected little bonus for the day. Glad I grabbed one of Tommy Trojans Lucky Pennies earlier in the day!!! TFTL

While heading to Las Vegas for "Frozen Fury 8" we stopped at Buffalo Bolls in Primm, NV to ride their roller coaster. This is "Desperado". The first dropp will blow you away. This was my 4th time in 3 years to ride this wild coaster. If you're in town, RIDE IT!!! TFTL

"Salad or Dinner Fork?" (GCQOX8)
After further review of my final coordinates, I now believe that the final WP for this cache falls within the required 2.5 miles from the nearest cache. I've checked and rechecked this now a few times. WP1 is what I will list. This way no one will be able to just go to the cache.
Last month when asking about this I was just not sure. IO am today.

Fossil Falls in California
This is located north of Ridgecrest just off US 395 about 40 miles south of Lone Pine. Very interesting area. Old lava beds and falls. Just got lucky and spotted this goat? while looking for a cache in the area. I had to really lean out to get the shot. One slip and ones history. TFTV

Manzanar War Relocation Center.
Along U.S 395 in California between Lone Pine & Independence. Almost couldn't believe this was there. How many more are out there nestled away on the sides of highways through out the country.
Bonus find for us. We found our first in Redondo Beach, Calif. on Pacific Coast Highway by the Redondo Beach Library.

Manzanar War Relocation Center.
While driving around Manzanar I was amazed to find out there was a Pet Cemetery here. Like in the cemetery near by, the graves are decorated with bits & pieces of things found near by, coins as well as colorful origami birds fading in the hot desert sun. Sleep well my little doggie!

Stumbled upon this marker while heading up to the Sierra's for some well needed camping & hiking. TFTV

01-Sep-05
Wait a minute. I missed this one one my first try earlier. While I was on my bike 2 hours ago, lots of people seemed to be in this general area for some odd reason. Even with that I was unable to find the cache. This second chance would be more favorable. Got a glimse of what I thought was the cache...it was. 10:44am, I found the last of the Lower Arroyo Series. SL Thank you f0t0m0m for the morning exercise and another great group of caches. I look forward to getting to the Tujunga series sometime in the future. Now, I'm heading up to the mountains for some ellusive caches up there. TFTC'S

Redondo Beach, California.
We spotted this beautiful wall as we road out of the marina caching on this wonderful California Sunday. The painting is on the wall of Redondo Beach Power. My picture only gets 1/2 of the entire wall. To many trees in the area, so this was the best I could do. TFTL

These busts of Jackie & Max Robinson are located across the street from the City Hall in Pasadena, California. The Pasadena Robinson Memorial is a tribute to Pasadena's most famous athletes. Jackie Robinson was the first black to play in Baseball. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This lighthouse is on top of the Bank of the West building in Pasadena, California. The building was the former home of the Independent Star-News, the newpaper of Pasadena. This structure was built in the early 1900's and the light was used up until the mid 60's. As a youngster, I remember seeing the light shining downtown. I grew up about 2 miles north of Downtown Pasadena. The building is on Colorado Blvd., the famed route of the Annual Tournament of Roses Parade viewed by million each New Years Day.
