Logs for OntarioGrandma

Visiting from Ontario, Canada to cache on Route 66. The prize? Just being here to enjoy the fabulous scenery is prize enough.
14-Dec-12
Met another Canadian cacher while on the island today. Together we foiled the muggles at this cache to get it logged and returned. A great start to the day in a beautiful spot.
...and I succeeded to. I outwaited the muggles to get this one, log it and return it. Another find on the island.
Made the climb to the top. It was tough, but not as bad as the going back down. Funny how those little round lava pebbles want to slide out from under your feet and take you with them. A beautiful spot with incredible views all around.
Completed on Dec 14th, my last full day in New Zealand. It was a great way to spend the day. The path through the caves is dark so be sure to bring a good torch (not a cheap travel one like mine).

Great hide in a nice garden getaway. Managed to get cache while remaining unseen by the muggles. TFTC from a Canadian cacher.
Email was sent to CO on Dec 12th but no reply has been forthcoming, so I log without permission. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about this devastating earthquake so long ago and the chance to see the Art Deco architecture preserved since.

My entire bus tour group knows what I'm up to so they were able to deflect the muggles for me. A great spot for a cache and a relatively easy find (without the muggle worry). TFTC from a Canadian cacher.
Completed this one in the 15 minute break we had on our tour. Took a bit of running to get it all done and still have time for the "little girls room." Picture was taken with GPS. A great spot and a beautiful view.

Completed this earthcache while travelling to Mt. Cook from Te Anau today. Great spot, great pics.
Sorry, CO, can't get pics to upload from where I am staying. I will edit log and add them as soon as possible.

Looks like it might have been muggled again. It was wedged almost out of reach and the lid was gone. Good location for a cache, though. Had a hint from a passing local cacher as I was trying to look like a tourist reading signs while they were behind me. Thanks from a Canadian cacher.
This one is located right behind the hotel I'm staying at. Good thing I eventually figured my right from my left. Left Canada flag pin in cache. TFTC in your beautiful city.
GPSr wanted to send me inside the building, but I was not fooled! I did a lot of fiddling in my backpack while the muggle tried to ignore me. Thanks, from a Canadian cacher.

Enjoying a bit of caching while in Queenstown. Love the peninsula area. TFTC, from a Canadian cacher. Left Canada flag pin.
Completed this one on the 6th but had to wait until returning to Canada for the internet to be more reliable. A great spot to visit. Had a "frolfer" (frisbee golfer) take my pic while there. TFTC
Enjoying a bit of caching while in Queenstown. Love the peninsula area. TFTC, from a Canadian cacher.
Took keychain, left Canada souvenirs. Enjoying a bit of caching while in Queenstown. Love the peninsula area. Great hide. TFTC, from a Canadian cacher.

A good hide in a place with a great view. Thanks, from a Canadian cacher.
Completed this one but had to wait until I returned home to get internet that would work well enough to log. A great spot for an earthcache. Pulling up a lawn chair and staying in Queenstown forever crossed my mind.
03-Dec-12
Completed while touring both islands of New Zealand. The water coming through the caverns was thunderous and sprayed so high above us. Definitely an unforgettable spot. Took some amazing pics while here.
02-Dec-12
Found where this one needed to be, but since I'm sort of Hobbit sized, it was a stretch. Did get it and signed log. Nice park to visit. TFTC from a Canadian cacher.
First cache on South Island while touring NZ. Nice road to explore, easy waypoint. Did need to step into garden to reach the final. TFTC from a Canadian cacher.
01-Dec-12
Found this one while on tour. No muggles about at the time. A good spot to visit and a fitting tribute. TFTC from a Canadian cacher.

My first cache in New Zealand. Didn't need the GPSr to figure out where the cache should be. The problem would be the muggles. So, I waited until Saturday morning to get it. Now, some people may think you are "Barking Mad" for placing the cache here, but I was "Madly Barking" when I got it. Yes, finally, my bad cold was good for something. My coughing fit had me reaching into my bag on the ground for tissues (and retrieving the cache at the same time). Oops, dropped my pencil after logging. More digging around, replaced cache, and done! Thanks for the challenge from a crazy Canadian cacher.

Had to strategically position myself to be at eye level with the cache in order to see it. From there is was a real stretch to get it in hand. TFTC
This one eluded me as I walked along the pathway. Perhaps I can get back to find it before I leave Hobart.
No seagulls, just mug-gulls. Some of them are even gull-able. (like believing I was watching the ants on the tree for a reason!) A nice trail early in the morning on a beautiful sunny day.
Last one for the morning before checking out from the hotel at the end of my Hobart tour. TFTC
19-Nov-12
Completed this one a while ago but haven't been able to log until now. The layer I am describing is a pale yellow colour with horizontal cracking. Hopefully the pics will upload now. If not, I will edit and add them when internet connection is more reliable.
Logging with CO's permission. Completed a while back but no time to log. Pics are not uploading tonight so will edit log to add them when internet is more reliable.
15-Nov-12
Lovely park just down the road from the hotel where I'm staying while on tour in Tasmania. TFTC
Not much time to cache while on tour, but this one was next to our hotel, so how could I not go out to get it. TFTC
09-Nov-12
Dodging rain showers and muggles to get this one. Had to log inside my jacket to keep it dry then replace and run to shelter. Sure made for an exciting last cache on my last day in Melbourne. Enjoyed seeing this area. TFTC
Logged with permission. I love how the earthcaches provide such extensive history of the area of focus. I learned a lot about how the Yarra came to be know as "the upside down" river by many of the locals. It was also interesting to read the immigrant panels as you cross the bridge. TFTC and providing me with so much info. (It was nice to meet you too, CO.)

Too many muggles, ah, they are gone ... looking in the bushes ... rats, more muggles ... oh no a bus full! Well, no chance to pin point the cache. I was getting strange looks as I "took pics" of the bushes, tied my shoes, again... Have to pass on this one.
Completed the requirements for this earthcache as I drove in and out of coastal areas along the road back to Melbourne. A real feast for the eyes.
I tried to get a pic with me and the GPS in the pic, but there were no muggles to take it for me and the wind kept blowing my camera around.

Back again today to see the Apostles on my return to Melbourne. It's quite windy here today, adding the mist to the mystique of the location. Still, I could just sit in a chair and stare at them for hours.
Returning to Melbourne today so I'll explore and cache backwards. Had to get one in Port Fairy, before heading east. A lovely spot from which to travel down the coastal area of P.F. Some great views at the tip across from Griffiths Island.
Since I'm visiting from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, I had to get a cache here in Peterborough (as well as pics). Nice spot to take them from. TFTC and the chance to "cache at home."
Had some interesting geologic discussions with people at the beach, went into the water (brrr), took my pics and some for others and got a workout walking back up the beach. This spot presents us with so many different geologic features. I could have parked myself on a chair and stared at it for hours.
Found this cache on my way back along the G.O.R. Stopped for a bite to eat ... some pics ... a cache ... more pics. TFTC
Unfortunately, I only had time to get one cache here in Warrnambool. I like this one, makes you challenge what you are really seeing. Good area for some pics too.
It's hard to top mother earth for beauty and wonder. Got amazing pics here and all along the coast. A real feast for the eyes.
