Oxford, NC - This isn't your normally dam for a large lake. I hope you will allow this posting. This is Lake Devin in Granville County, Oxford, NC. The dam was built because the orginal land eventually collapsed and flooded the local area. I will try to find pictures I can download to show the flooded area. Now with the concrete dam, it has helped to stem back the water and allow for homes to be built in the surronding area. I used to work at this Lake and from time to time I had to mow the grass on the dam. Talk about a funny feeling doing this. Pics posted.

Seven Springs, NC - Out skirts of Goldsboro, NC. Driving through the county and saw this country grave site so I just had to stop. Glad I did. Found a Confederate Soldiers Grave site. Richard Elmore. The cemetary is even named after him.
Also there was a newspaper clipping of the soldiers that are buried there. HIs grave stone is probably the only one that is legible. Had a time with the others.

Pics posted. Sorry no pic of GPS. When I went to take the pic with my GPS my batteries died... and I was about 15 mins away from any stores...But I promise I had it with me.

Thoroughfare, NC - Thoroughfare Fire Department. Small community outside of Goldsboro, NC. A lot of small towns near Goldsboro have these alarms due to the air base in Goldsboro. Here is just one.

Fremont, NC - Small town on the out skirts of Goldsboro, NC. This is the birthplace of one of North Carolina's past governors. There is his family home and farm that is state run now. Also there is a cemetary that has some family members buried there. Inside the Charles B. Aycock building are pictures and things that were given by the family as mementos to keep the name going and what he did while he was governor. Also in near by Pikeville, 3 miles down the road a high school was named after the governor.

Nahunta, N - Outskirts of Goldsboro, NC. Nahunta Prok is called the American Capital of Pork. They say they have the largest selection of pork meat, sausage, BBQ, and anything else that comes in pork. This farm is huge, however, they do not send swines to the chamber here. They only process and get pork ready to sale. They also claim and I have heard this in the county that it is the best pork meat there.
