Logs for biggles1024
12-Nov-24
We searched for this cache on the way out and the way back to no avail. We repeated the projection a number of times and searched our calculated GZ but no cache was to be found. We all came up with a number of theories as to where it might be with perhaps the most popular being that the container had sustained some damaged and sunk or that it was still in place but well below the current level of the lake. The water at GZ was crystal clear and we peered into it as best we could but still no cache. Oh well, perhaps another time.
11-Nov-24
I've been wanting to do this cache for a number of years, but not having a kayak for many of those years was a major obstacle. After some success at Lysterfield Lake, Tiz and I headed here to try our luck. A pit stop at Macca's for some much needed sustenance and then to GZ. I took my new iPhone out of my pocket and placed it on the deck, bent over and both my glasses and pen fell from my other pocket into the water. [:o)] A least it wasn't my phone. Off with shoes and socks and into the water I went for an easy retrieval. A search of the structure ensued and we kept at it for around 30 minutes. Not even with text messages to the CO could we spot this cache. Reluctantly, we had to call off our hunt.
**11/11/2024, 11:36:00****Find #5877****Traditional Find #3468**This was the first cache we attempted today. A short paddle and then we began searching. With nothing being spotted, we resorted to reading previous logs which unfortunately led us astray. It seems the water level is quite a bit higher than it has been when others were here caching. Tiz13 finally spotted the cache and I did the signing duties. The log is full and could use replacing.**Thank-you to sedgwickDave for placing this geocache**
**11/11/2024, 12:13:00****Find #5878****Traditional Find #3469**After failing to find the mystery cache on our first attempt, we headed here to try our luck. Around a couple of trees we went and then the cache was spotted. I drove my yak into the branches and was able to reach the cache easily and signed the log for all three of us.**Thank-you to sedgwickDave for placing this geocache**
**11/11/2024 10:17:00Find #5876Event Find #121**I was expecting to be in Gippsland today but that didn't work out so I was free to attend this event. A fantastic location and quite well attended for a weekday. After the event, Tiz13, teamdfl and I took to the water in our kayaks. We found two out of three under absolutely perfect conditions. A great way to start the week. **Thank-you to teamdfl for hosting this event.**

**09/11/2024, 11:44:00****Find #5875****Traditional Find #3467**As the event that I had been attending was winding down, I headed over here to find one of the few caches that I hadn't found in this park. Finding it was easy and consulting my phone provided me with the code to open it. I found a temporary log inside and signed that. I confirmed for the CO back at the event that a new log was required. **Thank-you to gmj3191 for placing this geocache**
**09/11/2024 10:43:00Find #5874Event Find #120**A well attended event to celebrate a popular geocacher's 4,000 find milestone. No rain, but the wind was a bit chilly or I just didn't dress appropriately [:o)] but no rain and an excellent venue.Congratulations on your 4,000 find, Judith. Here's to many more.**Thank-you to jascat for hosting this event.**

**26/10/2024, 22:01:00****Find #5871****Multi Find #476**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. This cache was our main goal of the night. It was a pleasant night for a walk and hardly any muggles were around. We followed the white reflectors and then suddenly were confronted with a multitude of reflectors. What the? [?] Either the Council or Parks Victoria had place an aluminium tag on almost every tree in this part of the park and they often looked suspiciously like the sort of reflector a CO might use. Having determined that neither these tags nor the information on them were part of the cache we found ourselves at the other end of the park. The final two reflectors were found and then our U.V. torch came into play. Its great to see UV making a comeback. Its great to see a new night cache too.GZ and the cache presented no problems and then we headed back to Steve's car.A favourite point from me. **Thank-you to ahomburg for placing this geocache**
**26/10/2024, 19:55:00****Find #5866****Wherigo Find #366**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. We are always keen to do a Wherigo and so didn't hesitate to tackle this one. With the co-ords calculated we headed to GZ. Some local youth were drinking at the entrance to the park but we experienced no trouble from them. GZ was out of sight to them. I inspected one object and declared that the cache wasn't there, Steve took a look and in a couple of seconds had found the cache. [:o)] That was an embarrassing miss for me. [B)]**Thank-you to ahomburg for placing this geocache**
**26/10/2024, 23:17:00****Find #5873****Letterbox Find #101**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. I've been wanting to do this cache for quite some time but the opportunity never presented itself. Tonight however was different. We collected the information required and then headed off to the Owl. I think it was in this park and Steve spotted a Tawny Frogmouth, an actual Owl. Finding the cache presented no problems. A favourite point from me.**Thank-you to +Wife for placing this geocache**
**26/10/2024, 20:29:00****Find #5867****Multi Find #472**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. We had no trouble finding the container with the Lego and we moved to a nearby park bench to begin construction. At some point a muggle walked past us without comment. Two middle aged men building Lego by torchlight in a park on a Saturday night. Nothing at all suspect about that. We assembled the bricks and soon had the co-ords in hand. The final cache was an easy find as it hadn't been hidden very well by a previous finder or else had been disturbed. No further construction was undertaken here as it as by now, very dark. A favourite point from me.**Thank-you to GJMMelb for placing this geocache**
**26/10/2024, 19:18:00****Find #5865****Multi Find #471**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. We had no trouble calculating the final co-ords after Steve corrected a mistake that I had made. The cache revealed itself to us quite quickly considering the small size. With the log signed, we headed off to the next cache.**Thank-you to ahomburg for placing this geocache**
**26/10/2024, 20:45:00****Find #5869****Multi Find #474**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. This was a fun cache and not quite what I was expecting. We had no trouble finding either of the two objects and with the co-ords obtained, we headed to GZ. I very nice size container was there and for some strange reason, I quite enjoyed unscrewing the lid with the tool provided. A favourite point from me.**Thank-you to geo_jas for placing this geocache**
**26/10/2024, 21:13:00****Find #5870****Multi Find #475**I headed out with Steve to tackle a couple of night caches and other multi's whilst we were in this area. We proceeded to each waypoint and found a novel way of presenting the information. One of the most muggle proof techniques I've seen to date and proceeded to GZ. It was a bit of a bush bash especially at night but we are well used to that.An amazing container was waiting for us at GZ and nice field puzzle it was too. Nothing really to solve as such, just a matter of methodically removing the parts that held the lid on.So much work has gone into this cache that it's a real shame I can only give it one favourite point. **Thank-you to geo_jas for placing this geocache**

**14/09/2024 03:15:00Find #5864Event Find #119**I managed to get around three hours sleep before heading out into the cold and wet morning. I got almost every red light between home and this event but still managed to arrive just before the start. A number of cachers were already in attendance so I ordered a coffee and then joined them.Lots of interesting conversation followed and before long, an hour had passed so it was time for me to head home.A very well attended event. My thanks to PP7 for hosting this event yet again. It has become an annual tradition for many of us. **Thank-you to Pinkpiggy7 for hosting this event.**

**06/08/2024, 11:20:00****Find #5872****Multi Find #477**I unexpectedly found myself over in this part of Melbourne and naturally I had my caching bag with me. I seldom leave home without it. I wandered around the waypoints collecting the necessary information and then with the co-ords for GZ calculated, I made a quick find. This was a great way to finish off my morning.**Thank-you to Fleabag- for placing this geocache**

I hadn't done a night cache for far too long and so tackled this one enthusiastically. I had no trouble obtaining the information I needed and then proceeded to GZ where a quick find was made. I appreciate the effort that has gone into this cache and am awarding it a favourite point. **Thank-you to Mister Doctor for placing this geocache**

**21/07/2024 11:24:00Find #5858CITO Find #26**It looked like the rain was going to stay away until this afternoon or night so I made a last minute decision to attend this CITO. I don't think I've been in this reserve since I found the caches here back in 2013. I arrived early and before long, a good number of cachers also arrived as did the "Friends of Glenfern" people. This was a very educational CITO and fortunately I had a Friend nearby otherwise I would have been pulling out native plants and leaving weeds. Two weeds were the size of small trees and could only be cut with a saw. This is the first time I've ever felled a weed.A delicious morning tea was provided and then I joined the hunt for the newly published Mystery cache.**Thank-you to Zeus, Hera & kids for hosting this event.**
**21/07/2024, 11:24:00****Find #5859****Mystery Find #1160**Others in our group had done the heavy lifting on this mystery so its only fitting that they share the FTF. It was nice to be able to add another mystery cache to my total, now to work out how the co-ords were determined.**Thank-you to Zeus, Hera & kids for placing this geocache**

**19/07/2024, 13:07:00****Find #5862****Mystery Find #1164**This was another challenge that I had qualified for on the day of publication but had to wait until I was in the area to actually find the cache and sign the log. A very exposed location but fortunately, the CO had provided an explicit hint which I appreciate. After realizing that my compass was directing me to the wrong side of the tree, I moved to the opposite side and made a quick find. I soon spotted was I was after and not for the first time since I started caching, I was glad that I'm not on the short side of tall. **02/07/2024, 12:20:00****Find #5857****Letterbox Find #100**I've been eyeing off this cache for quite some time. Today was the day. I headed here after attending a CITO and and Event. I thought this would give me an opportunity to use my new telescopic ladder for the first time, but when I found the relevant tree, I saw that it was very 'climbable' provided one has reasonably long legs, which I do. I found the key which was hidden nearby and having checked that the resident possums had vacated their dwelling, they had, proceeded to retrieve and sign the long. A terrific cache and deserving of a favourite point. **Thank-you to ilukaperi for placing this geocache**

**26/06/2024, 14:04:00****Find #5856****Letterbox Find #99**I've been eyeing off this cache for quite some time. Today was the day. As I was heading out of the park, I parked my car outside the gate up off the road and then headed back in on foot. I had no trouble finding the good sized container but then found myself presented with a problem I had forgotten about. It had been quite some time since I last read the cache page and I had forgotten that finding the outer box wasn't the end of the hunt. I had more work to do. Fortunately, I looked around and quickly saw what I needed. Not for the first time since I started caching, I'm glad that I'm not vertically challenged. I retrieved the key and then opened the main box and then accessed the log itself. Very nicely done, Rod. A favourite point from me. **Thank-you to n0w0rries for placing this geocache**

**25/06/2024, 13:17:00****Find #5854****Traditional Find #3466**After failing to find a Letter Box cache down the track, I headed up here to try and make amends. Fortunately a quick find resulted and I was able to head off to another Letter Box. The sun was out by now and I had to remove the jacket that I'd been wearing since the start of the earlier CITO. Really enjoyed the walk in the sun. **Thank-you to WeAllNeedKnickers for placing this geocache**
I needed a Letter box cache today to help me qualify for a challenge cache but this was not to be it. I searched for a good 20 minutes to no avail. I increased my search radius and also read previous logs which seemed to indicate that the co-ords could be out by as much as 11m but I still couldn't find it. I'll try again at a later date.

**18/06/2024, 14:27:00****Find #5850****Traditional Find #3465**I needed a find for today and this was the closest cache to home apart from a puzzle that I'm finding impossible to solve. A short walk from my parking spot led to be GZ. I spent a good fifteen to twenty minutes inspecting three possible trees. I resorted to reading previous logs and saw that even very experienced cachers had had trouble spotting this cache.A bit more searching and then I resorted to PAF. Whilst I was chatting to my friend and before any information had been received, I spotted the little blighter. Whew. It really isn't difficult to see, I just made it difficult for myself. **15/06/2024, 17:42:00****Find #5849****Multi Find #470**I headed out with Steve to tackle some more JuzzMagic caches and also do a night cache that was in the area.Back to the carpark where I'd left my car and we set about doing this cache. Whilst we were looking for the relevant bench seat, we accidentally found the Tree of Reflection. At its base we found what we needed and a short walk to GZ and we soon had the cache in hand. About five minutes in total would be my estimate. After signing the log and returning the cache to its hiding place, we went for a walk and found the bench seat. We did therefore, visit all the waypoints, just not in the order the CO intended them to be found it. This is the first actual night cache that I have done for quite some time and I quite enjoyed it. We both DNF'd here some time back. Steve had since returned and managed to retrieve the log. Today it was my turn to try to turn that blue frown into a yellow smiley.
