Logs for doublec
05-Jan-19
I refreshed the cache today, replacing the container and adding a new log book. The new container should be waterproof. The book is also in a plastic bag and I included some pens and pencils in a separate bag. The existing log book is with me, drying it - it's quite soaked. I'll see what can be recovered from it when it is dry.

Thanks for the update on the cache condition. I plan to replace the cache container with something more waterproof and fix things up within a couple of weeks. Sorry about the lack of maintenance.

Thanks for the logs about the current condition of the cache. I'll revisit and clean it up this month.

Found the cache late last night with Sarah, Mr 9 and Shadow. Was a bit dark - we should have left earlier - but was a fun find and a lovely area. We were dubious about the stream crossing at first but it was shallow - and cold! Thanks for the cache!

Tried to find this last week but couldnt find the entrance. Tried again with Mr 8, Sarah and myself. Mr 8's sharp eyes found the steps and we made the entrance. Explored the tunnels and found the room with the cache. Unfortunately cache contents are strewn across the corner of the room with some lightly covered in rags. Looks like someone has found the cache and dumped the contents. I left the cache as is, TNLN, thanks for the awesome location. Amazing to have these tunnels hidden away.
EDIT: Heh, it looks like what I thought was the cache wasn't. Most likely some homeless persons bag of trinkets that were torn up and spread around. I'll have to try again and see if I can find the real thing!

No idea what the hint meant. Searched for ages and was just about to give up when Mr 8 stumbled upon it. Thanks for the cache!

Log was slightly damp but still writable. Nice hiding spot and great area to walk around. Thanks for the cache!
Found the cache, nicely hidden. Enjoyed the views and the walk. Thanks for the cache!

Sarah and I drove down from Auckland to fix up cache and take the chance to walk the Patea Track while there. It was a beautiful day and the track walk was great. It brought back lots of awesome memories of when we used to visit the Mountain House and Andersons Alpine Lodge in the area regularly.
The cache was indeed damp. We put a new waterproof container in, dried the existing contents and put then in the new container. The logbook was damp so we replaced that and we'll dry out the old one and recover the details in it when we can.
Thanks everyone for visiting our cache!

Sarah and I fixed up the cache today. We replaced the container, put a new dry log book in it and dried the remaining contents and kept them in there.

Thanks for the update about the cache needing maintenance. I'm going to try and fix the cache up during the break between Christmas and New Year. It'd be a shame to have the cache die after such a long time.
Oops, accidentally removed the "needs maintenance" flag. Will update when the cache is fixed up.

Found the cache with Sarah, Jesse, Shadow the dog and myself, after a bit of searching. Thanks for the cache!

Thanks for the recent comments about the cache getting wet. I hope to visit it in the next week or so and maintain it. Glad to see it's getting a steady stream of visitors!

Sounds like the cache has gotten a bit damp, I'll visit and fix up the container. Sarah and I recovered the camera but it was damaged and the photo's couldn't be developed. I'll replace it with something more sturdy. Thanks for visiting!

After almost giving up we tried again and found the cache - great spot and nice camouflage. Found it at about 3:30pm on 26/1/2003.
Took dalmation dog and left a rock 'n ropes card and a two dollar coin.

Re-visited cache to retrieve camera. It looks like it's got stuck but Sarah and I will try and develop what films have been taken. Also took the time to put all contents in snaplock bags.

Found the cache at about 5:30pm just before dark. Very cold in that area of Wainuiomata at this time of year! Took playing cards. Added 'finger skateboard' and leaflets for Taekwondo training, any geocacher welcome to come along and train .
The cache smelt a bit funny. I suspect some of the food may have spoiled so you might want to check it out.

Sarah and I found it. A great days mountain biking in the area as well as finding the cache. It wasn't hard to find and was good fun getting there. Now I need to recover from my first time on a bike in at least 20 years!
10-Feb-02
Found it after a bit of hunting. Feel sorry for some of that native grass though...Took nothing, left a christmas decoration.

Found the item mentioned in the encrypted hints but couldn't find the cache anywhere. Looked through lots of gorse, got lots of scratches, and spent about an hour hunting but no luck.
Found the cache after a short look. Added a book on txt messaging and removed the CDR.

Found the cache after a bit of hunting around in the area. Our first cache find, we took nothing and left nothing (as we had nothing and only started looking for it when we noticed it was nearby while driving past). A good fun cache to find.
