On an adventure with 4 awesome Scouts. We were having an awesome day having cycled from Waikino to Waihi and back again...then got our full packs on and walked via Deans, Mangakino and Dalys tracks into the Hut. what a cute hut..there were 4 Czech tourists staying too. The Scouts were really excited to go caching as part of their 4 day explorer journey. Ella was still up the rimu tree trying to get phone reception (teenagers!!) and Riley and I went looking for this one. A little overgown enroute to the find..but found fairly quickly with good clue.
The log was a ball of wet mush. so we took the smaller container out and back to the hut to wash and dry. I put some paper i had in the container for a log. we then put the small container in a zip lock bag and put that inside the larger cache container. hopefully its all good now..its still in place ok
TFTC, loved the tracks in..the most beautiful bush..even saw blue mushrooms!!

Well what an adventure we had getting to this high up cache in the clouds. We started our girls weekend friday, staying at Pirongia lodge. Then 4 of us got up Saturday morning and set out to the summit from greys rd, on the mahaukura track. What a stunning and challenging track! It was like walking in a jurassic park movie at times..huge trees..big roots to climb over, rock faces to climb up,moss hanging from the trees..lashings of mud, hiking in early spring is the best! We climbed up into the clouds..and carried on to this cache. Found reasonably easy.it was wet inside but the log was dry in its bag. Signed to log and hid the cache away again. Fave for the absolute best experience getting here! There was no view whasoever apart from cloud haha..have to come back on a clear day. Overnight at the hut for us, them back down the tirohanga and ruapune tracks sunday. Thanks! Magnificent place...ps There we no trackables in the cache,I checked twice.

Having a nice walk with dog in a rare gap in the day.nice part of the coastal walkway with lovely views..quite deserted today. Found ok with clever camo, but log too damp to write on.have a photo if needed.nice job, and a lovely spot. Thanks ps the logs just a little damp but my pen wasn't too flash.

Having a nice stroll with friends in new unknown places. Lovely day with a bit of a chill in the air. Thought i was going to have a mindblock Wink then hey presto. Nice cache, good timing as miniature muggles nearby. Thanks !

19-Jun-16
Decided to check to see all was in order for the cache. Dropped my son and his girlfriend at the beach, returned to the lake wainamu carpark and headed towards the cache. Been a while since I've been up this track and forgot how much I like it. Hilly, technical and muddy (today anyway) lots of nice bush. Got to gz surrounds and found the cache safe and sound. Replaced the log as it was damp. It's an excellent walk up to this cache but it's been a while since it's been found..so I challenge you, enjoy a good fun tramping track and go find light craver! Be aware gps jumps around a little, so read the description and clue and use your eyes. You should see gz no problem!

Was strolling around grey lynn and burbs waiting for teenager who was testing for the airforce. Arrived at this lovely wee park and had to wait for muggles to leave. There was an inquisitive cat that made it all the more entertaining..thanks!

Haha wasn't keen on this one when I first spotted the suspect item, but being my brave self I extracted and logged it..full.log.to max so having to write over other logs. Very cool cache

Walking around checking out the local area. Waiting for teenager undergoing defense force tests down the road. Nice wee park with lots of happy chatter from the nearby preschool. Imagine it's very busy weekend time. Tftc dropped 2 tbs, April showers and running

six of us ladies decided to walk into the Waitawheta Hut via the Waitawheta tramway track. Fabulous weekend with lots of swims and fun. Highly recommended walk. Its pretty flat on the most of the way (unless you go detour on the Bluff Kauri loop track) but so pretty and awesome bush and ferns. Lots of history too. Stayed at the hut which was fantastic, newly renovated and comfy. Great place to put a cache. Bit overgrown on approach to GZ but found ok. slightly damp but well wrapped Smile thanks fave for this one and the experience

Having a nice holiday away in the RV, teen was dropped off for 2 weeks..wandering around with no fixed plans. Nice day for a walk around the perimeter (partial anyway) was reading about the impending lake in the Martha Mine site. Found cache ok, good size and good order. Thanks, nice addition to the walk

Having a nice holiday away in the RV, teen was dropped off for 2 weeks..wandering around with no fixed plans. This one had me going for a while..GPS wasn't doing too well and lots of possibilities. Dog was patiently waiting with husband..then he wandered into the area and sat right beside it..must get my dog a cache name..he has a habit of doing that, good old spaniel! Thanks Smile

So I had dropped the teenagers off to do some sensory maze thing. Too nice to stay inside I went for a walk up to albert park. I dropped via this cache and there were tons of muggles around. I was sitting near gz and a couple were acting a little 'like me'. For a while we both tried to act muggle like. They moved to another spot and were displaying all the phone characteristics of a geocachers. So I couldn't resist and I went and asked them ' are you looking for what I'm looking for' then I thought perhaps that wasn't such a good line..and quickly said 'the geocache' before they ran off haha. I quickly discovered they were from the 'prairies of canada' I think anyway. Very nice people visiting our lovely country. We chatted for a while then formed a joint cover plan and went in for the kill. Muggles had no idea. Wink found ok, signed and back in its place. Thanks! Was fun meeting others they were neat people ..

Having a nice wander around Sanders reserve. Day was overcast so not many bodies around, just the way I like it! approached GZ and cache was having a bit of a peek at the world, so easy find. reinstated the "camo position" thanks!

what a magic spot, will be coming back in summer to enjoy this. Had a bit of a look for the culprit..then saw the clever camo, nice job! thanks for bringing me here...may not have found this lovely place otherwise

The teenager decided we should take Dog to Sanders Reserve..they both seem to like it there! GZ surrounds is by far the dogs favorite place, barking at anything that looked like a stick until we threw it. I had a quick look for this one at a past visit, but better luck this time. GPS not too good in this area..but as someone taught me about caching "Read the description!! " Very clever! Thanks

having a nice walk around Sanders reserve, quite a decent sized place with lots of hidey holes. Big cache was found among some crunchy critter remnants. nice camo..hmm I thought could this container be a new staple of the G2? Wink

Walking sanders reserve the a peaceful time..during the weekday. I had heard this area around Gz was nice, once again big wow. I've not seen a beach layout like this before, it's stunning and very different. Be back for a late afternoon picnic I think..and for a nice summer swim perhaps. I had a bit of a search for this one, and found cache in good order Thanks!

Found indeed under the described place all safe and sound. Rain was still holding off and all was peaceful apart from someone attacking their stack of firewood..nice GZ, seem to have these growing at random in my garden at the moment Smile

Oh this title sounded interesting, have to check it out. I thought there was going to be a big long hunt but it was spied fairly easily. when i picked it up it was a bit odd, didnt look like it actually was. signed and put it away home. after walking away it came to me...ahh i get the cache name lol..bit slow today Wink

was drizzling a little..walk was going nicely in the peace and quiet of this nice Reserve. Found the cache pretty easily..a little worn but ok. took in the nice outlook with the "platform to fun" in the river..with a big "dont jump off" sign on it. yeah right good luck with that in summer! Smile thanks

Last one for the day...curfew coming. enjoyed the lovely walk and still a few more caches to explore next time. approached GZ and didnt see any of the suspects around, until a random sighting of a well formed possibility..and there it was trying to get away but it got cornered. Thanks great few hours be back for more!

Well this was an interesting one. Hanging out as sanders reserve, caching and having a nice walk. This one looked like it could be elusive and it didn't fail to disappoint . It was pretty well grown up at GZ surrounds. GPS was not alot of help, was just about to give up then a clue came to light! Hmm wonder if that could be...and there it was!! Very cunning and took some patience, but enjoyed it! Thanks Smile

Teenager, Dog and I were having a nice visit at this lovely reserve
Didn't see another soul today. I had been told this cache was in a pretty cool area..it didn't fail to amaze! That's exactly what caching is about for me, getting wow from going new place
Thanks found ok! A fave for me

Last cache for the day..on my nice late afternoon stroll in Goldies. It was 7pm and most of the people had gone home. Nice light and bird song. I like gz surrounds, very pretty spot. Part of gz is looking pretty dead though, but cache is still hidden ok at the moment. Log book was very damp so I put some log paper in the plastic bag. Should do for now maybe log book will dry out with summer coming! Thanks

Such a nice day outside I couldnt stay inside..went for a late afternoon walk in goldies bush. Arrived at gz and had a look around until i found 'the one' with the cache snugly intact. It does have a hole in the bottom though, but has managed to stay dry. lovely birdsong around this afternoon. Thanks!

Having a late afternoon walk in goldies enjoying the sunshine. I came across Gz and was impressed by some specimans that didnt hold the cache. Found the right one..a nice place to sit and contemplate nature Smile no tb inside..thanks for the cache

Oh this was the hardest for the day. I didnt find it on the way to the falls, but had a look on the way back. Just about the call it a day (as it was almost night lol) and I tried one last speciman. And hey presto..thank goodness! A lovely walk today with perfect weather. Thanks!

Was having a nice late afternoon wander in goldies bush. Weather was fine and birds were singing. Found gz and cache ok. Almost out of log so i put somemore paper inside. Not waterproof paper though. Thanks!

Was dying to get outside in this lovely weather..so went for a late afternoon wander in goldies bush. I went a bit further than I intended 10km and 6 caches later lol. This was the furtherest I went along the stream track..but I wanted to keep going! Have to come back again. Hint was good as GPS wasn't..cache all intact. Was a nice peaceful stop with no one around. Thanks!

Wow what a fantastic island this is. All the volunteers do such a amazing job. We saw every rare bird we could have hoped to see. The arches was an incredible lunch spot..explore don't walk past as it goes a little further than you see at first. It was so busy today spotting birds only had time for one cache. Going back next year for sure Smile thanks for the cache and your work to get it put in place

So I had a bit of free time between meetings and was looking for a "walk n cache" Its a little limited around this area as I have been most places...but I found this nice park thanks to caches! I couldnt decide which was to approach as the GPS was not being faithful..but I soon saw where to go. Cache all intact..thanks!

So I had a bit of free time between meetings and was looking for a "walk n cache" Its a little limited around this area as I have been most places...but I found this nice park thanks to caches! I arrived at GZ and had a wee hunt around. No muggles here today..on wheels or not..love exploring these places in the weekday! it had me going for a little until i thought about it..and hey presto there it was. I didnt get run over in retrieval.. i only had 2 legs not 2 legs and 2 wheels.. thanks as always a nice hide

Very interesting write up..and photos Smile the last cache for the day in my park and explore break..had to get back to work. There is always a first time for everything in caching, today I got muggled by a 3 legged overly nosey cat. It was so cute i had to take a photo. It was very interested in the cache and scowled at a runner that went past and attempted to muggle us. I wonder if this is the "hole in the wall cat?" with 3 legs and all it sounds kind of cool...thanks, much fun was had a fave for me for the experience

So I had a bit of free time between meetings and was looking for a "walk n cache" Its a little limited around this area as I have been most places...but I found this nice park thanks to caches! I arrived and the area was remarkably muggle free (11am on a thursday) Arrived at GZ and my gps was telling me big lies...Hmm I said there must be one of those there..then something said "come hither" and there it was, beckoning me to open the lid....Wink thanks nice job!
