Very pleasent morning - perfect weather.
Parked & walked the track to cache site - quite a busy spot & a great place for a picnic.

Didn't have any problems finding the cache (a bit of preparation helped).

Took a photo of fellow cachers with disposable camera & left it in the cache (with a note on it for others to do the same)

+ set of cufflinks in a presentation case.

Will return to the track to walk the full distance in the near future.

Took a while to find the little critter.

Cache was discovered 8.5 metres away from supplied co-ordinates. (S40 50.862 E175 14.019)

Visited this site with some expectation that it may no longer exist. Quickly found the general location - large patch of trampled scrub. Spent 30 mins searching - good sat fix. Just about to give up, when cache was finally discovered. Located about 3 metres closer to lake than co-ordinates show. Try S44 39.223 E168 59.246

Set off at noon for the trip to the hills.

Took 3 attempts to find correct path to access cache area. Nice walk up a (steep) hill, and along a forest path. Once there had to battle to gain access to clearing where cache was located.

Spent an hour scouring the area within 10m or more radius of location. Had good sat position, but searched all around scrub and bush without success. All told we were out for 3 hours.

Our first failure - but we'll be back !!

Found it reasonably quickly - accurate fix.

Took small file & left CD storage case.

Found the cache after about 15 minutes - (good teamwork).

Added Solistice Traveller Travel Bug looking to get home to Alaska. 

Thanks for the climb - and the view - well worth the workout.

Left Darryn a challenge - locked combination padlock (never used - but don't know combination). Also left a tennis ball and Swiss flags - from Makara cache. Took calculator (for kids to work out bearings and distance).

Good to see that fellow firefighters have wider interests - Cheers !

We found it !

Last recorded find was 28/10/02. Decided not to drop of traveller (collected 2 days ago further north) - might be a long time getting home to Alaska.

Team of 8 out searching. Found the cache after 15 minutes - well hidden in challenging location !

Beautiful New Year Eve view over Makara and the coastline.

Cache contents in good condition.

Took tennis ball - left a pair of small china Dutch clogs. 

Our second cache !

Hot calm Kapiti Coast afternoon.

Not too hard to find (our 7 yr old discovered the cache). Some of the tall grass in the area had been trampled down - which may have helped to guide him to the spot.

Took Spot the dog (will send him on his way next time), and left Buzz Lightyear toy.

Think we'll set up a couple of caches in the area soon too !

Spent quite some time searching - then went back to basics.

Took travel bug (304038) and left 1,000,000 lire note.

Wonderful walk on a beautiful day.
