Target #40 - Carousel
This one is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA at Pullen Park near the campus of North Carolina State University. This Dentzel 1911 model carousel has 52 hand-carved, painted animals and 2 chariots. Music is provided by a 1924 Wurlitzer Model 125 organ.
Edit - Changed from a "find" to a "note". Had checked this one using the locationless proximty analyzer on Sunday and saw that no one had claimed this...was out of town on Monday and Tuesday and had made plans to take the pictures on the way to work this AM....neglected to check the proximity analyzer again (or email for a log post) before posting a "find" ...guess what...got a note from local cacher wimseyguy to let me know that he beat me to the cache by a couple days.
BooHoo....

This dam is for Lake Raleigh (located in Raleigh, NC, USA) which served as Raleigh's main water source (along with an upstream impoundment Lake Johnson) until 1927 at wich time the water supply moved south one watershed to the Lake Wheeler/Lake Benson combination on Swift Creek. The dam and lake were originally owned by the Dorethea Dix Hospital until North Carolina State University acquired it in 1984 with the Centennial Campus land grant. The original dam was breached during Hurricane Fran and the pictured dam was rebuilt and the lake re-impounded. The water surface elevation on the lake is elevation 280+/-.
