Logs for kettle

08-Jan-05
Oh! Dear! I ran onto the middle of the rode to get in the middle of the camera and.....

Just fooling around

02-Jan-05
Arr! The first cache for the year!
Clue lead us straight to it!
Luckily no muggles around.
Chased away by the cloud of mossies!
Take your insectide and have a good caching!

01-Jan-05
On our bikes in the city.
Silly us even thinking of trying to find a cache in southbank on a holiday weekend! So many muggles that I needed a brush cutter! Did two 'ride bys', checked out two places with no success and then rode on.

[B)][B)][B)][B)]
OH, dear. After jumping around a small patch of bush for about half an hour I felt that I was following my tail. Looked under the stumps, a small cliff, a fallen trunk, leaf litter and rocks; but sadly no luck... hmmm... will think again.
So, decided to explore the cave as a reward for the trip. Yeah, nice cave!

Oh, silly me. I just realised that I printed out the cache notes a long while ago, leaving them in the glovebox for the day when I could escape and go 'caching'. Silly me, as the print out was very old it seems.
Oh, well.... nice hole. Big Grin

Surprised[:(!]Surprised[:(!]Surprised[:(!]Surprised[:(!]
Oh, No!
I think that the possums have taken off with the cache!
I found a hole and 'remains' of the cache, I think.
I went to the location, even noticed a lite track to the location, but no cache.
Looked around and concluded that either someone has made a elaborate decoy, the cache has gone or I'd gone mad.

Hurray!
Having spent the day not finding caches I was beginning to think that I had either lost the skill or the metal birds where playing tricks.
It was with great happiness that I found such a wonderful cache, yet having seen so many "Closed for revegetation" signs erected over paths I did feel slightly guilty.
A nice cache for a temporary home for "Banjo" TB.
Left: A good baseball that I found on the oval when I walked from the car park; a fan that I rescued from the trashed "Rockfactory" cache; and a brass cat medalion.
Poogle Yes! And guided by a cache guardian!

Hurray!
Having not found two previous caches in the morning.
I was happy to find this cache, except that it was trashed.
Seems like perhaps one of the numerous kids that use this patch of bush for a playground may have found it and taken the ammo box leaving the contents around the rock it was under.
Sad really. Sadder that the log book had a note written over a few pages to the effect, "That you people for leaving this pad to wipe my ass."
Anyhow, it need fixing, I left the remains in a log bag and replaced the pen that had been broken over the log book.
It was a lovely place and a great location to visit. The views are worth the walk, so I hope that this cache will be fixed and perhaps located somewhere else.

Oh, Dear.
First cache for the day. First cache in a few months as I have been busy; and no luck.
Sat at the first location, scratching me head, walking around looking at everything. Behind the sign, in the dirt, on the trees, on the poles, in the cracks... just no cigar.
Sadly moved on, after thinking that I had spent too much time standing around looking silly to muggles.

10-Mar-04
Visited the cache to see what a geocoin is and take the dog for a walk (travel bug)... a few trees down over the path since the last storm...

Was picking up a friend from the airport and thought that it was near by... a bit of backroad driving in industrial estates... gee there are some big buildings around here... found the cache... and a canoe launch. Great!... [thinking about a new cache near the airport called 'Travel Bug Departure Lounge] and thought firstto checkout surrounding caches...
Left: geocoin that has come from Mt.Cootha.
Took: Brass cat.
Bango (the traveling bug) helped me sniff it out...
cache in good condition. Actually, it was quite a nice day.

09-Mar-04
Revisted the cache as I wanted to double check the the focus travel bug was in it or not.

I definitely couldn't find the travel bug...

Anybody???

01-Mar-04
O.k. SO I have placed it very conveniently for anybody taking to the sky.
It is obvious that the best parking spot is near an old kite. Wink
Dropped off 'Coop the pig' travel bug to play with the other farm animals for a time.
Actually, I was thinking of putting a "travel bug departure lounge Cache" near here... lets see how this position fares.
The cache is in good condition.

Returning from the airport, ducked in to retrieve the code to continue the 'Looking'.
Read the clue on the previous logs about 'being obvious'... well, there isn't much at the site really now is there... except a brilliant view that I must see at night, as I found this cache during the day. very nice spot.

25-Feb-04
O.K.
Considering it hasn't been touched for near a year I thought that I would move it again.
The original thought was that if somebody was driving down to Sydney via the back road that they would go straight past it.
BUt, who drives now that there are $29 virgin flights...
So, I will relocate it in the next few days near the airport...

16-Feb-04
Thought that I would go Bug hunting... and kill off these caches from my list of To-Dos while i was at it...
Entered the park from a Kenmore back street, as I got the turns wrong.
Was on my bike and actually fell off it on one of the steep hills, which made me a little sad... but the path ended in an intersection that was in the middle of 'useful' and 'middle' caches...
Found the cache O.K. The trees where a little menacing with the metal bird calls...
Adbucted 'Coop'; my first Bug!
Had nothing to swap.
Great design for a cache container.
Was that hand-made from the plumbing supplies?

A pleasant day..
Thought that i could get to it from the kenmore backhills; should have gone the road direct there. But found an entry to the park that was near 'middle'.

HEY! I couldn't find the 'Focus' Travel Bug!
Could be a case of domestic blindness, but I looked twice through the cache.

OH! Thanks for the snake surprise! Silly me fell for it for a few hurried heart beats.

Seems like part of the park may receive a face-left as there where surveyors pegs everywhere...

Didn't have anything useful to leave.

10-Feb-04
Hmm... Up in the area. Did the "Cool Water" yesterday. Ventured across town to do this cache.
Had to laugh when we found the first location.
"So, there is a cache here now too!" was our response.
Been up there before as the view is great, never knew about the dinos below. Quite an interesting exploration. With all the history around Ipswich I can see that this place being a magnetic for the 'historic multi-cache lesson experince'. Actually there is another huge park just begging for a cache. Limestone anyone?

Finally found the cache! That clue is pathetic (in the most humourously, sarcastic way). "guerr fznyy gerrf" my arse! I'm standing in the final location and the clue says, "guerr fznyy gerrf!" Very funny H&S!

When I get more time I will explore the 'mines'... pity i didn't have enough time. The lagoon is very picturesque.

Took: Glow in dark 'dino' for "eerie" cache. Left: colour pencil set.

08-Feb-04
O.k. I admit. I knew the second location well and jumped into the cache hunt half-way. Whilst I have canoed and swam at the location I have never visited the multi-cache spot. Very interesting..

After winding a path through the street of 'who knows where' we arrived at the final location. A very nice place and another canoe launch that I didn't know of. Thanks.

Hey! How many M.trees are there. What a trick. There I was looking around under a M.tree that I was convinced of, pondering the erosion from the recent rains, and beginning to think "perhaps it got washed away" when my partner says, "There is another over hear." And there you go.

Our first Ammo Box. What a thrill.

I wouldn't say that the last location is swimmable, having visited the preferred spots first. Actually it is a surprise that the river changes so much between the locations.

Left: Magnetic frame. Obtained: Disguise kit (needed for a photo comic).

06-Feb-04
SO! We finally collected all the numbers, worked out the maths, launched the satellite out of its hidden silo and locked onto the final cache destination!
Noting that we had to pass the strip shops again we grabbed some t/a lunch and reached the co-ords.
Imagine our disappointment when we found it TOTALLY WATERLOGGED and growing a beautiful, bright, green SLIME. Seems like the top handle recess would collect water and feed it through the handle holes in the lid top... that or the koalas have taken to using it as a toilet, as it stunk.
Oh, well... layed out the contents, had our lunch and put all the really damaged stuff with our garbage. Wiped out the cache container with our napkins and returned the cache to its home.
The log book and note is are stuffed [perhaps need a good dry to retain that aged look]. Most of the contents where stuffed too; however we left a box of coloured chalk in a plastic bag.
Otherwise, great hunt! Forgot the Uncle Jim was Lord for so long. Loved no.7, one of the best examples I've seen. Oh, the modern miracle of 'the frig'. Imagine what Oxley would say now, probably wouldn't make it to the spot before the water police nab him... Pity the tennis centre was demolished as there used to be a beautiful old water fountain in the front garden that would have fitted in well. (Remember Stephan's Big Tennis Raquet ).

05-Feb-04
I can't believe how close I was on my previous attempts. I felt like ringing everyone and screaming, "I found the b*@#$ thing!"
Very sneaky, yet i found some other places that made me think of some great locations for a cache.
I have happily doubled my cache count from last years poor effort. Slowly on my way to the century.
Actually, it is caches like this that make me think that I am in errorist training. Acting like I am doing something else, not trying to look suspicious when i fondle a garbage bin, innocently finding and replacing the cache without anybody getting interested in my behaviour. All very handy skills for a errorist (the 't' was removed to avoid CIA search engines).

04-Feb-04
Ummm... Found all but number 2.
But I think that the sign that has the details has gone missing.?
I went back and photographed where I think it should have been.
Am I off? or are my suspicions correct?

01-Feb-04
Arr... having looked at the photos I had a fair idea where I was headed. So, it was a surprised that I initially missed the location due to poorly entered reference numbers. You'd think that I would know better. You should have seen my face when I arrived at the wrong location to find myself in a quiet suburban street.

Anyhow, after correcting the co-ords I finally found the place that I thought it would be. From the outset I knew about 4 of the pictures and pondered on the difficultly of this virtual cache. Low and behold when I was eliminating the photographs the trick is in the similiarities and differences...

One thing I must say, whilst I have driven past this location many time I have never stopped and sat.... well now I stopped and stared... and didn't feel silly trying to find this cache.

I have emailed my observations...

29-Jan-04
I enjoyed the Toohey's Forest when going to the "Looking about" cache and since my current job is only 3km from here i thought I'd do this cache.
I forgot my digital camera, but as things turned out I had to wait to explore the specific area so I drew a little comic.
The cache is in good condition, found it no troubles. Laughed when I read of the Logs by the accidental visitor thinking that they had found a 'weed' stash!
Deposited a set of eyes and nose from a craft market I went to, they are used for making bear toys. Thought that someone could use them to fix a bear in need as it was the forest. Received the rose insense.

Persistance pays off!
I had an idea that this cache would be the park at the end of Coronation Drive, but was surprised when it wasn't.
You're right a very peaceful park. A strange concrete stairs at the end of the park, must be for boat boarding?
Anyhow, I met the Cache lizard and should have followed him/her as retrospectively it was leading me closer to the cache than I was guessing.
Almost gave up. I had throught that the clue referred to the most obvious thing. Finally I sat down and read the other logs to find another clue (thanks SteveGriffin). I had for a quick moment that it had been a time since last this was logged and perhaps it was gone.
Sucess rewarded me. You can't beat that joy of finding it. The persistance of half an hour (can you believe it, oh dear..)
Left a Penny that I traded at a "Looking" cache and retrieved the $1 (it's poor week this week).
Otherwise, the cache is in good order with ample room.

27-Jan-04
Your right! This is actually a quiet location. I wonder why? Perhaps it because it has stairs?

A wonderful piece of history, I worked on a film a few years ago that included historic footage of this bridge... never knew about the boy though...

4 looks now... I watched a movie the other night about a couple that had to find a secret box in a church, but had to work out this ancient clue that had all the churches layed out in a pentagram across Europe. I though I better check "Looking" incase the last cache takes me me to a Black Mass

26-Jan-04
Today I considered how I am trapped in the western suburbs. I journeyed to this cache considering that whilst it is only 9 km from my home i have never visited this area. Sure I have driven near the area but never explored it. Arr... one of the simple pleasures of geocaching! As we all know I suppose.

Hey, if you can don't decypt the clue to quickly. It is quite funny searching around in the bush presuming the 'bush' hiding holes and then finding it.

Oh, I took the penny and left a small sample bottle of 'eternity' mens fragrence for all the male caches that sweat all the way. Consider just refreshing with it, not taking it. Wink

Cheers,
Kettle.
Slowly making my way through the "looking" cache.

25-Jan-04
Happy Australia Day!
I had the choice of going to the march or going for a walk with a friend to find a cache. Happily he chose the later.
Found the cache easily enough. Has there been a bush fire recently, as the under-canopy is very thin?
Swapped wine knife (for anybody within the vacinity that is picnicing and has forgotten theirs) and abducted the beheaded Big Bird.
My friend, Michael I. was most impressed with the absurdity of the action and exchange (It was his first Geocaching experience).
Ended the trip having coffee at you know where.
Since all the rain in Brisbane the cache was a little humid, but only a little.
Very pleasant trip, thanks.
Kettle.

24-Jan-04
This fuels my suspicion that every park in Brisbane will soon have a cache.
I can imagine the time when I talk to my wearable, personal computer and ask it, "hey, is there a cache in this park that I am walking past?"
for it to reply, "Of course andrew... i is just 5m to the right. Look for a survey market."
Have visited this park a few times last year and am glad that it now contains a virtual cache.
Great idea using the survey marker... makes me think...

21-Jan-04
Arr... my first for 2004!
The clue helped. I'm glad I haven't lost my 'think like a geocacher' nerve.
Oh, how the place has changed since 28th January, 1862. And to think that they first lived in a tent, I'd imagine that if anybody tried to live in a tent there now that they would be taken away by the council.
A lovely spot, tall trees, local history.
Cache in good condition. Cover has come off booklet.
Thanks. Kettle

21-Sep-03
Noticed that this cache hasn't moved for over 6 months. should i move it again then?

Hey, Leek what is the 'word' associated with this cache?

Luckily, I was going to attempt this cache next week.. keep us posted if you get it moved...

Pitty about the open conflict... is this a preamble to a war between Qld and NSW cachers?

Thanks for the challenge... is 3 stars enough...

Hey Tony, do you think that security is onto us... or do you think that there could be another attempt made at it?

Any clues as where not to look?

Cheers,
KETTLE

A-ha! My first Leek cache!
Nice location. never knew cemetry existed. One of the joys of caching.
Took some photos.. will upload.
So, went for a country drive and deposited it 110km closer to Lane Cove!
This Cache has left Brisbane!
Added a few new companions: a black bull, a yellow dinosaur, a gnobe, and lion.
My first stash.
It's sneaky.. not being allowed to bury it.
Hey.. BTW this is the much nicer back road to sydney!

Twisted oh, boy. Couldn't find it. My GPS was indicating that it was in the middle of a garden bed. But looking at Team Manta's photo below I think I was on the ride side of the path. Twisted So I have uploaded by track for some amusement. Twisted I'll try again soon.

The final cache for the day. My first virual one. On bicycle so couldn't complete further questions.
ACtually, always take visitor to this site for the views and to explain the city. This cache will add to the stories. Quite an enjoyable end to what was a heavy route:
microjelly, homer, inner and here.
I didn't realise how many touristy signs there where... hey, those old brisbane postcards are neat.

10-Jan-03
Arr Ha!
Enjoyed the ride up the hillon my bike!
The Route:
Microjelly -> Homer -> Inner Brisbane -> Ku-ta
Sent new speed record on my odometer: 75km/h down hill.
Well worth riding to this cache.
If Geocaching is a sport then we should get fit right?
Anyhow, Not a problem finding is. Actually made me think that caches should have a life that is shorter than the path that gives them away.
But, was great to read the log: international and interstate logs!
Photo no. #9.
GPS used: Garmin ETrax Legend.
What is the red heart for?
Abducted: fish. Abandoned: feng-shi candle. [^]

Twisted climbed hill.
Razz found cache easy enough.
Wink those subtle tracks in the dirt.
[:(!] some log comments quite negative.
[^] abducted: feng-shi candle (now in Inner).
[:X] abandoned: insence sticky for the next hippie.

[8)] met girl waiting to score drugs, she asked me if I had what she was looking for. Is that a GPS in your hand, or are you just glad to find my geocache?
[B)] Don't look at photo at the bottom of these logs, it almost gives it away!
Twisted My big hands almost couldn't fit.

Hurray! My first Cache found.
A lovely afternoon, the sky spotted with a few clouds. A pleasant spot well equiped. Wink
After dancing around a bit, the spot actually looked undisturbed, however I knew that a recent cacher had been around...
Will add to my bike riding route.
Good work team!
