I came here at just the right time, with the sun in the south-west shining on the granite and the phenocrysts gleaming in the light! Just beautiful, and exactly the sort of thing urban earthcaching is wonderful at drawing your attention to. I enjoyed looking all over this for the biggest phenocryst I could find, and have since messaged all my answers. Thank you Nick!

I looked at a lot of granite during today's urban earthcaching afternoon, but this was definitely the most interesting. I must've walked past here dozens of times over the years, but had never before noticed how unusual - and how striking to look at - the formation of this particular stone is. Answers all sent to the CO, and thank you!

Even though this was a fairly busy spot, you can't really be muggled when looking for an Earthcache, so I took my time looking over the granite and then happily got my tape measure out to size up the large mica crystals, while presumably bemused passers-by... passed by.

Answers messaged to the CO. Thank you for another interesting urban earthcache!

My seventh urban earthcache of the afternoon, and just when you think you've seen all the unusual features that Leeds' granite has to offer, along comes something different! I'm not sure I've ever seen flow banding in granite before, so this was fascinating to see up close and learn about. Answers all sent - thank you!

Again, learning something new! I've probably seen such rings a hundred times before, but have never really paid attention to them before or appreciated what they are. Answers all messaged, and thanks for another interesting earthcache.

I used to visit the Corn Exchange regularly 20 years ago when I was student in Leeds. I really miss all the cool shops that used to be there like Grin and Hippy Potter Mouse, but at least my favourite - the wonderful Travelling Man - is still flourishing nearby.

It's still a pleasure though to visit this fantastic building, and with geocaching you're always learning something new; I'd never before realised how the ceiling was designed to give even daylight - rather than direct sunlight - all year round; so ingenious!

Anyway, stonework all inspected and answers since messaged to the CO who's given me the thumbs up. Many thanks for creating this excellent earthcache. Smile

I wouldn't have guessed what a journey this memorial has been on, in several different ways, but it stands in overall fine dignified condition today and I particularly loved the striking bronze statues.

I took some time to look all over it whilst deciding on my answers, which I've since messaged to the CO. Many thanks for creating this excellent earthcache.

I could see various unknown fossil traces in the limestone, but finally spotted what looked like bivalves right where a group were sitting, drinking coffee and smoking! Typical.

Coming back later in the evening when the cafe had closed, I was able to have a good close look, take photos and measurements, and I've since sent my answers to the CO. Thanks again for creating these good urban earthcaches.

These are two really good examples of this kind of interesting fossil, which I've previously seen down in Portland stone buildings in that London. I photographed and measured them both, and have messaged my answers to the CO. Many thanks for finding these and creating the cache!
