Logs for Agent Hambo

02-Feb-09
2nd go at this one. 2nd time lucky. Decided to hunt for it closer to dusk. Not that it was a hot day anyway, there was less heat from the sun, aswell as the muggles.

Went to find this on on the 1st, but got near GZ and seen a billion ants all over the place. I personally hate ants.

So today I went back expecting ants, and there wasn't many. Maybe cause it was cooler? I don't know. But took me 50 minutes to find this one.

Kidding. Nice hide.

I hate ants still.

01-Feb-09
Finally found it on my third attempt!!!

Not sure why I missed it the first 2 times, but I think cause this time it had less camo on it? I don't know. What I do know is that I can add this to my list of finds.

Oh and its still hot out there. Sad

This was a chance find. GPS had GZ about 5 meter away from the true GZ, and as I was backtracking to get a better line of attack to where my GPS thought it was, I noticed something odd.

On closer inspection, I found out it was the cache. So lucky, as I probably would have spent 15 minutes in the hot sun looking in the wrong location.

Awsome camo!

Another cache for the day, and my last find. Had 3 more after this one, but ended up looking for Flanders again, with no luck. But that story is for another cache.

Found this one within seconds, and I was off again.

Note to self, bring water.

2nd look, but gave up. I under stand the hint, but can't see what it refers to here. So with that being said, it will be like a slap in the face when I find it. Assuming its still here of course.

2nd go at this one, and again I fail to find it. Thought that having someone else find it after me is a good sign. But no.

2/4 find of the day for me, not bad. Especially with one being a double find. Spent another 20min here befoe moving on. Sad

No need for the gps on this one. I had the cache in hand within a minute and had it back just as quick. Probably didn't help by reading the logs before hand, as the gps was off by atleast 5m, and walking back and fourth would have been fun!

Great hide all the same!

Damn! Im on a roll today! Less than 5 minutes from parking my car to driving off.

"3rd" cache of 13 for the day "2nd" find!

Thinking back, I probably looke right at this cache and not see it for what it is. Homer already fooled me with Moe, and now after finding another near by cache, I think this is the same. But not sure.

Again, GPSr had me all over and I ended up spending 20 minutes on this one before deciding to go to the next one. Took a photo to look at for some clues later.

2nd go of this one, and to my surprise, had it in hand within 5 minutes. This was a very well camoed cache.

Swapped something, I can't remember, but I was on a roll, and also on a high!

TFTC!

You little devil you!

GZ was off by atleast 10 meters, and I was looking for a different kind of camo to what I found.

All I can say is OMG! Finding this one made me feel good again.

TFTC

First of 13 to look for today, also 1st DNF for the day too.

Thinking back, I may have picked the cache up, but I am not 100% sure. Spend 20 minutes on this one before the heat got to me.

I think I drove past jyetara and squalid at this one yesterday afternoon as I was coming back from The Moe Syzlack Experience! Either way, I knew where to stop for this one with out looking at the GPSr and within a minute I had the cache in hand and I could kick myself. I had logged a DNF of a similar cache that I had in my had that I did not open.

Homer, another awesome cache, and awesome camo.

I could kick myself.

I had picked the cache up the other day only to to put it down.

You sir, are a trickster of the highest order, and just as I get to know your style, BAM, I come across this.

I feel like a stupid head.

TFTC and I bid you a good day.

Not sure if my GPS was giving me the run around, but I eventually had to give up on this, not just cause I wouldn't find it, but for all the muggles that kept driving past every couple of minutes. Sad

Found it in GC1HYT5. Thank for saving the cache! Im sure Nasi G will be happy to bunk with Woody till Matt comes and picks him up.

WOW! This was a 2 for 1 deal! 2nd cache of the day, and first find with bonus. THe disturbed grass tracks from people making this a drive by helped me on to the right track, but a real easy find.

Signed both logs.

Shut up Flanders!

5th cache to find today, 4th DNF. Damn Homer can really hide his caches. Just went through all the logs, and am glad I was on the right side of the fence.

Seen the hole, got excited, empty, but knew Homer would never hide anything in such a obvious place.

Spent 15min searching before some old muggles came along and started making out in their car. Young love... ewwww.

Will have to add this one to my "Find another day" pile.

3rd Homerjay cache for the day, 2nd DNF. I don't know if its me, my GPSr or the Camo that HJ uses to hide his caches. Sure its a micro. I couldn't for the life of me find it.

Maybe some help is needed for this one too. Sad

I will probably kick myself too.

Ok, tried to find this one today. Less muggles around, so was able to get on my hands and knees. I have a fairly good idea where this could be, but again, no luck.

GPSr had me in the middle of the road this time, but I knew i couldn't be there. Maybe some help might be in order so that I can bridge the gap.

Had a list of 8 caches to find today, a few were from the other day. This one was the first hit, not sure if the Co-ords were correct, but eventually found the spot.

Nice hide, and as for the hard rubbish. Couldn't the idiots use the builders skips? Atleast it will end up at the tip, and not where it is.

Oh and I left a TB to be found too!

6th cache for the day, 5th DNF.

Noted that there has been plenty of traffic in the area as this could be a drive-by cache. Yet its camo must be really good.

Another cache to watch and add to my "Find another day" list, or to add the the "Ask for help" one.

Alas, this one was making me "go crazy". I just couldn't find it. I know how well HJ can do camo on his caches, and I do have to say, they look amazing. But this one the the 4th of the day, and 3rd DNF. The GPSr had me between the road and where I thought it would be.

On the bright side, there wasn't any dust or wind to contend with today, however the flies were making me "go crazy" too.

Another one where I will need some help with. Sad

Slowly I make my way to Moe's for some Duff Beer, but I stop on the way to pet Santa's Little Helper.

7th cache of the day, and 2nd find. I was starting to think my whole outing was a bust. Glad it wasn't

spent 10min looking for this one as GPSr had me in a pittiful spot, and was I feeling stumped. I was about to call this one as another DNF when I finally found it, about 5m from GZ.

My last cache of the day. The cache I had been slowly caching to. Sadly I got to the end of my trip only to find that Moe has hidden his bar from me. Sad

Read the logs and read the clue, but for the life of me, just couldn't work out how people could see this from their cars.

Knowing Homer's camo jobs, this one will kick me in my butt when I finally find it when I add more caches to my Journey to find the Moe Sizlack Experience.

22-Jan-09
I don't know if it was because of a bad GPS signal or what, but one second my GPSr had me on "GZ" the next I was off by 10m. I Eventually worked out where it could have been, then a sales rep for drove up and parked not far from me. Was my call to make like a tree.

Nice little area, been here before, but didn't expect a cache to be hidden here. Nice camo job too.

Parked for about 10 minutes while a Parks Victoria ranger was here doing something. When he left, it was hunting time.

Didn't take long to find. Well hid though.

Left "Climb Every Mountain Geocoin" - Well it is a nice climb from the bottom...

Took "King of the Road" Travel bug

I don't know if the wind was blowing the Satellites about in space, but it was really hard getting a lock on this on, despite the fact that its a camo-micro.

The GPS had me in a very different area as GZ and I was looking at what would have been the most obvious area. Just as I was about to give up, I tried looking in a area that wouldn't have been obvious to me, as its isn't really out there in plain sight, but I found it.

Nice hide.

Another DNF for the day. Not for the lack of trying, oh no. Because of all the damn flies and the wind. OH GOD the wind today is horrible. Dust, flies and the wind. Bad combo. I will try this cache another day. One with less wind. And flies

20-Jan-09
Havn't look for this yet, but I have to say that I love the name of the Cache, and I HAVE to visit this one. I have a week off work, so I might just visit ALL of HJ's caches! This one is a stand out for me.

18-Jan-09
What a great hike this was. In the spirit of the Bushwhacking Geocoin that I dropped off in the Cache, I really did take the shortest path possible.

I parked at the Kellaway St entrance and began my hike, and when I finally got to the "right" path, it encountered a choice. Take the one that heads straight for the cache? or the one that heads away?

You can guess what one I took. At one stage I was climbing through bushland to get to the cache, and when I did, I noticed I could have taken the other path. Would have been so much easier, but where is the fun in that?

Great cache, left coin, took DNR coin.

Found this one, however I couldn't sign the log as I didn't bring a pen. Not sure if there was ment to be on in the cache and someone took it as a swap. Atleast I can do a virtual sign.

Even if I did find this, I wouldn't have been able to sign the log... no pen.

However, the reason I couldn't find this is not because its gone missing, but because the Muggle traffic was high in the area. Lunch time is probably the wrong time to visit this one.

16-Jan-09
3rd cache of the day, 2nd to sign. Note to self, bring pen.

Just a short climb from another cache, this one was a easy find. Mr Mini Robosapian was tired of my company and wanted to look at the Jets taking off, so I took the Bushwhacking Geocoin for a trip to Melbourne, but then read its Mission.

Looks like I will be looking for another Cache near by! Big Grin

If I had come up from Melbourne just to find this cache and sign the log, then boy did I waste my time. Lucky that there are other caches near by and that I had people to visit in Canberra anyway.

Long story short, found the cache, but had no pen on hand to sign the log.

Muggle factor was low, but by the time I worked out that the cache is not at GZ (probably was once upon a time), I finally found it, but took a while to get due to a lone muggle going up to the becon.

Opened cache, admired log, wished to sign it, closed it up, then replaced it.

Took a bunch of photos too!

While on Holiday again up in Canberra, I thought I would do some more caching, this time using the Geocache Navigator. Oh it makes things 90% better. If only it came with sunscreen.

With Navigator installed on my phone, I quickly found the cache in no time. I dropped off the England Geocoin and took Mr Mini Robosapian for a small trip.

For some reason this area made me nervous, and so did the cars that would normally drive at 80 along this 60 zone.

I guess parking your car at the side of the road for this one might not be a good idea, but pretending to be on the mobile helped.

Between the gaps in the traffic, I eventually found the cache, pretty well hidden. Good Job!

Dropped off Travelbug, took geocoin.

19-Mar-08
Found this one after about 30 minutes tracking thru Mt Ainslie. It had been a while since I was in the area (moved to Melb a few years back), so I forgot about where the path goes.

Small spoiler here, the path is your best friend. No really, it is.

Didn't see the geo coin in the cache. The only coin was a Miami Transit coin.

Just a quick note to say I picked Klif up from here. Just dropping it in here to help with the distance traveled.

I love this area! Found the cache in no time. Still it was very well hidden.

Was going to pick up the Car travel bug, but it wasn't there. However, I scored another one, which, would you guess, wasn't ment to be in the cache.

I wish people would mark that they have moved travel bugs.

Took Klif the Adventurous Ant,
Left mini gel pad.

Walked around for about 20 minutes in the searing sun, couldn't find it. So I scratched this one from my list of caches to find while in Canberra.

I also ended up with pretty bad sunburn. Remember to take sunscreen.

22-Feb-08
BINGO!

Found it today as I was driving home. It was 2:30, so there was no one around.

Took Gel wrist pad, left mini-post it notes. Signed log.

I swear I looked at the spot I found it before. Maybe Im going nuts.

17-Feb-08
You know, it kinda pays to look at the area where the cache is hidden via google earth or something like that. This one is no different. I was on my way home from my sisters place at 11pm, and thought that I might track this one down.

I loaded up the co-ords in my phone and drove in the direction of the cache as best I could. I got 20 meters of GZ before I gave up. Bush was to thick to walk thru in thongs, and where I parked would have roused alot of suspicion. Sad Oh well, better luck next time I guess.

3rd cache hunt today, 2nd find. Not bad for a beginner Smile

Like the one I did this morning just after midnight, this one to was done in the dark. However I had the home ground advantage as I knew the area well.

After 8pm gates to GZ are shut, mostly to keep the hoons out I guess. However I knew of a "back" way that ment I only had about 100 metres to walk.

Now Im not a fan of the software that comes with my phone. When I get 10 metres from the destination, the arrow vanashes and the screen displays "arrived". So I ended up walking back and forth to get a better idea of where it would be. In the dark, this isn't fun, good thing I had a torch.

5 minutes later, I found it, exactly where the clue said to look.

All in all, Im having fun, and can't wait for my next find. Took mini post-it notes, left pedometer.

TFTC!

My first cache hunt, and also my first cache to find. To think I have known about this sport since I first read about it all those years ago in a Silicon Chip mag. Only just been able to get into the sport with my Nokia N95.

Found this one just after midnight. Loved the hike, and loved the view. Can't wait to find my next cache.

TNLNSL.

Forgot to add... log book is full, had to use a page that had some room on it.

Didn't take long to get here, however, as it was late afternoon, there were a few muggles around, with several doing laps around the lake.

I had a look where I thought it would be, but didn't find it. I guess you can't find them all. I might check it another day, unless it is gone.
