Logs for Diabolik

21-Jan-05
Been a long, long time since I went Geocaching so when I got home tonight and I saw this one was so close I decided to go for a walk. 1.77 km crow but about 5.7 km walking there and back and looking about. Took an hour to walk there, find the cache, avoid the ants then walk back. The thing I took to leave there was too big so I took nothing.

Well, went back to this cache for the second time. Found all the clues then found the first cache. It was lying on the ground plundered. All that was left was the container and two bits of paper. I put the cache back to where I think it was supposed to go (?) so it was not too obvious. Went to the second cache and couldn't find that either! Hopefully I was looking in the right spot. There were geese nesting right by it and a big egg so I only had a sec before I was about to be attacked as mamma and poppa came back honking furiously. Definitely no cache there though.

Found this cache easily once I got to the park. Funny little place it is too. The cache was not hidden at all so I spotted it right away. I left a foldable frisbee and took nothing. I re-hid the cache so it is less easily seen by just anyone. I think the last few people to find it were non Geocachers!

Got a bit lost trying to drive there using a GPS road navigator which kept trying to route me to Exhibition Drive which IS NOT a public road! Got lost so I turned down a street off Scenic drive and found what I wanted. Nice walk indeed following the pipe through the bush. Met one of the small, fairy, forest folk who told me to turn at the giant tree. OK, it was probably just a short woman but she gave me good directions. Found the cache without much trouble. It is in good condition. Took nothing (except photos) since I forgot to bring anything. Had a great drive there and back along the windy roads in my old MGB-GT!

This is the closest cache to my house so I thought it was about time to go find it. Went alone so I had no navigator. Parked at the end of Gilletta place and had a wee walk along a path to get to the general area of the cache. Then I think I approached it from the worst possible direction. Beware of ditches covered in leaves, mud, biting things, cutty grass, brambles with thorns and falling over the cliff! Found the cache though and it is in good condition. Took the US dollar coin and left some silly putty and a plastic dart I found in the bush near the cache. Was going to the supermarket down the road after this one but I was too scratched up, dirty and suffering from hayfever badly. Very rewarding cache to find though.

Nice easy one this one! Took the little car (and returned it to its owner) and left a expandable alien in its place.

Nope, couldn't find this one. Found lots of broken beer bottles though. Couldn't get an accurate fix and if it is well hidden then it could be anywhere there. Might try again one day once I see someone else has found it so we know it is still there Smile

06-Jul-02
We picked a really wet day and walked through the mud alongside the motorway. Found the cache without any trouble apart from the unnecessary trip over the bridge trying to find the car park. Took the US$1 coin (for Rachel's coin collection) and we left a small alien that expands to 600% it's size when exposed to water. We are hoping the cache doesn't get wet Smile If you take him DON'T swallow him. Found a much less messy path to walk back to the carpark. Although we did get lost on the way!

This was our very first cache! We though we'd pick a nice easy one, close to home to start with and this worked perfectly. We found it without any trouble only the zuhe gongju thingy wasn't there! We called the cache owners phone number as mentioned in the log book just to say hello and after the shortest mobile phone conversation ever he came out to find us! He very nicely gave us another zuhe gongju to take away with us and we left a glo stick in the cache. Rach was positively skipping down the street as we left so all in all it was a very nice first Geocaching experience. Thanks Peter!
