Hah, the tried and true method of posting a DNF made it appear. Log to follow (I’m backlogged…)
No joy for me tonight. Pretty sure I’m looking in the right spot but clearly not well enough.
20-Feb-23
All exactly as it should be, no surprises since I just had a full report that is except for the pothole near gz that my foot sank into, sending me tumbling to the ground…
Been a while since anyone stopped by here. Cache is still in perfect shape and waiting for visitors!

16-Dec-22
Sounds like this one may have gone missing, after 12 years undisturbed in plain sight in a high muggle area. Will check it out next week.
18-Nov-22
Noticed while walking past that WP2 is missing. Will try to remember to bring a replacement when next in the area (which isn’t often these days.)
24-Sep-22
Bar's closed now. It had a good run. Thanks to all the patrons over the years.
29-Jul-22
Still unrepaired. I don't think this one will be likely to be back any time soon. Might be time to call last drinks shortly....
Sorry. I've not been in the city much lately. Will check this one out as soon as I can, I think it's still fenced off though...
24-Jun-22
Boardwalk is still messed up… nearby path has been fixed up so hopefully they will get to this bit soon…

Finally. That took way too long. Cache was quite well covered.
Thanks for the cache, Dfc_jlk2019.

No luck. Found something matching the hint and with it a possible disturbed and vacant hide……

Hi Ngaambul,
As per previous note -- the structure that this cache relied upon has been destroyed by the floods. As of a couple of days ago, at least, it still looks the same as in the last photo.
Council are currently working on restoring the boardwalk further downstream, I am waiting to see what they do with the area around GZ once that's complete....

Maintenance check. All good. Path to GZ is well overgrown but access from a little further East along the nearest major trail is much easier.
Maintenance check today with Palopinto. All is in great shape. The undergrowth has really sprung up around here and some of it is annoyingly scratchy, so long pants are definitely recommended!
10-Apr-22
Walking past this evening, decided to check in on Ducky. No ducks in sight, however the cache is right where it belongs!
17-Mar-22
Wandered past this cache on my lunchtime walk today and figured I’d check in on it after the flood.
The water must have been well over GZ, surely, yet the cache is right where it belongs, and nice and dry inside!
Alas the path to it from the waypoints is blocked off due to landslides at the moment…

Can confirm cache is exactly where it belongs.
Many thanks to 1MinnieMooJr for the recent container swap.

George’s house has not only flooded above the rooftop, but his foundations have washed away.
I happened to bump into the council employee responsible for the path and platform the other day. He hadn’t yet seen the state of the shelter, so I showed him a photo — response was “ I should probably go and check that out.”
Chances are that George won’t be rebuilding his home here anytime soon. I was going to archive the cache but given the age of it I’ve had one request to keep it disabled and wait to see what council does, so I will do so until the reviewers lose patience with me.

Aaaand it’s coming back home again for a while.
Water levels already rising and MBRC says “BoM Severe Weather Warning for INTENSE rainfall later tonight.”
GZ will no doubt be underwater for the next few days.

Cache was sitting completely in the open, I almost stood on it. Hid it back in a likely location. Will send the CO a photo of where I put it in case I guessed wrong.
Thanks for the cache, spiderwebbs4.

Sorry this one took so long. Back in place now and ready to find, George is getting lonely down here!
14-Jan-22
The cache has definitely been stolen. Someone sawed through the chain with a file (which was found nearby) and made off with the ammo tin. [v]
The puzzle is too hard, so visitors are rare.
The location is full of mozzies.
The hide is compromised.
The lock was always fiddly.
The unique contents, while not strictly necessary (although they added to the experience) are all but irreplaceable.
The special lock (which was a key aspect of the cache -- in fact it was the reason for the cache's creation) is getting more expensive and harder to source.
I almost archived this a couple of years ago, but was persuaded not to. It's now time.
Thanks to all who have found it over the years, thanks for all the FPs, and my apologies for anyone driven mad by the puzzle (or sucked dry by the mozzies!)

Sounds like this one has again deteriorated. Based on the fact that I almost archived it two years ago, was persuaded not to, and it only having two finds in that time until the last group who found it broken, I am very much inclined once again to archive it. Disabling till I can get out and see what it looks like, at least, but I don’t think I will be reviving it.

Find #2383 at 14:15 with BopsyGirl.
BopsyGirl suggested a rare daddy/daughter caching outing today, so of course I jumped at the chance. Rain and terrain got the better of us elsewhere, so we decided to pay a visit to the lovely Botanic Gardens, just walk around, and maybe grab a couple of finds along the way.
I was shocked as we approached this one to see a construction site. As noted by previous visitors, the Bonsai House is being rebuilt and is not currently a thing you can visit.
I'll leave it to the CO's discretion whether this log satisfies the requirements. Please feel free to delete it if it doesn't, I won't be offended in the slightest.
My "qualifying" photo(s) are of the Bonsai Collection in the background, with Cachly showing on my watch. My "Favourite" bonsai today is the one in the white box to the very left of the image, as it was the only one I could really see clearly from up here.
Thanks as well as congratulations for the virtual cache, georode.

BopsyGirl suggested a rare daddy/daughter caching outing today, so of course I jumped at the chance. Our initial plan thwarted, we decided Wingaap Drive was a much better option anyway.
Dodging the rain, we set off for this one, and soon found the hide, cute as anticipated. Wingaap caches along here never disappoint.
After some quick point-and-shoot photos, we signed the log and headed on to our next stop.
Thanks for the cache, Wingaap and Davidwazza.

It was raining as we pulled up for this one, but as expected that blew over very quickly and off we set.
The trek was nice and easy even with some slippery bark underfoot, and the cute little cache was soon discovered.
Unfortunately the container was rusted and the lid was missing.
Fortunately we had spares in the car. It's now in much better shape.
Thanks for the cache as always, Wingaap and 1MinnieMoo.

We were sure we'd spied Neil from the trail, but when we went in to find him, he'd scurried off home. Sneaky little guy. Confused, I sent BopsyGirl back up to the trail to direct me in, only to find that Neil was just playing tricks on us.
Widening my search just a couple of metres, I soon figured out where he'd run off to, and directed BopsyGirl down to join me. Neil was soon revealed, laughing at us as we exposed him.
Yet another amazing piece of work from the Master.

Almost floated away but I caught it in time. Coming back home with me until the waters subside.
07-Nov-21
Checked on George on my walk this evening. He is still there along with his cache, all in good order!
30-Oct-21
Looked around for a bit but came up empty. Will have to return when I have more time.
Find #2373 at 16:52.
Cache was quickly found in the obvious spot, though my iPhone had the coords about 10m out.
Thanks for the cache, kris_cs1.

#2372: Joint *FTF* at 22:35 with TeamLambo (who found it within a minute after I’d been searching for five)
I saw this notification a few minutes late, but being so close to home, I figured I had to give it a shot. Out the door and off down roads that I'd seen being built, but not yet travelled myself.
Arriving near GZ there was one car visible, but no other activity. I followed the compass, avoiding a T3.5 bushwhack, and was soon trying to keep my balance on an uneven and moving ground.
I'd been searching for about 5 minutes without luck when light rain started. I looked back up and saw a torch heading down the same bearing I'd taken. I called a suggested route out to the newcomer, who soon joined me. Nice to meet you, TeamLambo.
We discussed the cache description and attributes, and while I was still fixated on one spot that I thought likely, TeamLambo spied something sus, and.. there it was.
The cache was opened, TeamLambo claimed the FTF coin and TB, and we signed the fresh log at 22:35 then headed back to the road for a chat before parting.
Thanks for the cache, kris_cs1, and thanks to TeamLambo for the company, and graciously sharing the FTF honours. I should probably come back and check the area out in the daylight (and when its not raining) too.

#2370: *FTF* at 00:22. It's been a while!
I noticed these caches starting to be published earlier in the evening, but had a lot to do, and didn't get a chance to pay them much attention.
Sitting down for my last email check of the day, I noticed just how many had been published... and also that a few hadn't been found yet.... and of those, I reckoned I could solve several.
And tomorrow I get to sleep in. Well, I guess there's only one thing for it....
I focused mainly on FTF candidates, and identified five that were quickly solved. Three very close together, too. Well, off I go!
The chemistry didn't prove too much of a challenge, I always enjoyed the lab.
The find, likewise, was quick, despite my groans upon approach.
Thanks for the cache, Gcoven.

#2371: *FTF* at 00:45. Last of five FTFs for the night.
Back for another attempt after a DNF half an hour earlier -- I had to drive back past, and it taunted me.
Got it this time. Coords seem about 10m out, or maybe that was just the satellites hating on me tonight, . If you are where the ticks are, you are probably not where the cache is.
Thanks for the cache, Gcoven.
