Logs for Ridgeseeker and Suzaru

15-Nov-09
We were very disappointed not to find this cache, but the hike and the summit were very fine.
Looked for quite a while in every hole near the apparent GZ. Found discarded water bottles, used tp, but no container.
What a heartbreaker. We have been planning this find since before we left Alaska.
Hope it truly is still in play.

12-Nov-09
Stopped by with only the co-ordinates, no description or clue, but Ridgeseeker quickly made the find.
We were coming back after a tour of the King Solomon Cave, which we really enjoyed.
The B-2 Bomber and Run Rabbit Run TB's were with us, but moved on. Rabbit got his picture taken with the Devil.
Thanks for the fun. We continue on our camping vacation from Alaska.

11-Nov-09
Easy little find, near our camp site.
Thanks!

Another note, to run the Rabbit through.

Logging the B-2 bomber TB through on a quick fly-by.

10-Nov-09
The most fantasic location for a cache, or for anything else! This is a great beach, and it was so much fun to find a nice cache here.
We walked the entire length of the sand, and went swimming too! Will post pictures when we get home.
Dropping off a new Travel Bug, "Heading Back to the Kenai", with a mission to return to Alaska, where we are from.
We grabbed the Run Rabbit Run TB to move it along.
Thanks for the great fun !!!

Logging the high speed passage of the B-2 Bomber TB through the cache.

This one eluded us, as well. The GPSr told us we were over 200 feet away, while searching near the sitting spots.
We still gave it a good search, to no avail.
Could this be hidden on the old trail, which is now blocked off?
IMHO, the Wineglass Bay Lookout would be a great place to set up a replacement for this one....

08-Nov-09
We planned this search while we were still in Alaska, and had a lot of fun making the find. Lots of folks hiking by on a great day, but we just hunkered down, logged in and made a few trades. Don't remember the particulars, but we did leave a small vial of Alaska gold, just for fun! Thanks for the hide in this great spot!
Ridgeseeker and Suzaru, from Seward, Alaska.

We were very lucky to be here on a gorgeous day! In fact, we had blue skies and sun for our entire visit to Tassie. Loved every moment of it.

06-Nov-09
Found the cache rather easily, and it was in good shape when we were there.
We had a great time in the park; climbed Cradle Mt. and circled Dove Lake.
The "spot-light" animal tour after dark was a lot of fun!
Where we live in Alaska, chewing animals can be very hard on cache containers.
Do you think that is the problem here?
Thanks for the fun. The B-2 Bomber TB did a touch-and-go.
It is very fast, and the mission is top secret...

04-Nov-09
Found this near a new friend's home, to show how the game is played.
Warren and Ridgeseeker had fun crossing the golf course, and poking about in the bushes.
Had to chase a few swamp hens along, and we wandered a little, but found the container!
It's in fine shape, so we logged in, traded a marble, left an Argentina coin and a US coin.
Thanks for the fun. Perhaps the game has a new player, in Warren.

Logging the B-2 Bomber TB thru; it visited many AU caches with us during our camping vacation from Alaska.

01-Nov-09
This a wonderful cache location in an exciting spot! We did not know the gorge was called the Devil's Kitchen, but that seems to fit.
We were rather early in the morning, and did not see anyone else; too early to tour the lighthouse.
We logged, took a smile magnet and left a little penquin figure. The B-2 Bomber TB did a touch-and-go.
It is very fast, and the mission is top secret...
This was our last KI cache, on a wonderful camping vacation from Alaska.

We found this lake by accident, after seeing a note in a local cafe and then asking directions.
What a wonder! What a great park to build a town around, and a great water source.
It was a lovely deep dark blue on this evening, so the magic has happened. Apparently there is a huge community of tiny fish which turn bright blue during their spawning season in the lake. If you look very closely you can see them shimmer.
Our son is a geologist in Alaska who wrote his thesis on volcanoes, so it was great fun to share the info about Blue Lake with him.
While admiring the lake, Ridgeseeker did a "check-in" with his SPOT device, which sends an email to our friends with a link to a google map of the location.
Here is the note that was sent:

Another beautiful beach with no one else around.
We loved this spot, although we did not see any seals.

Suz ran into a nice big goanna back at the parking lot.
We are on a great vacation from Alaska, avoiding winter.
Thanks for a great hide!

This a great cache, we had a lot of fun here!
It's a tough spot, you must be careful around these sharp rocks, but the scrambling is good.
We sat and watched the cormorants (I think that's what they are) on that fantastic formation, and enjoyed the solitude.
It was a great stop on our vacation from Alaska. Thanks!

We were too early for the cave tour, unfortunately, but that meant we had the hill to ourselves.
Ridgeseeker made the find pretty quickly. We signed in and the B-2 Bomber TB did a touch-and-go.
It is very fast, and the mission is top secret...
We stopped by while on a 6 week vacation from Alaska. Thanks for getting us to another interesting spot.

Great walk up the hill. Spooked the wallabies, and a big goanna spooked me.
Suz stayed below, I topped the rise and made the find. Picked up a sweet little pathtag, my first one.
Left some U.S. coins we had in the camper. The B-2 Bomber TB did a touch-and-go.
It is very fast, and the mission is top secret...
Thanks for a nice stop on our camping adventure from Alaska.

Thanks for the hide.
We are enjoying KI while vacation from Seward, Alaska.

29-Oct-09
We had just enough time to find this nice cache and get a few photos while waiting to get in the stand-by line at the KI ferry.
Signed and traded a few items, the B-2 Bomber TB did a touch-and-go. It is very fast, and the mission is top secret...

25-Oct-09
This turned out to be high adventure! Suzaru and I were out looking at the landmark earlier, then returned after dinner, just before dark. A whale was breaching just offshore, throwing its body up into the air. By that time, the weather had picked up; it was blowing hard from the south and then it began to rain very heavily. No worries, I geared up and followed the GPS arrow out through the spray. The precipitation was coming in horizontally, and there were mini waterfalls in the rocks from the rain. Wonderfully, the cache hide is so well done that it remains dry in those conditions. Logging in while keeping the paper inside my rain coat was a challenge, don't know what it ended up looking like. The B-2 Bomber TB did a touch-and-go. It is very fast, and the mission is top secret... I tried to get one photo looking back towards the van, but it doesn't show much. What great fun! Thanks for the great hide.

22-Oct-09
We loved this cache! Came all the way from Alaska, had to find this extreme.
It was a lovely day at the Cape, not too hot for us northern types.
Signed the log, which was in good shape, but there is very little room left to log in.
We enjoyed the view of Mt. Warning, where we were this morning!

18-Oct-09
Our first cache find in Australia!
We are camping around, after coming over from Alaska to row in the World Masters Games.
This was well-hidden, and the cache is in fine shape.
We did not have a car, but left a nice Alaska totem magnet. Took the small set of scissors; safety first!
Thanks!
ps- Ridgeseeker picked up another traveler; that's right, a tick. It rode with him to Coffs Harbor...
