The woudsluis in Broek op Langedijk, a village in The Netherlands. In the old days this was an agricultural area with only transport over water. The lock connect the bigger canal to the landsarea. Nowadays it is for tourist only.

Finding a punt is not difficult in the netherlands but most of them don't have clable across the canal, this one has.
It is a rare one because it is private, I had to pay one Euro for this thirty meters across the Noordhollandskanaal near the city of Den Helder in the very north west part of the Netherlands.

The higest point of Noordholland, a province in the northwest of the netherlands.
The place is called: "Het Kopje van Bloemendaal" in the village Bloemendaal near Haarlem. It is only 58 meters above sealevel! The most of the suroundings is under sealevel.
On top of this dune there is a concrete watchtower and some restaurants.

This bridge is not totaly within your definition but it is so special I want you to share it.

This bridge (and the three remaining others) are made of two pontons wich move away under the ramps. They are about 150 years old and still working fine. The two major problems are that the ramp is steep, so it is slow to pass by and the bridges are so narrow that even a bike cant't pass a car. When a Lorry tries to get over it wil sink but ther will be little dammage to the bridge itself.
Nowadays they are remotly opened and closed, in the past you needed two bridgekeepers, one on each side of the canal.

This the lighthouse of "Egmond aan Zee" it is called "Van Speijk" after a dutch naval officer who blew up his own ship -with hmself in it- in the harbour of Antwerp, so the Belgiums could not get it. This is the origen of our preverb: "Dan liever de lucht in".

The old vertical lift bridge for the railroad from Alkmaar to Heerhugowaard, near the village of Broek op Langedijk.
The canal is : Alkmaar-Kolhorn Kanaal, mostly used for recreational purposes.

In the Netherlands it is not a challange to find a windmill, I can find a dozen or so within a hour on the bikecycle. Because 95% of the mills are built for pumping water I needed some searching for one what grinds seeds.
This one I found by accident, it is situated in Bloemendaal and called: "De Zandhaas" (in english: the hare in the sands)

In the north western part of The Netherlands is a village called Zwaagdijk-West. I was looking for a place in the neighbourhood with a quiet simular name when I found this one.
