Logs for glenville

Our 2nd day in Leeds and this was not an easy Earthcache because;
a) it is difficult and
b) the bank staff were looking out their windows wondering what on earth we were doing.
We found some fossils, not necessarily the right fossils mind you, but we managed to send some answers to the ECO. TFTEC.
Heading north now for more Earthcaches and 2 Wetherspoons to visit, another of our collections.

Sometimes it is amazing at the amount of detail preserved in a fossil and hence the information we can learn about life millions of years ago. As we looked at the fossils lots of smartly dressed people, some with mortar boards, came past us, there must have been a graduation day nearby. The 2 Wetherspoons we visited next (now 79 visited!) were also busy with more of the same. Nice pints of Ossett Brewery Excelsior 5.2% and Geeves Clear Cut. TFTEC. Only one more EC to visit now, tomorrow.

A warm Tuesday morning and we were in Leeds for some caching and beers. The Town Hall was receiving even more scaffolding this morning, the tower is already covered with a massive scaffold construction. The Hall should look good when the repairs/cleaning is completed. TFTC.

One of the 13 Earthcaches visited during our 2 day stay in Leeds, staying at Leeds Dock. A very pleasant Tuesday morning and good to be wandering about busy Leeds city centre. A fine monument and interesting geology. TFTEC.

This sort of granite is always worth a close look, the crystals are beautiful. We were on our way to Whitelocks Ale House and paused here to claim another Earthcache from the 13 on our list during our 2 night stay in Leeds. Two by Two Session IPA was very nice, had to have a second one. Colette's strawberry gin went down well too. TFTEC.

We have seen Rapakivi Granite at 2 other Earthcaches now and it is very special when viewed close up. Interesting how it is formed, the geological world can be quite amazing. TFTEC. Found during our 2 night stay in Leeds, it is good to back in Yorkshire, even if it is the West Riding and not the East Riding where I was born!

Another Earthcache off our list of 13 this short stay in Leeds, staying at Leeds Dock. Interesting to see if there is any flow banding visible, we soon had our opinion on that. Monday afternoon and Briggate was still very busy with muggles and entertainers. TFTEC.

Liesegang rings are fascinating when you know about them, having probably walked past many without ever noticing them before. TFTEC. In Leeds for 2 nights in a city apartment which is very nice at Leeds Dock.

We know this superb building from a couple of previous visits so it was good to come back here for an Earthcache. My Born and Bred in Yorkshire cushion came from the Yorkshire shop inside. TFTEC. First pint in Leeds was Kirkstall Pale ale in Friends of Ham, an exceptionally nice café bar. The chorizo and cheddar toasted sourdough is so good I had it the following day too!

In the city for a 2 night stay for some caching and beers. Very nice benches here, quite a large carving of the stone. TFTEC. Next stop was Revolution de Cuba where, to our dismay, we found a changed recipe for the nuclear daquiri. Now with unnecessary pineapple and pre-mixed with crushed ice. Still good but not as good! I shall write to R de C.
