Logs for gumleaves
07-May-19
Replaced the cache on 16/4/2019 due to reports that it could not be found. All good to go again.
27-Sep-16
This cache was first placed by us 11 years ago on the 4 June 2005. Since that time more than 600 finds have been logged. It is time for a refresh. I have replaced the container (no cracks to keep things dry) with a slightly larger one and added lots of new goodies. Just in time for the second week of the school holidays. Enjoy the new improved cache and the nearby scenery. The river is quite high due to the recent rains in Northern Victoria. Not something you see very often, quite spectacular.
11-Apr-10
The cache has been put back close to where it used to be but in a different hiding spot due to landscaping works that rendered the old location un-useable. Have also added some new items to freshen up the contents. Still has the same outlook and aspect as the old spot.

Had to relocate this cache to another spot very close to where it was before. The management decided to do some landscaping which resulted in the cache being exposed to full view of the public. Have also done a respray of the container and added 3 new items to the contents. Added a matchbox car in its original box, a packet of mini-pegs with ladybirds and a packet of pirate and wildlife stickers. It is in a busy but scenic part of town although can be fairly quiet early in the morning or on most evenings.

Received a phone call from the In-laws last night informing me that the area where the cache was located has been landscaped and the terrain altered. The cache has been recovered and will need to be relocated somewhere else nearby. Hopefully it won't be too long before getting this back up online. It has been a very popular cache. Apologies to anyone who goes looking and unable to find it.

The original cache has gone missing a couple of times, we replaced it once and another caching family 'The Morris' has kindly replaced it a second time, a short distance away from the original location. If you look for this cache, take a moment to enjoy the little park alongside the lake, it is a very picturesque location in Northern Victoria.

We replaced and relocated this cache close to its original location. Unfortunately the cache got carted away by the local council after doing some works in the area. It's a great spot around here, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do! regards, GUMLEAVES.

It appears that the local council has done some works in this area and removed the little footbridge under which this cache was located. The cache and its contents have disappeared. We will replace and relocate this cache to a nearby location shortly. Apologies to cachers who may have had trouble locating this in the last few days. Gumleaves.

Found at 1.25pm after having a picnic lunch nearby. Well hidden but not too hard to find. Second find for the day. It was a joint birthday activity for Father Gumleaf and the youngest gumleaf. Took earplugs, left double pencil sharpener. Thanks Spruce Mooses.
Found at 12.15. Had the day off work and thought we would do a couple of caches and then have a picnic lunch at nearby lake. Kids enjoyed this one, Eldest gumleaf cracked it easily on level 4 and then he wanted to try level 8, almost did it too.
Whilst writing in the logbook a male passerby stopped on the otherside of the tree to do a wee wee. We saw him but he didn't see us until he resumed his journey and passed by along the nearby track. Interesting experiences come the way of Geocachers.
Took Compass, left spring balance. Thanks Muzza, great cache.

Decided to go out and find this cache straight after dinner and before it got totally dark. Found the device as per instructions, very professional looking device indeed! Gumleaves enjoyed wiring it up. Went off looking for the cache once we got the coordinates and while we were searching the bushes a muggle came along looking for his dog, unfortunately we couldn't help him with that. Soon after the youngest gumleaf discovered the hiding spot of the cache. It was about 7.15pm by this time. We didn't spend too much longer at this spot as it was starting to get dark, we had torches but it was getting very cold, a stark contrast to just over a week ago when it hit 36 degrees. Took bandage and left stapler. Thanks Chookies. Nice location too.

Thought we would come by and "service" our cache.
Removed some junk and added a mini-stapler, a multi-point pencil, a pair of shoelaces and a bottle of bubbles.
Also added a pen to go with the notebook as the last one seems to have gone AWOL. Took stubby holder.
Looking back at the log entries it appears as though a member of the Historical Society found the cache after seeing a cacher emerge from the bushes.
We can thoroughly recommend a visit to the Historical Museum. If you do decide to visit make sure you check out the stuff in the back yard as well as inside.

Have replaced missing cache with all new contents and moved it to a new spot about 100m away. Hope you enjoy the new and improved cache.

Found 5.45pm, the second find for the day as part of our youngest's birthday activity, she wanted to go caching so that's what we did. It took us a while to find the right entry point as far as the roads go but once we found the horse trail we were OK although the hill was pretty steep, deserves every bit of the 2 and a half stars for the terrain rating. Terrific views from the side of the hill. Had to log our visit fairly quickly as the hayfever struck pretty bad whilst on the hill. Something in the air up there today. Took McDonald's Toy game, left yellow safety arm band. Thanks Chefs.
First of 3 caches found for the day as part of our youngest's caching birthday activity, Yes, that's what she wanted to do. Great park and location, cache well hidden but not too hard to find, out of the way of muggles view. Took shrek stickers and left pencil sharpener. Thanks Team Crackers and Cracker Girl.

Found it with chookies and Narre Youth (Actually found by Chookies) at the conclusion of our ride of the Warburton Trail. Had a barbeque in the nearby shelter and found the local residents quite hostile at times, especially around the platform. Nice spot to relax and unwind after a long ride.
Took highlighter, left froggy note pad. Thanks Acts2YouthGroup.

A couple of reports indicate that the cache has gone missing. The listing will have to be temporarily disabled till I can go by and investigate. Should have it back online within a couple of weeks. Apologies for the inconvenience of a missing cache.

The waters have receded but decided to place the cache on slightly higher ground, not very far away from it's original place. Should be less chance of getting mud on shoes as well. The Cache is back in business with a couple of extra goodies in it as well.
After relocating the cache added two extra items. Added set of 3 plastic scrapers, could be useful for anyone who gets particularly muddy shoes (Only after heavy rain though) and a small purple purse with shoulder strap. Please trade fair when making swaps, taking swimming goggles for a cheap soiled toy is not a fair swap!

We were returning from Echuca to Melbourne so decided to do a couple of caches on the way home. We picked out this one and another one nearby. Found it easily at the given coordinates. Well hidden but not too hard for a geocacher to spot.
Saw a couple of trail bike riders go past whilst we were examining the cache, but don't think they saw us.
Took Bouncy ball and pocket knife, left small yo-yo and blue shoulder bag.
Thanks Wine timers for taking us to a spot in the Aussie bush.

This was the second find for the day. Found at 3.05pm. Both caches by Wine Timers, must live nearby.
Nice easy find, easy to get to. Mother Gumleaf was appreciative of not having to traipse through the bush this time as she hadn't put her runners on.
Couple of trail bike riders came roaring down a nearby driveway and were heard to say "GEOCACHERS" above the roar of their engines. They took off again, might have been the same ones we saw a few minutes earlier at ANOTHER FOREST CACHE.
Took Yowie frog and left toy Hippopotamus. Thanks again Wine Timers.

Decided to do a check on the cache and added a couple of things, a pair of shoe laces and a pocket weighing device, Useful to weigh all those fish you are going to catch nearby. Hope you enjoy the location.
Cheers,

Decided to do a check on the cache while we are here and added a couple of items to keep it's appeal up. Added a pack of Winnie the Pooh puffy stickers and a packet of coloured Gel pens. If you take something from the cache please replace it with something of equal value. Thanks. It's a great place to visit.
Had to temporarily disable this cache due to adverse weather conditions. Will get it back online in the next day or two once the waters have receded and/or we have moved it to higher ground.
Connex apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Found by Gumleaves at 1pm. Certainly an appropriate spot for a cache. Not the sort of thing you would expect to find here. We had planned to make this our second cache for the day after attempting Beauty Pageant nearby but we failed on that one due to the recent rains and muddy tracks leading into it so we gave up on that and then tried this one with success obviously.
The little gumleaves took spider and yo-yo, left Disney sticker pack and champagne bubbles.
Thanks Embi for an interesting location and some nice scenery along the way. Gumleaves.

We found all the answers we needed and got to within 1.5km of the final cache but were stymied by the muddy tracks due to heavy rain the previous day. We will have to attempt this one another time when we are up this way. I guess if we owned a four wheel drive we could have made it through, never mind.

Found at 2.45pm. Found fairly easily after a walk through the old gold diggings and bushy surroundings. It was a nice warm day, lots of mosquitoes even at this time of day so didn't hang around too long. Intriguing location and well disguised cache location. Took nothing, left a pair of shoelaces (could be useful if any bushwalkers break a lace in their shoes). Thanks PPRASS for leading us to this spot.

Found about 2.00pm. Very quiet. Found cache quite easily. Sat down on park bench close by and examined the cache. Two of the little gumleaves had a play on the swings in the playground. As we were leaving two teenagers pounced on the swings once they were vacated.
Nice location. Took Nothing, left bottle of champagne bubbles.
Thanks Mr Coffee from Gumleaves. [8]

Found about 2.45pm Saturday afternoon. Never realised that the park extended to this side of the road. We had fun with the bugs. Got 22 of them first go. Very well constructed.
Just as we had finished putting back the first stage Team Crackers turned up. After introducing ourselves we went looking for the second part of the cache. Team Crackers caught up with us after we found the cache (batteries had to be replaced in the GPS between caches). A very well packed cache, had a bit of difficulty getting everything back in to the box again but finally managed. A bigger container would make it easier. Took torch left orange whistle/compass combo with screwtop lid.
Thanks Muzza for a fascinating cache. Kids loved it. Nice location too.

Found about 1.15pm. Pretty quiet, no one around, probably because it was Grand Final day with the footy and it was a bit on the cool side too.
Found with Father Gumleaf after the little gumleaves and their mother were unable to locate it the day before.
Took caching bag and left keyring torch with battery, Also took Slytherin stamper and left double metal pencil sharpener.
Well hidden in a great spot. Thanks Chefs on the Run.

Found at 2.15pm on Friday, 23rd September 2005. We finally found it on our second attempt for the day. We had previously given up but when Farmers 5 caught up with us at "Off the Wall" they confirmed that it was definitely still there, so we went back and looked harder and eventually found it.
Nice location although there were a few young muggles about that we had to be careful of. Enjoyed the jokes.
Here is our joke:
Q. Why did the golfer wear two pairs of pants?
A. Just in case he got a hole in one!
Took whoopee cushion, caching bag and keychain lantern. Left two bouncy balls, packet of small coloured bulldog clips, scout whistle, bottle of bubbles and something else that we can't remember. Should have written it all down at the time.
Thanks Farmers 5 for a great cache.
Regards Gumleaves. [:o)]

Found 1.15pm on Friday, 23rd September 2005. We really enjoyed the town and the murals. Met up with Farmers 5 at the cache site after spotting them at the picnic ground. Our suspicions that they were fellow cachers were confirmed when we saw them gathering clues at one of the murals.
We liked the surprise element of the cache. Took tennis ball, left Pyjama Sam keyring.
Thanks Maccamob for a great cache.

Found at 3.00pm, Friday 23rd September.
Thanks Chookies for another great cache. The youngest gumleaf found the cache and was so excited at being the finder. Surprisingly the location was very quiet and just about muggle free. Surprising for a lovely spring afternoon in school holidays.
A great cache for kids and adults alike. We did sing along too. Thanks Team Chookies.

Great cache. Nice view from the first waypoint too. Well deserving of the name. Nice location and not too hard to get to. Met team DA BUGS on their way out while we were searching for it. Took pencil torch and left set of coloured gel pens, a metal double pencil sharpener and a pocket weighing device. Found the cache about 5.35pm not too long before sunset. Plenty of mosquitos around so recommend a bit of insect repellent if coming late in the day. Thanks Farmers 5.

The first stage of this cache was very unusual and a fun way to find the next coordinates. Took 3 try's to get the coordinates but managed quite well.
Being ANZAC day there were quite a few muggles around but still managed to locate the cache without being seen.
While we were examining the contents of the cache a young girl fell down the nearby embankment and came away with a blood nose and some cuts and scratches but otherwise OK. Added a bit of drama to the occasion. A nice spot to hide a cache.
Took keyring with tape measure and left Champagne bubbles. Other child took rubiks cube keyring and left metal pencil sharpener.
Excellent cache Chookies!!!

Found at 6pm,
found very easily once we got to GZ but it took a few minutes to find the entrance to the chinese diggings. Plenty of ants around, I think the terrain should be a bit higher than a one. The diggings were very interesting.
Took: Karma card and spider
Left: Pencil sharpener and 'On Track' travel bug
Thanks Romax, we never would have found this place if it wasn't for a cache.

We found the cache at 7.00pm. Just as well it was Good Friday and the place was deserted because there would be muggles everywhere and they would be wondering what the heck we were looking for. Everything in cache was in order. Took bandaids and left a yellow super ball. Well hidden.

Found by gumleaves on Labour Day Holiday.
Our first official cache found on our own without any assistance from expert cachers.
Started out from Lysterfield Lake, quite a warm day too. Was a 3km walk from our picnic spot. Not too bad till we hit the hill. Saw a snake slither across the track along the way.
Once at the top we found it quite easily. Nice views along the way too.
On the way down we saw a few kangaroos hopping along and once back on the gun club track a couple of kookaburras had a good laugh at us.
Recommended that you take some water to drink on a warm day if you head out from the lake.
TNLN. Thanks Muzza.
