Logs for ozwoodturner

22-Oct-06
Quick find whilst visiting friends in town.

20-Oct-06
Took along some friends (with their children) and MASPRODUCTION. Cache not too hard to find although external antenna helpful due to tree cover. Everyone scrambled around a bit to find cache, but it was found in good condition. Kids took little electronic game and key fobs. We left marbles, and drink coaster. Thanks for the cache, a lovely area.

Thanks to Bolt es for organising this event. Had a great time and met lots of nice people.

Wasn't too hard to find, as I actually stepped on the cache!!! Luckily it was strong enough. Cache in good condition. Lovely spot, we saw dolphins (porpoises?) frolicing in the water near the beach. Thanks for the cache.

Took the long way in by traveling along the beaches. Unfortunately, I slipped on a rock and fell heavily on my right hand. Thought I'd suffered a bad sprain, but a few days later found that I'd actually broken my thumb. Now it's in a cast for four weeks. In spite of that my wife and I persevered and found the cache, and left a couple of travel bugs. Nice spot, took nothing but pain!!!

In the area visiting family, and this cache on the route home. Lovely park, but lorikeets left for the day already. Butcher bird in the same location as cache, and watched us the whole time we were fiddling with the cache. Lovely spot, great cache.

Visiting nearby family, and took the opportunity to locate this one near their home. Picked up two TB's and Canadian magnet label, left toy house. Lots of mozzies as was dusk, fortunately, I had some bug spray in my kit. Cache was so well hidden, I had to rely on clue to find it. GPS a bit wonky under the trees as well.

Wife and I were visiting family in Brisbane and decided to look for this one, as it wasn't far off our track. Must admit, I never would have gone to this area under normal circumstances. The exhibit was closed as this is Easter Monday, so will have to make an effort to come another time to visit the exhibit.

Cache not too hard to find, but you are right about wonky GPS due to tree cover. Cache in great condition, but big spider inside bag, we shook him out and let him find another home. Mozzies were bad, so we had to use our bug spray in our kit. Took TB, left TB. Thanks for showing us a lovely park and the swans!!

Easy find for Tymba and myself. Look out for the stinging nettles though, Tymba found them. Good introduction for other members of our group.

Tymba and I went in with Masproduction and friends. Great walk in and spectacular bush with gulleys. Great day, walking, talking, and BBQ'ing. Thanks for the great cache.

09-Apr-06
This was my 2nd attempt to find this cache, as I forgot to bring along the worksheets the first time. An excellent walk on a perfect afternoon. Thanks for the cache, now I know how the nearby town got its name. Took Squipplepippy music CD, left mouse pad. Ozwoodturner and 2 Geoladies.

Nice walk from park. I now understand the concern about water shortages as the dam is so low. Easy find, replaced o'ring seal in cap of cache, and left Stargazer TB. Took nothing.

Oh God! Another hill!! That's two today! Got here at sunset, lovely photo taken. Found cache after beating around the bush a bit. Made log entry. TNLN

Wow!! What a hike. Mind you I did make it extra hard by parking 2.5 kms away. I had to complete my 5 km walk for the day, but didn't take into account the steep ascents and descents from the Toowoomba Range, to the valley, and back up the hill to the cache. I parked at top of the hill (S 27° 35.027 E 151° 59.452), and worked my way down and up. Only do this if you have 3 hours spare, and are reasonably fit.

However, I wanted to retrieve the Travel Bug "Star Gazer" as I figured he had been up there long enough. I brought him home, but check out the travel bug log, he got into trouble, but I guess he was thirsty and hungry waiting for his next trip.

The cache is in great condition considering its been in place nearly three years. I checked out the AM/FM miniature radio someone left behind, it still works, but the batteries are getting weak. I took the Travel Bug and a small shifter spanner, and left a torch with batteries. I took some pictures of the area and returned the cache to its resting place.

I highly recommend the cache as it's in a great location, and not easy to get to.

This was the second find of the day with Tymba. Great location, although I'm not sure why Cunningham didn't use a nearby (higher) location. Perhaps it was too hard to climb. However, it's interesting to stand on the same spot, & see the same view as someone from our historical past. Thanks to Ruzzelz for the opportunity. We took nothing, but left Bottle Bug II to continue on his merry way to N.Z. If anyone heading to N.Z. please help this Travel Bug!!

Took Tymba along to introduce him to Geo-Caching (after all I've been using his GPS for the past few weeks now!).

In spite of Tymba's fears we got home before nightfall, I'll save the torch to place in another cache.

Really great drive through some territory I would never have a chance to visit. Great view of rock formation.

Nice little park, I've passed it a hundred times on the way to Brisbane, but didn't know it was there. Took Bottle Bug II, left small torch.

Found the cache as described. Took along my wife and our neighbour as they have never tried this before (only my second geo-cache). We took miniature torch, and left a Pepper pen. Now that we've been introduced to this trail, we intend to go back and hike it. Thanks for showing us a lovely area of the Range. (Note to cache owner - text on exterior of container is not legible any more due to weather damage).

My first attempt as well for geo-caching, using a borrowed GPS. Chose this location as close to home. Exchanged pen for "Horn Bag" Apron (got a real good laugh from my wife!). Made log entry and replaced cache.
