This is Caching at its best - drawing my attention to a spot I would otherwise have driven right past, and adding to my appreciation of the area. TFTC

Beautiful flight in to Mason Bay, the Big Dune is a must do, however the wind came up quickly in the afternoon and the sandblasting made it tricky to get to the top. Returning into the wind sand gets everywhere - eyes, jackets, camera - but rain held off and pleased to have made it. TFTC.

Warning, the final destination is currently in a space closed off by DOC, recommend not attempting this for perhaps a couple of months till March 2016

too many people to search on the outward trip, but all clear on the return. TFTC

TFTC, it drew our attention to the signal box. While in Ohakune we cycled the Old Coach Road, formerly linking the 2 rail lines. Interesting history of the railway with extension line to Raetihi

location specified by GPS seemed to be underneath new construction debris, looked all around within 50m without success

Taking advantage of a fine day to get some fresh air and sunshine, lots of Kowhai flowers and Tui, this has got to be one of the nicest walks around. Love the hint! Log sheet was damp.
Trying out Cachesense on a smart phone - very nice to use, easier and quicker than the Etrex 20 - this was our first find with it, thanks!

A great island, well worth visiting. It's really great to see the conservation and restoration project going on and being actively maintained by DoC and Auckland Zoo.
Visited with HHS enviro-group students, and took the opportunity to find the cache!
A nice fairly easy find in an amazing location. Great sea and island views are only a very short walk away - We look forward to coming again in a few years' time when the restoration of the island has progressed further!

Had decided at Braeburn Pylon to leave the remaining caches in this valley otherwise we'd run out of time to walk the Braeburn Track. However were intrigued to see the only other vehicle on this road stopped at Te Wiriki View so had to check this cache, and sure enough Footy had logged a visit, probably 10 minutes earlier, travelling in the opposite direction. Our second find of the new year! We enjoyed 10 days in a nearby cottage, a perfect base for local walks, rafting, and otherwise lolling in the back country peace and quiet. TFTC
First cache of the new year! There are small bottles of oil samples from Blackwater I and Blackwater II in the Murchison Museum, as well as the drill bit. "Natural Flames" offer a trip to see the fire for $85 but it is further up the valley than this cache. TFTC

Drove past before realising it, but an interesting drive down to Fern Flat in order to turn around. TFTC

Very nice walk through the beech forest up to the weir, but with the track deterioration there is diminished incentive to go beyond there.

Enjoyed a fine day and very nice walk up the valley. TFTC
Beautiful walk with yellow flowering Bulbinella through the valley. TFTC

Our first earth cache, and a very intriguing one, really made us look around the site and notice details at the beach. TFTC!
