Logs for woodhawk

03-Dec-08
We spent 2 weeks exploring Tasmania as part of a 2 month trip to Australia. Tasmania had some of the prettiest coastal scenery we saw. Thanks for bringing us to the Tasman Arch area.

Great views of the bay, Freycinet Peninsula, and the Hazards. TFTC!

01-Dec-08
Found it while doing the loop hike to Wineglass Bay, across the isthmus to Hazards Beach, and around Mt. Mayson with a few nice views of the Great Oyster Bay.

30-Nov-08
Had a nice evening stroll along the beach after finding the cache.

23-Nov-08
We did a very nice hike in the nearby Mt Fields NP to Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls, the Tall Trees Circuit and to Lady Barron Falls, followed by an excellent lunch at the Possum Shed. No sign of a platypus on this bright sunny afternoon.

22-Nov-08
There was cold freezing drizzle on the afternoon we had available to do this cache. The photo was taken in near white-out conditions so we missed the view.

09-Nov-08
Nice beach area. I was lucky enough to be one of about 28 people to be selected to feed one of the dolphins at the first morning feeding. Had a great time watching all the dolphins beforehand.

Interesting area. We did the walk up thru the pinnacles from a pull out a bit past the visitor center to this nice lookout. TFTC!

It was too hot to do much hiking, but we did manage the short loop up to the lookout and then to the first water tank. We found this cache after a refreshing drink at the visitor center, and then later in the day saw the wallabies. TFTC!

Nice views and walks in the area, even tho it was likely more than 35C. Left a Colorado quarter. TFTC!

We were in Sydney at the start of our two month exploration of Australia. The attached photo was taken at Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s' plaque, but we later found Mark Twain's plaque near the southeast corner of Circular Quay. Twain's most familiar works are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but the travelogues (The Innocents Abroad, Roughing It, A Tramp Abroad, Following the Equator) are equally enjoyable given his sharp wit and thoughtfully crafted sentences.
