Cache was out in plain view and is water logged. Dried out as best I could, but could do with a maintenance check. TNLN SL. TFTC.

I made a boo boo and thought that the survey marker next to where the helipad once was was the trig point.
Oh well, there's always next time.
Oh well, there's always next time.
It had been nearly seven years since I made the climb up to the top of Flinders Peak. At that time, I thought that one day, my then six month old daughter could come walking with me. Today was that day!
We started our adventure at 0645hrs and took our time getting to the top. The westerly winds were bone-chilling on some of the exposed ridges, on what was otherwise a beautiful winter day.
Near the top, I finally understood the reason that the track had been closed by the Ipswich City Council. I highly recommend staying out of the fenced off (and taped off area) just past the "DANGER / ENTRY PROHIBITED". The tape marks an eroded hole that appears to go through the roof of the Secret Cave (the pink prohibited area on then sign's map) and through which death or a spinal injury are likely should one fall. Fortunately, common sense has prevailed with the track reopened with a short detour down to the left around the area of the hole.
We got to the top found that the helipad was no more. Grabbed the cache and dropped off a Unite for Diabetes TB, after reading my previous log entry from seven years ago.
We were joined by a lovely group of walkers from a bushwalking club who, on our descent, were kind enough to double back to make sure that we were OK getting down. Slow and steady. My little girl loved the adventure. TFTC, Rogainer. This remains my favourite.

After quite a long break from caching, this was a nice find on our family adventure up to White Rock. I loved the work that has gone into the cache container
TN, Left the 100 finds Geocoin. Thanks for the cache ManicWombat.

What better way to help my wife get over her fear of heights than get her to climb White Rock with our little girl and me... This is the third time that I've been up here in the last five years, and is one of my favourite caches. I have a funny feeling that the gentleman & young lad that we met at the top of our climb may have dropped off the TB that we ended up taking. LNSL. TFTC.

Cache found after exploring the nearby caves with friends. Another great Rogainer cache, that once again has taken me somewhere great in Southeast Queensland.
TNSL. Left the Navy TB. Thanks for the cache, Rogainer. Had a great time exploring the length of the cave system.

I met up with friends near the cafe to do the neaby cache, Cave. I pulled out my GPS to find the Trig Point, only to dicover that I had been leaning against it for the previous five minutes while we had been talking about the views.

I'm not even going to bother to do a check on this one, given the amount of water through here. Gone.
22-Oct-10
Stopped by today to check if cache was still insitu floowing the recent flooding.
As per previous visits the cache was water-logged. The log book had been all but destroyed by the continued sogginess.
As the cache has been archived and the owner not willing to do maintain their cache, I have removed and disposed of the damaged cache container and contents.

After an epic journey involving climbing though mud banks and an amphibious assault on GZ from the swollen waters of the flooded Brisbane River, I arrived at GZ to find that the cache appears to have been washed away.
Although the cache survived the 2008 floods, it was no match for what appears to have been at least 2m of fast water over GZ, and the associated foot of mud that I dug through to confirm that the cache was gone.
Will replace with a flood-proof cache ~mid-November after exams are over.

Given the recent flooding, this will be disabled until I check it out. Am thinking that she may have been washed away.
Just did a drive by and think that GZ may have undergone extensive remodelling, courtesy of the Brisbane River. I thought that I had placed the cache high enough to avoid flooding.
Will check ASAP and enable/archive as appropriate.

After having seen Hitchcock's 'The Birds' at an impressionable age, the walk to GZ was a tad creepy...
Easy find. Dropped of Dyson the Fish swaggie (he only just managed to fit in). TFTC.

Great hide. Found at 1030hrs after I literally put my hand on it, while searching. TNLNSL. thanks for the cache.
Nice, easy find while visiting Bundaberg. TNLN. Couldn't sign log ad I'd forgot my pen, and the logbook was wet. No sign of the Crowesfeet TB. TFTC.
12-Oct-10
Found on a very windy day while visiting Bundaberg for a few days. Wasn't in the first spot I looked. Checked a second likely spot, and found a porno mag. As I admired the lovely ladies, it dawned on me that this was not, in fact, the cache. Back the ladies went, and a the third liekly spot came up trumps!
Took the RAN and Anenome TBs and left the South Tyrolean geocoin and Bever TB. SL. Thanks for the cache.

After the last DNFs, I finally got a chance to go and check on the cache. Sure enough, the last of the Mongy's original Ipswich caches has fallen to to the muggles.
I had a good look around, thinking that the cache may have been mis-placed, but there was no sign of it. As such, I am archiving the cache.

Found in the company of my little girl, who loves "treasure hunting". Nice, easy find, with a good view of an F-111 flying over Amberley.

You've got to be quick off the mark if you want to nab a First-to-Find in Ipswich these days. So when this one popped up in my inbox, it was straight on the bike and in for the kill for me. *FTF* at 1345hrs. TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache, Stu.

No joy today for Penguiny & Little Penguiny.
Our search was interrupted by a gentleman in a maintenance uniform, whom I asked if he was "looking for the rot". He indicated that he was there to do a maintenance check on the rotunda. We left to go and see the animals, and let the gentleman continue with his "maintenance check" uninterputed. Funnily enough though, his "maintence check" involved looking in exactly the same spots as we had been looking...
No doubt we'll be back. Thanks for the cache, StormyKnights. Apologies for taking so long to archive the old muggled cache in the same area.

Disappointment is the only logical outcome if one chooses to go looking for an archived cache that has been reported to no longer be there...
Archived to make space for a new cache.

This cache really should be archived. Located at the outflow to a stormwater drain, this leaking cache becomes a wet mess after rain.
The owner has not logged on since December 2008 and has not responded to any of the listed maintenance requests. As I live nearby, I'll be happy to dispose of the cache if archived.

It has become clear that the third of Mongy's Ipswich caches, for which I had stewardship over, has fallen victim to the Ipswich muggling community. [:(!]
Checked on the cache and can confirm it is missing.
I'm going to have to put my thinking cap on to come up with something a little more muggle-resistant...

Another joyless search, despite actually having my GPS and the sun in the sky - this place certainly looks different in the light of day. Thanks for the hunt.
I should have stayed around for a bit longer, and would have ended up meeting GIB69 & Gunnie69 - only just missed them.

No joy in the dark.
Saw this one pop up as I was leaving work, so swung by on the way home hoping for firsties. Unfortunatley, I was caching by iPhone, with the only the tiny beam of a small neuro torch to light my way. After about 15min of fruitless searching, I though it better to come back another time when that great big fireball in the sky could light the way.

No joy today. We set our dropship down on the roof, and quickly made our way on foot to GZ.
Nothing was showing up on our motion scanners, so we made our way down to the lower level to commence our sweep. We came up empty-handed, but were able to be extracted without contact with any xenomorphs. Another glorious day in the Corps!
Will review the available intel before attempting this mission again.

Another quick find with Pantsman & Youngoldfella on our way out to White Rock. TNLNSL.
This one has been on my 'to do' list for a loooong time.
Was able to drive to within spitting distance of GZ thanks to the Pantsmobile. Nice, easy find. TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache, Regula Jargon.

Found with (techically by) Pantsman on our sherpa mission to White Rock with Youngololdfella. TNLNSL.
It had been more than 2 years since I made the trip out here, so I jumped at the chance to sherpa Youngoldfella up the rock with Pantsman.
A nice walk on a hot day. Cache exactly as I remembered it. TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache, Rogainer.

Stopped by today while riding in the area. As per the 3 previous maintenance requests, this cache needs maintenance by the owner, or needs to be archived.
The cache is located in a position, at the outflow to a storm water drain, that means that it is inundated everytime it rains. This is compounded by the fact that the container is not waterproof; and as indicated by previous logs, fills with water. As such, the logbook is damp and anything ferous in the cache has rusted out staining the other contents.
If archived, I will be happy to dispose of the leaking cache container, and replace with a new, nearby cache for people to find.
