What he said plus this is not too safe for the geokiddies to be running around down here either. Nothing swapped but signed log.

The 11th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and I was glad to hear that this one has been placed at the parking area and not down the 1.5 kilometre walk to the mine, although geohubby would've liked to explore the old mine I'm sure but maybe we'll come back this way again one day? The 9th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and the 4wd sure got another workout getting up here but once again I was happy to see another cache right beside the road. I'm over walking to caches for a while after Hide & Cave in Bendethra TNLNSL TFTC

PS Just wondering how theUMP considers this one a virtual cache?

The 10th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and this is one of those amazing spots that we would've driven straight past if it wasn't for The Mountain Goat, the views from here are outstanding, you can see for miles up and down the coast which I was really surprised about being so far inland, great to read about the heritage of the area too. As usual the cache was quickly found only metres from where we parked and we took poor old Crispy the Penguin as it seems he's been stuck in here forever, left nothing SL TFTC

The 7th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour although I was disappointed to see that the 4wd could not even reach the halfway point to the caves, if the rest of the track was cleared of overgrowth there's no reason it couldn't be opened and we could have driven all the way instead of wasting hours on foot, I suppose that's National Parks for you though, it's a wonder this whole area is even still open to 4wds? Once at the caves I couldn't take the kids up the last slope so once again geohubby was elected to retrieve the info needed, after that the cache was a quick and easy find and the kids napping in the car by the time we reached GZ made me feel like doing the same TNLNSL TFTC

The 12th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and this one took a little searching to find but number 1 geokid came up with the prize after about 5 minutes, we were a little worried about this cache being in the middle of town but we didn't see another living soul the whole time we were there, it felt a bit strange actually, great to read a little history about the gold rush days too TNLNSL TFTC

The 4th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour, not sure if I would describe this as a nice drive but it was good to pack the family in the 4wd and get out of the rat race for the day, found the cache easy now down into Bendethra for a well earned swim and lunch TNLNSL TFTC

The 8th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and I am beginning to see why The Mountain Goat's caches are popular with 4wd'ers, after the last 2 walking caches in Bendethra I was glad to see that this one is right beside the road which seems to be a theme with MG's caches, great views from up here too although the trees block it a little TNLNSL TFTC

The 3rd of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and what a track this is, the GPSr was teasing us with eight hundred and something metre peaks, then nine hundred and something metre peaks before it would drop away again to five or six hundred metres altitude, just as we were starting to get frustrated we crested a particularly nasty looking climb and the GPSr finally ticked over the mark but only just, I think GZ gave us a reading of 1007m ASL, a quick tip for the wary too, we found that you may have to actually stop on top of any prospective hilltops and let the GPSr settle for 30 seconds or so to get an accurate altitude reading? Great cache TNLNSL TFTC

The 5th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour, this is a great looking camping area, made us wish we had brought the tents with us, the old oven is looking a bit battered though, rocks are falling off or being pulled off it everywhere, perhaps not the best place to hide a cache as people will no doubt be turning over rocks as we did looking for it but it's still a nice area TNLNSL TFTC

The 6th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour, after seeing the terrain IE a near vertical climb across the river, geohubby was elected to grab this one alone while the kids paddled around in the creek, great cache TNLNSL TFTC

The last of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and after just doing Tuross River Bridges 4, 3 & 2 we got to this one expecting to find a rickety old wooden bridge and a Sistema container but The Mountain Goat has thrown in a twist for the end of our big day out, thanks for a great day of caches Mr Goatee, we'll keep an eye out for any of your others TNLNSL TFTC

The 15th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and one of these things is just like the other one as they say on Sesame Street, another great Mountain Goat cache right UNDER the road this time TNLNSL TFTC

The 14th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and this is a grand old bridge, the log was a little damp too, I don't think the container is sealing as good as it should but otherwise a great find TNLNSL TFTC

The 13th of 16 cache finds on our big four wheel driving adventure tour and this one was found by pure coincidence, we knew it was on the missing list but as we planned on going past anyway we thought we stop in and have a look for it and to our surprise the only place that matched the clue also contained a cache, the new one as it turns out must have been replaced just before we got there, excellent timing Mr Goatee, the kids took the opportunity for another paddle in the river too, I would hate to see how much water would be here when it floods too TNLNSL TFTC

Pigeon's Loft probably deserves a bit better experience rating than a 2 for it's views but after that walk I think it's lucky to be getting that? I have to say that getting to this cache is not really very safe at all for younger geokiddies, we had to take each one up each of the ladders separately and with one of us minding the geokids above and the other going up and down ladders, that left nobody to mind the remaining geokiddies below and the railings on those platforms leave a lot to be desired, I don't know how nobody has fallen from them before this? The same goes for the top, there's a thousand and one places where you could put a foot wrong and find yourself or your child at the bottom of a 50 metre vertical drop. For any families that are thinking of attempting this cache with young kids I would say find yourself a babysitter for the day. Nothing swapped but signed log, thanks.

The geokiddies had great fun figuring out which of these statues were which but with all the muggles around today we were forced to go sit on the beach for a few hours and come back to log the actual cache. We were so impressed with the amount of work that's been put into these carvings, I wouldn't have the patience myself? Nothing swapped (micro) but signed log, thanks. PS there's no pencil in the cache?
