If only more remained of circus maximus. Just imagine coming to see one of these races back in the day. Would have been extraordinary. Thanks for the cache.

Try imagine this if you have not yet seen the colosseum. You squeeze out of a hot, smelly metro train and make your way to the uscita(exit). Your body automatically leads you to fresh air and the pizza stands at the entrance. And then as you see a gap in the hordes of people ahead, you see it, the colosseum. WOW WOW WOW! Now this is what I call a cache site. Thanks for the cache.

WOW! Very impressive indeed. We could quite easily spend a few hours a day walking around this magnificent Eden. It’s a good thing we did not notice any apple trees guarded by snakes around. TFTC

This mural was commissioned to brighten up the otherwise not so pleasant water refinery in Cape Town South Africa. A group of the local schools were invited, free paint was supplied and this is the result.

Oscar the seal is the official mascot of the Table Bay Hotel in the Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa. All the uniforms, crockery and bedding etc have little Oscars on them. Apparently Oscar is the original protector of The Table Bay. Just imagine polishing Oscar everyday Sad

This small scale, low budget paintball field is situated in Melkbosstrand, Sout Africa. As you can see the bunkers are made from old drums, crates etc. It still makes for lots of fun and games.

This station is situated in Hermanus, South Africa. The station was built in the early 1900's. The odd thing is though that the station was actually never used as a station. Sir William Hoy, the General Manager of the South African Railways at that stage, stopped the railway line from being built to Hermanus to ensure that the natural beauty of Hermanus would stay unspoilt. Currently the station acts as a tourist info centre.

Certain sections of the remake of the 1972 epic "The Poseidon Adventure" was filmed in this warehouse. Apparently this location was chosen as the cost of building the set was relatively low as well as the availiblity of skilled ship builders are readily availible. This is in Cape Town South Africa.

This mosque is one of the remaining mosques of an area known as District 6. Originally established as a mixed community of freed slaves, merchants, artisans, labourers and migrants District Six was a vibrant centre with close links to the city and the port. In 1966 during the Apartheid regime, the area was declared a white area under the Group Areas Act, and by 1982 the life of the community was over and over 60 000 people were forcibly removed from the area and their houses flattened by bulldozers. Now, after the abolition of apartheid, the area is starting to grow again.

On a caching expedition this weekend, S got a fright when a lizard seemed to be quite eager to attack her. On further investigation we noticed that the lizard was actually trying to get to a hole just next to S's foot. When we looked into the hole we saw the tiny white eggs she had laid. We later found out that this is a female Blue Headed Lizard (Agama atricollis). The blue head is characteristic of the males in the summer season.

At this site in st Helena Bay South Africa we decided to "hide" our first locationless cache, unfortunately we did not realize that locationless caches were no longer added.

This padrao was given to South Africa by Portugal to commemorate the birth of da gama. It was erecected on 8 November 1969 which was the same day in 1497 that da gama landed in st Helena Bay on his way from the West to the East.
