Logs for Gp30sieb
30-Mar-23
Technically didn't find it, but ran into another geocacher in the act of retrieval. Logging a few last smilies before a flight back to NY. TFTC
Have to leave New Zealand in a few hours so grabbing a few last caches. TFTC
Urban caching... Frenetic GPS signal had me at both ends and both sides of the street. Finally spotted where it had to be. TFTC
28-Mar-23
Day visitor to Wellington. Caught a train and got off here. Terr rating is accurate unless you go up too far and stupidly bushwhack back as I did. Duh... TFTC
Let me see...can I get off the train, grab a cache, and get back under cover before it starts to rain at 1400? The answer is yes... unfortunately it started at 1300. Easily found. TFTC
27-Mar-23
Came in from Auckland on the Northern Explorer train, checked into my hotel, and found the closest cache. Quickly found thanks to a generous hint. No muggles early evening. TFTC
26-Mar-23
Spotted the outer container right away. I used the locally available tools. TFTC
Joyriding the train. Found cache easily. I've seen that one many times. As to the log, in Middle School we called them spitwads. Needs to be replaced. TFTC
Riding the Northern Explorer tomorrow so scouting the route from my hotel to the terminal. This was too close to pass up. Quick find. TFTC
Easily found even with coordinates being a touch wide. Only a few possible places that it could be. Dropped off a small geocoin that I picked up yesterday to bring to another hemisphere, but it's mission is to stay in New Zealand, so I had to drop it today before I leave. TFTC
25-Mar-23
Joyriding the train, tapping off here and there to grab smilies. TFTC
Joyriding the train to and from Swanson having just gotten to Auckland via cruise ship. I missed this the first time around, but then approached it from the other direction and the hide spot became apparent. Good hide. TFTC
Ouch, l got the point. Made the retrieval without getting too many more. TFTC
I arrived in Auckland this morning on a cruise ship well before my hotel room was available. So what does any self-respecting railfan/geocacher do? Stash the luggage at the hotel, buy a HOP Card and joyride. Quick find. TFTC
23-Mar-23
I survived. I dropped the log, boi it stayed reachable so all is good. TFTC
The top of the little side path is treacherously slick. Took a couple of tries to get back up after the quick find. TFTC
As we were sailing into the harbor I commented that after a few ports built on the side of hills it was nice to have a port on level ground. So where did I end up?
Up and down and return to the ship the long way around, so now i have wobbly legs.

Coords off by about 8 meters. Luckily I learned that word in the hint in elementary school, but that didn't stop me from following the geotrail to the cords. Here from the USA on Holland America cruise ship Noordam. TFTC
22-Mar-23
Shuttle from the Holland America cruise ship Noordam, a pleasant walk here, and a quick find of the answer (sent) and my first North Island cache. Beautiful spot. TFTC
Good news, I found it on my way up the hill. Bad news I assumed that it was on the road so went all the way up, only to have to go back down to make the find after walking past it and having to backtrack. Now I'm all the way back up again. Quick find that I should have gotten on the first trek up. TFTC
My mother and sister were both in wheelchairs towards the end of their lives. I would say given the muddy soil and specific location of the container a terr of 1.5 is more appropriate. Be that as it may, easily found with the hint. TFTC
20-Mar-23
Yup. Now I'm filthy. Assumed I was looking for something smaller and used my fingertip eyeballs. Found it with the other ones. TFTC
Pretty town. Answers sent. Off Holland America cruise ship. TFTC
Found it after a trip out to the bird sanctuary. Off Holland America cruise ship
TFTC
TFTC
Finally figured out how to get there, although it did require a backtrack. TFTC

I thought that this was going to be a Write Note ...no way in on a Sunday, but after a partial circumnavigation found the access and the container. TFTC
Not a lot of people are here considering a cruise ship in port. Greetings from New York via the same. TFTC
I have to be back at the cruise ship by 2, and can't wait for the seat to be in the sun, so I found the cache in the shade. Hopefully you won't delete my log for that reason. TFTC
Peeked in there but dismissed it given the description of a Regular. Went back for a second look and made the find. TFTC
18-Mar-23
Interesting earthcache. While here I also logged my 500th Life Bird...a Silvereye and two species of shags,

Terrain 3.5 for those of us who arrive on a cruise ship and have to hoof it. 1.5 otherwise. Nice tribute to a fallen hero. Found easily. TFTC
First New Zealand find. Off Holland America cruise ship Noordam. Things were bouncy so the hint helped. TFTC
Off of a Holland America cruise ship collecting life birds and New Zealand geocaches. Went above but then came back down for the find. TFTC
14-Mar-23
On an excursion from a cruise ship. The bus stopped for photos. Everyone saw me find this. TFTC
I am always afraid I will be searching for the container or part of it down in the rocks after clutzely dropping it. Retrieval and return without incident...yay me. TFTC
I went out this morning before an excursion to a wildlife park and limestone cave and found the rock face at ground zero. I have messaged the answers to the questions using pokey cruise ship WiFi, so hopefully it sends.
